  1. Freitas hitting 70-100 points higher than Saladino all year, that’s quite a massive difference. No way they get rid of Pina, he’s a good backup C. Im good with giving Freitas a shot if someone gets hurt but theres a lot of talent evaluators that think a 30 yo journeyman catcher hasn't had what it takes to hit hig league pitching. We can all look at aaa stats and anoint the guy an all-star but theres reasons 30 year old dudes are hanging out hitting .300 in the minors.
  2. Mannfred admitted the ball was "different" than last years, but chalked it up to the fact that the balls are hand made, and there can be minor differences from year to year with hand made products.
  3. I played a fall softball league in Beloit about 6 or 7 years ago at Krueger park. The fences there were about 270 all the way around, and in the fall league there were no designated classes (like A,B,C) for team ranks. They also didn't check bats, so everyone (EVERYONE) was using shaved and rolled 300 dollar DiMarini's and Easton bats, so every game was simply a homer fest. We had 145 pound guys knocking balls 350 feet, and it just wasn't even that fun. This is kinda like that. K, I'm gonna stop ranting about this. I'm getting repetitive. BOoooooOOOo on me.
  4. Down 13-0, just gotta put together a couple nice drives, get in scoring range and put the ball in the endzone a few times. Coach Cooper isn't giving up on this one!
  5. I don't like the game as it's being played this year. Batters should not be rewarded for hitting "pitchers" pitches and making poor contact with homeruns. Maybe that's just my take, but I'm not a fan of the cheapening of the homerun at all.
  6. RIght? If you lose by 50, it still only counts as one loss. Would be way less demoralizing than if they had lost last night's game, as hard as the offense fought to pull that one out.
  7. Gotta think Pina is also let go this winter. Meanwhile Freitas is hitting almost .400 at AAA. Backup catchers that have a .730 OPS and play + defense aren't all that common. Pina isn't the problem on this team. If Freitas came up and hit .275 I'd be surprised. Saladino tore up AAA as well.
  8. I'm sure there's nothing more to it than Braun simply needing a rest day after a night game. As much as we need him, if we want him to help carry the team in September, he needs these maintenance days. If they had an off day tomorrow, he'd probably be playing today.
  9. Even more nuts is that's only 3rd in the NL in homers. We're gonna see a large handful of teams hit 250 dingers or more this year.
  10. Really hoping for 6 strong out of Anderson today. I know (and always agree with CC) that Anderson is at his best when seeing batters only two times through, but if he can be pushed a little bit today, and hopefully not see Jackson or Wilkerson in a close game, that would really be ideal.
  11. They have a complicated series of tie breakers.
  12. What is the team record for homers in the regular season? https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/MIL/batteam.shtml 231 in 2007. Needing only 33 to tie that with 39 games, I see no way that record doesn't fall, and by a large margin. EDIT: By the end of the year, 3 of the top 4 homerun hitting seasons in Brewers history will be the last 3 years.
  13. This game has become such that any ball off the bat with a trajectory to the outfield makes me nervous.
  14. There was a span where they saw 6 out of 7 pitches about 4 inches above the zone. 6 swinging strikes. That is where Hader has his success. Up and just out of the zone. FOr the last 3 batters, he looked like vintage Hader.....
  15. For all the time people complain us getting RISP with nobody out and not scoring...... look what the Nats just did. Epic fail.
  16. I was a slow pitch softball pitcher for about 15 years and really found my calling when I started pitching in unlimited arc tournies. I could drop strikes from about 35 feet up. I bet I could throw one heck of an eephus pitch.
