    According to FanGraphs Christian is only behind Trout, they've got him tied with Bellinger. Their PAs are essentially equal (465 vs 470), their wRC+ are essentially equal (180 vs 178), Yelich has the edge in baserunning (+4.4 vs -0.3) while Cody has the edge in fielding (+7.5 vs +2.2 UZR). BRef is essentially the same, but they use DRS for fielding which has Bellinger +17, so that accounts for the 1 WAR edge he currently has over Christian there. Not a huge fan of the formula Bref uses for DRS... but it kind of is what it is. Yelich is a good, not great fielder.

    Whiffs all over for Shaw. Who is that coach you guys refer to occasionally? He would have pulled Shaw mid inning. Coach Cooper. He'd have Shaw doing laps around the outfield right now.

    The Brewers are 2nd in the NL in walks. EXACTLY my point, they sure haven't shown that in this series If the pitchers are throwing strikes you can't just stand there and watch strikes. The Brewers lead the NL in pitches per PA. One series is not indicative of a trend. The Cubs have been pitching well and sometimes you just have to tip your hat and move on.

    The year Rob Deer hit .179 he still somehow managed to have a .700 OPS, have a .314 OBP, and have a 92 OPS+.. Not good, but still not a black hole in the lineup like Shaw has been. Same with Uggla. The year he hit .179 he had 22 homers and 77 walks. He still had (barely) an OBP over .300 and had a .671 OPS. I'm not saying these guys were helping their offenses (they weren't) but Shaw is not hitting for power, he's got a .540 OPS, and I just don't think there's any comparison. Those guys were at least getting on base and knocking some dingers.

    I don't think there was ever a decision of "Keep Mirotic" or "not keep Mirotic". LIke ontheblack said, the Jazz made him an offer of 3/45 and he turned it down to play in Europe. Could the Bucks have beat that offer, and would it have mattered to him? Maybe, Probably, but I don't know how much more than that Mirotic is worth, especially when it costs you an opportunity to keep Middleton, who by all accounts is THE GUY Giannis wants to play with. Everyone knows that these moves don't happen in a vacuum.

    I've said this before and I'll say it again, red-assed dinosaurs like Clint Hurdle just don't belong in baseball. It's time to move on from this idiocy. Some guy hit a homerun, my feelings are hurt, and now I have to hurl a baseball and someone's head at 95 mph+ to make up for my hurt feelings, and Hurdle just says "that's baseball". Suspend him for 80 games then next time one of his guys throws up and in and that'll put an end to this idiocy

    I think (and I've made this argument before) it's not just the pace of play. It's the aesthetic value of the current game. There's less balls put in play, there's a lot more standing around. There's more k's and walks, and there's generally less action than there has been, quite literally ever, in the history of the game. The scoring is up, which is ok I suppose, and homeruns are up, but they're SO up, that the excitement of homeruns has been watered down to a point that a homerun is not an "event" in a baseball game any more. I'm not here arguing that I want bunting, grounders advancing runners, and sac flies galore, but it's just the aesthetic of the current game is frankly, really not an exciting game to watch most nights. You can't MAKE hitters not swing for the fences, and try to steal more bases, and bunt and etc, etc, etc. I don't want a bunch of 3-2 games where all 5 runs scored on sac flies and RBI groundouts. That's boring too! I just think there's a middle ground between fundamentally sound (and boring) baseball and 3TO (and really boring) baseball. I don't know where that is, and I don't know how to reach it. I do think that juicing the baseball so that we have multiple teams on pace for 275 homers isn't really a good start. Having a bunch of pitchers striking out 14+ batters per 9, IMO, is not great for the game either.

    This is what it sounds like when I go to Beloit Snappers games. This is absolutely atrocious. That they allow these fans to bring all these trashcan lids in the stadium is beyond me.

    My eye test (when I'm watching) tells me Claudio gives up a ton of bloopers and bleeders that fall in or just evade gloves. Could be wrong.... Perceptions are often wrong.

    Just stop. Go back to listing ERA’s or something. I get he's your hero but he has no business hitting there and I was getting at the fact that he got a hit when it didn't matter and got out with a runner on 3rd. So when there's 2 outs and nobody on should he just get an out and get the inning over? I'm not sure I follow? All hits matter. They roll the lineup over to get the better hitters more at bats, if nothing else. Your #4 hitter is now hitting with a man on base, if even with 2 outs. "hits that don't matter" doesn't even make sense, unless the game was 14 to 2 in the 9th inning.

Almost all of that is fair, but 4 of the previous 5 seasons, including 92, Molitor played in 154+ games. It seems like to that point in his career, Molitor had put the "oft injured" tag behind him. He was (no question) 36, and should have been hitting the decline phase of his career, and nobody could have known that he was peaking at 36, but the injury bug really seemed to be behind him at that point.

    As Jopal stated, Braun's OPS'ing .800 and still producing at the plate. It could be worse, he could be Pujols. Grisham's been pretty "meh" throughout much of his minor league career. He's suddenly mashing in 6 weeks at AAA (where almost everyone at San Antonio hits, even Tyler Saladino), so if I can get a big overpay based on that 6 weeks of production, I'd take it in a hurry. I'm not suggesting he'll be a bust or not a productive big leaguer, but if the Brewers can get a 2 or even a 3 type starter with multiple years of control for Grisham+, it's something they should seriously consider (IMO)

    Trevor Bauer lost his cool just a teensy bit while being taken out of a game today in the 5th after giving up 8 runs and threw a ball off the batters eye (from the mound). Runner on 2nd and 2nd baseman ducked, and Francona asked him "what the (expletive) is wrong with you?" He's gonna throw at someones head some day.

    He still needs to buckle down and get the out, for sure. But that is not at all entirely on Jeffress. This still highlights a glaring hole in Hiuras game.
