  1. At least I feel like, unlike years past, our "sunday lineups" still have some punch and ability to score a decent number of runs. Our bench players this year are still somewhat capable.

  3. Does Price NOT understand that the field umpires dont make the call on reviews. Also, I hate Brian Price.
  4. [sarcasm]I'm sure it's just a total coincidence that you're at one end of at least half the pissing matches that happen here.[/sarcasm] Nah. You can check my post history if you'd like. Hardly a thing. Few spats with you because you just continue on and it's too fun to not keep it going. Like tonight. There was nothing there and you just kept going. Lets drop this and talk about the game, k? Thanks.
  5. Point made, lets move on. Thanks.
  6. Thames will k, Braun will get on, and shaw will get a walk off dinger.
  7. Sorry, late thread. Hawing's at the park and I'm at work and this isnt easy to do from a phone.

  9. If the guys on the Brewers are going to suddenly turn on a light switch because Stearns adds one or two mediocre players in either/both of Granderson and Kinsler, then they really, really, really, really need to address how they approach the way they play the game in the first place. OVer his last 7 days Broxton is OPS-ing .950, so he's quite hot right now, so really we're talking about adding Kinsler. If we add Kinsler, EVERYONE is going to suddenly be like 'OK, WE'RE FINE NOW" and remember how to hit". I'm absolutely certain that's not how baseball works. I'm certain beyond a shadow of a doubt that's not how professional baseball players think, or operate, or anything. I get "a little shakeup", but when you're averaging -1.5 runs per game for the last month, adding a .720 OPS 2nd baseman isn't " a little shakeup", and isn't suddenly going to turn everyone into the offensive juggernaut they were in the first half.

  11. I think there's a very definite fallacy to think that Stearns is being "idle" just because he doesn't go out and get a player or players that we want him to get. Just because he's not getting the players doesn't mean he's idle. I think it's fair to say he's been very active searching for deals and seeing what's available, probing for the cost of those vets and such. Just because he doesn't pull the trigger is not an indication of activity.
  12. It's interesting, yesterday, when Garza failed to throw a ball when he had a runner picked off, a lot of people were upset that he didn't make the throw. I think Garza suffers from the yips when he has to make easy throws at times as well, and I think that this mental part of the game that affects some players is something a lot of people don't think about or perhaps understand. Steve Sax had a really weird bout with the yips, when he couldn't make throws from 2nd to first.
  13. I realize they were never going to get 2 runs, but why is cc still using Barnes in close games?
  14. It keeps feeling like theyre about to break out and they keep not doing it.
  15. These are fantastic. Every last one of them.
  16. Garza had a 2.00 ERA over his last 6 starts, then had one bad inning last night. He's not getting dumped out of the rotation after one bad (really bad!) start. Like others in the game thread said last night, a lot of people are just really (really) pre-disposed to just for some reason hate Garza. His peripherals aren't great, he doesn't strike out a ton of batters, and he was really awful last year. I get all that. But for the last several starts, he was pretty good. His leash isn't going to end at one bad outing.
  17. Michael Blazek "I bet nobody will ever break my record for homers given up in an inning" Garza: "Hold my beer"
  18. Its only the 4th inning? It feels like this game has been going for 2 hours already. (Looks at clock) "oh....."
  19. I dont care how theyre getting runs, im just happy theyre getting them.
