  1. I feel like this has to be a precursor to another move. This alone doesnt improve the team to the point where theyre good enough yet, and you dont trade Cordell, blocked or not, for two months of swarzak if youre not going for it.
  2. He gets a lot of singles because he has a manager that puts him at the top of the order because he's fast. Getting a lot of singles doesn't exactly equate to "hitting" (IMO of course). He carries a really pedestrian OBP, has slugged over .400 once, and really only has plus value if he hits over .300, which isn't exactly a given.
  3. Garcia hasnt been very good for a few years and (as has been noted) is a very short term rental. This is about a suitable return, IMO.
  4. Regardless of the content of the post or the poster, let's please stop telling posters to get out or go away. Use the "report a post" feature or PM a mod if you see something that shouldn't be posted. These "go away" posts are cluttering up threads and conversation as much as the troll posts and stuff that people don't want to see.
  5. With the team averaging about two runs per game on offense during this losing streak I don't know how much he would actually have helped had he even been used. This is not even to say that he hasn't been underused but he certainly can't help the offense score.
  6. lol that's funny. No they don't. Brewers have 1 more loss than the Cubs. I could give a damn about winning pct. This is the optimism thread. This is the thread for people to come in and Sprout unabashed and unfettered optimism. Stop coming into this thread and raining on people's parade.
  7. I know that strikeouts don't matter (compared to other outs) but I feel like they're the big elephant in the room right now with the offense struggling. We're getting tons of guys on and just striking out at a huge rate. Hits with men on base would be much preferable than weak ground outs and pop ups, but we're just not even making contact right now.
  8. Bloop from a guy hitting .115. Whats worse is that I expected it.
  9. I like Broxton, I like his toolset, and I really want him to succeed, but he's just not gettin' it done.
  10. Attanasio is one of the most hyper-competitive owners in the league. They are absolutely trying to win. Just because they aren't implementing a plan that's consistent with the way you think they should do it, or the players you want them to do it with doesn't mean they aren't trying to win.
  11. The umpires did a terrible job tonight. The brewers had 2nd and 3rd with none out and 1st and 2nd with one out and never moved an inch. You have to get guys in. Umps may have cost the brewers a run or 2, but the brewers cost themselves just as much.
  12. And rousing ovation for Marte, check. I feel like what's always missing from this is that the actions Braun took before he got suspended. He blatantly lied he threw the collections agent under the bus and made a big deal with a press conference claiming his innocence. Nobody else who has been busted for Peds has done this. I realize we're biased in that braun is our guy and I really don't even care about it at this point but everybody acts upset that Braun gets booed and nobody else does but there is actually a reason for this. I even agree that people still booing Braun is old but there's a reason for it and it's not because he got busted for Peds. It's because of the actions he took after the fact.
  13. I like Santana at leadoff. I like that power and on-base percentage combo in the leadoff spot and I always have
  14. Walking over 7 guys per 9 innings is hard to overstate. That's a lot of walks. Bringing a guy with those kind of control issues into a bases loaded situation is a really bad idea.
  15. The Braun shallow fly ball was egrigiously bad. That ball was not hammered, and calling it hammered was laughable. The Thames deep drive was not quite as bad, though calling it "gone" was funny, when it clearly was not. It's not even a case where it was straight away, and hard to tell if it was off the batters eye or not, it was over in LC field.
  16. When I was having the small "I can't find the game on tv" melt down, I took notice of the warning because the closest bar to hotel is about a half mile. I was willing to take my chances of good weather holding or a Good Samaritan driving me back. We cut the cord about a year and a half ago (love it, and would never go back). I can still catch Brewers games on FoxSportsGo, but that is the worst streaming app in the history of forever, and needs to be refreshed about every 3 minutes. I'd rather listen on the radio than have to refresh my device constantly.
  17. I'm listening to WCLO (Rock County) and we have a T-Storm watch. Currently not a cloud in the sky. Still, they've managed to cut away to let us know that we're still under a T-Storm watch during the Thames RBI double, the RBI in the 6th, and the Shaw homerun. Un-freakin-canny.
  18. Yeah, I mentioned this is the "82 memories" thread. I just don't know any team in any sport that commemorates not winning a championship like the Brewers do. I hope and pray that this is the last time we make a big deal out of not winning the World Series.
  19. Yeah. Wholeheartedly agree with this. I have super fond memories of the 82 season, and the early 80's Brewers in general, but man, I don't know ANY team in sports that celebrates *not* winning a championship like the Brewers do.
  20. I guess you have to look at it with some relativity. 2017 team OPS .777 2011 team OPS .750 2017 team OPS+ = 100 2011 team OPS+ = 102 2017 team ERA = 4.09 2011 team ERA = 3.63 2017 team ERA+ = 108 2011 team ERA+ = 109 The 2017 team is scoring more runs and has a better team OPS. Is it "better" relative to the competition and the run-scoring opportunities in the league? They seem about even. The 2011 team had better pitching, but again, the ERA+ (a very simplistic measure, I admit) shows that again, relative to the competition, the teams are super similar. A lot of people will say the pitching in 2011 was a LOT better. The pitching this year hasn't really been *that* bad. The bullpen has been better the last few months. The starting rotation (aside from Davies and Guerra) has been better than expected. Are the starters as good as they have performed? Maybe not, but the numbers aren't measuring the actual talent level, they are measuring what has occurred on the field.
