  1. Better team? I'll give them that. Far better team? Nah. The Badgers have been to the sweet 16 4 years in a row. They went to the Final four twice. Barely lost in the Nat'l Title Game. Mostly with this team, minus Kaminsky and Dekker (but without Happ). I know people don't want to think of Wisconsin as an elite program, but they kind of are, until they aren't.
  2. What a down year for the Big 10.....
  3. It's not up to anyone else to decide what you wear and how you display and/or declare your allegiance. I find all those unwritten fan rules silly as heck. I have a Yankees cap that's like 25 years old that my mom bought for me, and I hate the Yankees.
  4. Nova was only 5 of 16 from three. Good call.
  5. Free throw shooting was bad again today, but Koenig and Hayes (and Happ) really played excellent basketball otherwise. Team is peaking at the right time.
  6. Nigel Hayes sure showed up tonight. Hitting his free throws was absolutely the difference maker in this game.
  7. Big win against the Clips last night on the road. Bucks are playing as well as anyone in the east for the last 3-4 weeks......and I hate to say this, but basically since Parker went down and Middleton came in.
  8. I think the consensus (or near consensus) is that people feel like the Badgers were somewhere in the 6-9 range, and that's fine, but to seed Minnesota, Maryland, Michigan all higher than them, and NW and Michigan St!!! essentially the same is where the problem lies.
  9. lol...... Wisconsin slid late, and deserved to drop, but how is NW an 8, if Wisconsin is an 8? How is Minnesota a FIVE if Wisconsin is an EIGHT?
  10. Middleton is making up for the loss of Parker and they're actually playing semi- ompetent defense. The 6 seed is a stretch but not out of reach. At least gun for that 7 seed to avoid Cleveland in the first round.
  11. Yeah, I think Kidd's name created some buzz around the franchise, but it's like you said, it doesn't make people go to games. Giannis makes people go to games. I really thought this team was turning a corner two years ago, and Kidd (honestly) looked like he was part of the solution. Giannis was a budding superstar, Parker was going to be his awesome Pippen-lite sidekick, and things looked pretty solid. Now Hammond is throwing money hand over fist at replacement players and is doing the Herb Kohl thing all over again of desperately trying to chase a 7 or 8 seed. It makes zero sense. Backing dump trucks full of money up to Delevadova, Teletovic, Henson, and Plumlee (okay, somehow he traded that contract) is just mind boggling. Mind........boggling. None of those guys plays more than 20 minutes a game except Dele, and he's mediocre at anything other than being the dirtiest player in the league.
  12. Yeah, Vaughn should be getting minutes for no other reason than to see what he actually is or if he can be developed into a viable 20-25 minutes a game option.
  13. That over the back dunk on curry was hilarious. I think Giannis was taking the game a little more seriously than some of the vets. He's out there going for steals and blocks in a glorified dunk contest.
  14. Yeah, Chandler is 34...... man, I didn't realize he's been around for so long. I'm old. He's not a piece that can really help build to the future, and I don't think he helps them even win a playoff series this year. Meh.
  15. Badgers offense is just really bad right now. I realize NW is a good team this year, but the Badgers have been playing with fire lately. OT wins vs Nebraska and Rutgers..... now losing at home (badly) while just barely getting to 50 points. I realize they're 21 - 4, but the committee said "this is not a top 16 team", and then they come out and just completely play a terrible game, at home. Bleah.
  16. Jabari is their #2 scoring option, and a decent rebounder. Defense isn't his forte. Giving up 47 points in a quarter is a team issue, regardless of who's out there. The team defense has been ugly for a while, and indicative of a larger problem overall.
  17. I think calling his OBP respectable at .321 (right at league average) is fair, but that's counting pitchers batting into the league average as well. His defense is pretty brutal. He has the mobility of a statue, and no reach at all. He made 11 errors, and he doesn't get to anything. I know defense at first base is deemed to be not important, but I think that the market is figuring out that defense everywhere is actually important.
  18. It's funny....... over at Deadspin their "sportswriter" is like "THIS GUY JUST HIT 40 HUGE DINGERS!!!!!, and wrote an article about how homerun hitters are getting the shaft this off-season when it comes to huge contracts (Mark Trumbo, Batista, Carter) Some of the commenters are trying to point out that overall value (Carter was a .9 WAR player) has far more to do with what players are (and should) be paid than just "huge dingers", but sadly, yeah, a lot of people still think it's 1985 and Homeruns r awesome!!!!
  19. In the past few weeks I've managed to catch Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, and Arrival. I'd have to say Hell or High Water was my favorite of the three. Jeff Bridges is a national treasure. I'm going to make time to work down the list this year.... something I've not done in years past, and get outside my comfort zone. See what I'm missing out on.
  20. If that's gaming the system, then I suspect they're the fools. Fowler's a 2 WAR player who just had a sudden career year at age 30 who relies heavily on speed to get his value. If one thinks he's a 4 WAR player going forward, well....... I think the punishment is appropriate, and I expected MLB to go easy on them.
  21. Ouch. That's actually a pretty hefty fine/punishment. I'm surprised that MLB is showing some teeth on this one.
  22. Right. If you almost never sign free agents, you're going to HAVE to have 3 starters at LEAST out of every draft, whether they're worthy to start or not, because you have to have players on the field. Just having players play isn't indicative of success. The Cleveland Browns I'm sure have players that they drafted on the field. That's not a measure of success. They have to have players suit up and on the field. A measure of success would be how do the players that the team drafted stack up against their peers, wouldn't it? "We have 4 starters from the draft 2 years ago! Success!" But three out of the four suck! How is that a success???
  23. At his age, I don't see Capers sticking around to be the LB coach or something like that. I'd bet 10 to 1 he's the DC next year. *puke* Another season of watching mediocre DB's backpedal 18 yards on 3rd and 10 because "there's nothing else we can do".
  24. The Stormtroopers aren't clones anymore (they actually covered this in Force Awakens). They're recruits and whatnot, and they go through conditioning and training, but they still have some modicum of free will. I would imagine Finn is not the only deserter in the entire galaxy, he's just the one that happened to have a story that fit into the movie timeline.
  25. Yeah...... it's one thing to say "this is the way I like to do things/this is my system". But when the guy is unwilling to bend even when the overwhelming evidence supports a viewpoint that says "your way isn't working bruh", then there's a huge problem that needs to be addressed.
