  1. Starting to think Kentucky may not lose a single game.
  2. Eh.....time to move on and get younger. Corey is old, can't stay healthy, and just isn't very good anymore. I think we've got guys in the minors that can replicate the numbers he's capable of putting up these days.
  3. Somehow I doubt after trading for 3 OF, and having like 17 other OF on their roster right now, that trading for yet another OF is high on their radar at the moment.
  4. Here's my thing. I think they already have enough talent to be a really good (50 - 55 win) team. They just need to learn how to play and develop and get some chemistry on the floor. I'd like it if Middleton and Henson and a few other guys got more minutes, but overall, I'm not unhappy with what we're seeing here. If they're good enough to win these games, I want them winning games. I think that's more important for the development of the guys that are on the team right now today, than getting one more lottery pick next year.
  5. So Sanders, no Parker, and no Ersan, and the Bucks still win on the road. I know it's the Kings....but still.
  6. This franchise is snakebit.
  7. Terrible performance offensively by both teams.
  8. I am truly not concerned with whether or not they make the playoffs this year, but it's very obvious this team finally has a direction. I don't care if they make the playoffs, but I'd rather not see them tank if they don't make it. I want to see these young guys growing and trying and maturing into their roles and abilities as this year goes on. If they make the playoffs, great..... if they don't..... oh well. I'm just happy to see this franchise headed in the right direction with some dynamic young players.
  9. Rich people are rich (except NBA players) because they generally don't get involved in red-cost ventures. That's why teams have budgets. It's really easy for you to sit here as a fan and say "WELL I DONT CARE IF MARK A LOSES MONEY I WANT A CHAMPIONSHIP", but clearly, he is not going to choose to operate that way. He got rich by not operating that way, and there's nothing suggest that he's going to change the way he manages his money. Just so long as we all understand it is a choice he is making. It is not as if he cannot afford to sign more players, he's choosing not to. Personally I care a lot more about the Brewers winning than I do whether Mark A ends up worth $100 million or $1 billion! That's fine, but it's not your money you're talking about. This isn't Mike Ilitch we're talking about......some crazy old coot who's willing to dump his profits into payroll to win a series before he dies. This team is an investment for Attanasio. He didn't buy it to lose money. He's an investment banker. I'm 100% sure he wants to win, don't get me wrong, but not at the expense of losing money.

  11. I didn't even know Omaha was a division one team, until they beat Marquette yesterday. At the Bradley Center.
  12. 7 - 5, and winning games, certainly exceeding expectations in the W/L column, but like everyone else, I'm puzzled by the minutes distribution. Of course there could be things we're not seeing in practice and such that could be indicating why Henson and Middleton aren't seeing the floor. Of course they're putting W's on the board so it's hard to complain much. Giannis is developing some offensive game, which is really nice to see.
  13. This is what I expect from Doug because he's very secretive in what he does. I would guarantee you he and his staff are working like mad dogs, scouting, etc... to try to get this team to the next level. He also wants people to know that he's not forced to make moves. Teams look for desperate GM's to try to get the most out of their trades. He's smart, he does not show his cards. I think FAR too much gets made of the fact that GM's that "have to make a trade" get less return. Players get value for value. If a player has value, you'll get value for them. You never HAVE to trade a player. If you have two many players, you can bench or put them in the pen. You never HAVE to trade someone.
  14. BABIP .369 pre ASB, BABIP .284 in the 2nd half. That pretty much tells the whole story right there.
  15. Dodgers send Van Skyke, Dee Gordon, & Zach Lee Brewers send: Segura, Gallardo Dee Gordon our new SS, Van Slyke is our 1B against LHP and a big bat off the bench. And we get a pitcher who has the makings of a Gallardo if he can put it together within the next 1-2 years. Dodgers get their #3-4 pitcher, and a capable 2B/SS cheap. Why would the Dodgers want to do this? Segura was brutal last year, Gordon was an all star, and Van Slyke was a stud bench player. Gallardo is a decent #3 guys who is in the decline phase of his career. This move doesn't make any sense from the Dodgers perspective.
  16. I kind of hope you're not. Actually, I really hope you're not. I sorta think Hart on a minor league deal with a spring invite would be awesome. He could be this years overbay. If it were a cheap minor league deal, I wouldn't vomit. I have a high aversion to bringing back former Brewers in their 30's and who currently suck. I sometimes wonder if we're the only fanbase who have a lot of fans that have a high occurrence of wanting to bring back former players who are over the hill and past their usefulness. (I'm 100% sure we're not.....it's just one of those "it kind of feels like it" things)
  17. @ TheCrew07..... I don't think this is a fix-all (quite obviously), but I think it is an (again, obviously) upgrade over Overbay. Overbay (somehow) was very clutch in RISP situations last year, but as we all know, those numbers fluctuate wildly from year to year. Clutch isn't a stat (and I know I'm preaching to the choir here.) Ideally, I wish we had a young 1B to turn to...but we don't. Hunter Morris isn't the answer. Matt Clark isn't the answer. Jason Rodgers probably isn't the answer (though I think he can be a serviceable bench/RH platoon guy) I'm looking at this in the vein of "what's available" and "what do we have to play the position"....and the answer was "not much" and "not much". Lind isn't a world beater, but he's probably more than marginally better than what we had, and we have nobody in the system. If we were going to tank and rebuild, I'd be fine with handing the position to Clark or Morris or Rodgers, but we all know that's not what Melvin and Attanasio are going to do. Lind isn't hugely expensive, and doesn't make much more than what Estrada would have made next year anyways. I'm not ecstatic about this move, but I feel better about 1B today than I did yesterday.
  18. I kind of hope you're not. Actually, I really hope you're not.
  19. The 2nd place team in the NL hit 157 homers. The Brewers were at the top of the league in homers and slugging. The landscape of baseball has changed.
  20. I don't think everyone is 'overjoyed'. I think everyone is happy to see that Doug is doing something to address the 1st base position rather than being happy to stand pat with the guy that hit .196 last year and OBP'd less than .290. Yes LaRoche was out there, but the guy is going to be 36. There's just not a lot out there this off-season. We got rid of a guy who didn't have a lot of value other than as a back of the bullpen guy and who's going to be expensive to boot, at that. You keep bringing up the "if so and so gets injured......" angle, as if the Brewers are the only team that will struggle if they suffer injuries. Lots of teams are in dire straights if they have injuries to key guys. That's just the way it is for small market teams. They don't have starter-quality guys on the bench (in fact, most teams don't). I'm not saying it's not a valid concern, but it's one a small/mid market team has to simply learn to live with if you're going to 'go for it', as we absolutely know Doug and Mark are going to do, every single year.
  21. Love it. No thanks on bringing back Reynolds to be the platoon mate. Let it be Rodgers. Keep it cheap when the RH side of the platoon won't see more than 40-50 starts anyways, and it's a good way to see if Rodgers can handle MLB pitching.
  22. Far fetched that a guy with an .812 AAA OPS over 287 games can't put up a .725 OPS in the majors? Bianchi put up a .777 OPS in AAA, and couldn't put up a .600 OPS in the majors. It's not that far fetched at all to say someone who's productive at AAA is not automatically going to be productive at the bigs.
  23. Amazing how Brewer fans forget that Betancourt hit .267 from June 1st on with 10 HR and 50 RBI and a slugging percentage of .409 and the fact that he had 5 RBI in the NLCS vs. the Cardinals or that he led the league with 10 sacrifice flies that year. While it's fine to point out his shortcomings, I think a little balance is in order. He also played awful defense, and had a terrible OBP. He was a negative WAR player. You can find any starting player who gets 550 plate appearances and cherry pick a few stats to try to find some value, but that doesn't mean he was worth having.
  24. Yuni Betencourt was also part of that trade. At least the Royals were able to include Odorizzi as part of a trade later on. The only thing Betencourt provided was pain and mental suffering.
