  1. The way I see it, the Astros best (realistic) chance to get one in this series was yesterday off of Narveson. Take care of business today, and head into St. Louie with at least a 3 game lead.
  2. I was thinking that if the Brewers are just dead set against playing Gamel, that Hart could go to 1B next year (as he should) and sign Burrell to play a COF spot.....and then I thought about how much worse the defense could be......and how the Brewers need to stop playing horrible defenders at 6 of the 8 spots around the field, and decided it wouldn't be a good idea after all. I DO think Burrell's a candidate for a bounce back year next year. Playing in SF as a righty surely didn't help his slash stats.
  3. So, 7 - 6 on the road in the 2nd half. (Small-ish sample of course), and 2 of those game are against the hapless Astros. Again, I don't think there's any causation that can be identified, but I do think it's more than just total randomness that caused the team to play poorly on the road. Of course, I can't prove that, and those that will say it's random noise certainly won't change their minds. This upcoming road series in St. Louis is giving me the willies......all season long we've pointed out random series that could be a 'turning point', but assuming we go into St. Louis with a 3 game lead, we could LEAVE St. Louis with anywhere between a tie with St. Louis to a 6 game lead. This really is one of those potentially pivotal series that we love to point at.
  4. I'm feeling a mite bit nervous about this 3 game set in St. Louis here........but if we can get 2 out of 3 (or even better, sweep), I'll start feeling a whole lot better about a magic number countdown.
  5. There better be zero brewer fans griping about how we never get the calls for the rest of the year.
  6. Nice start here. This is the one game in the series I felt the Astros had at least a reasonable chance of winning, so it's nice to jump on Myers early.
  7. At this point, haven't the Cubs fallen back into the familiar role of the pathetic loser that you almost feel kind of sorry for?
  8. The knee jerk reaction is to sign up over there, call them a bunch of jerks, and ask them how in the world can they come up with a mathematical equation for cheating. In the end though, it's like everything else. Once you've convinced your self of a conclusion, no amount of reasonable discussion is going to sway someone. There's a minority over there that's convinced the Brewers are paying off umps, stealing signs, among other trangressions, and they'll take that with them to the grave, I'm sure. I'm done reading that nonsense. That clown with the Homer avatar makes me remember why Brewerfan is a better forum.
  9. Those are some bitter, bitter losers over there. The Brewers paid off the ump. SOmeone in 1973 accused the Brewers of stealing signs, so the current Brewers are obviously still doing it. Yeesh. those guys need a reality check.
  10. Better than 50% chance of winning 90......I'll take it. 90 should be a pretty sure bet to make it into the playoffs.
  11. Tbadder, I'm sure that a lot of what LaRussa's doing is head games. Not really sure how much it worked. (Sure didn't work for Edwin Jackson). What he's done over the last 3 days is above and beyond 'head games' though, he's a complete disruption at this point. I wonder if maybe the 2008 Brewers might have fallen victim to a tactic like this. I don't know so much these days......Prince among others seems to be a little more 'serene' these days about the nonsense that's going on.
  12. This stuff just keeps getting better. A LaRussa whining timeline...... http://www.thebrewersbar....a-russas-complaints.html Jaime Garcia can't pitch well if his room service is late........... http://www.stltoday.com/s...0f31a.html#ixzz1U09Yjf68
  13. As much as he's sucked and we've all called for his benching/send down/release, you have to feel good for the guy today. I'm sure this feels like a gigantic weight off his shoulders.
  14. If Braun were a Cardinal, 90% of the people on this forum would hate him. Of that, I have no doubt. Lucky for us, there's almost 0% chance of that ever happening.
  15. I can't beleive what I'm reading on other Cards forums today. Cards sportswriters. They're all, to just about a man, suggesting that because Pujols had a hand injury this year, that up/in should be off limits on him From now on, middle/away is all anyone's allowed to pitch to the Prince. Got it.
  16. The strike on Molina was borderline....it should have been a ball, but it was close enough to at least be questionable. Certainly not something to go ballistic over.
  17. I normally don't wish injury on enemy players, but honestly, I wish that pitch from Saito would have broken about 7 bones in the Golden Prince's hand.
  18. So, something I've learned today. Don't throw the ball up and in. Ever. For any reason. It's dangerous, and Chris Carpenter would never be able to explain it to his son. Baseball doesn't need guys like Tony LaRussa anymore. If it ever did.
  19. Yeah, I'm not sure what RR saw in Marcum to let him hang. Ultimately, it worked out, but I can't say that it was 'the right call'. He looked absolutely gassed in those last few at bats.
  20. I'm not one to care much about strikeouts and such, but Wilson sure whiffs a lot for a guy who carries a lot average, and a low SLG%.
  21. LOL! I just walked into the bedroom, saw the situation, and sighed when McGehee (predictably) struck out in a key/clutch situation. I then looked at my wife and said "Yuni's gonna un-disappoint me with a 3 run jack here". CALLED IT! Yuni, you get of my crap-list for a few days my friend.
  22. Oh, and I will say, speaking from a guy who goes to the games, the ribbon boards absolutely do influence the brightness in the stadium. I don't know (obviously) if there's any discernable affect on a hitter, but depending on what ad is up, it makes a difference. I never really noticed if they had the 'brighter' ads up while the Brewers were batting though.
  23. For the record, all I did was go over there and read. I didn't sign up to troll. That's not my style (anymore. Destroying the ESPN Giants board back in 2001-2002 was enough for me). ANYways, it seems like just about any fan base, most of the guys over there seem pretty reasonable, and then there's a few going off the deep end, and the one nut with the Simpson avatar who can come to no conclusion but cheating. There is no other explanation. So were the Brewers not stealing signs in innings 1-4, when Carp 1 hit them? I'm not sure, and I just want to be clear.
