  1. I think that would have been good for the Brewers. If Carlos is up with bases loaded more pitches should be on the plate. I'm just saying, that Jenkins wouldn't have "hypothetically" struck out in that situation. Every time the situation changes, the dynamic changes. You can't assume even if they DO pitch to Jenks that he would have struck out, because likely the pitcher would have approached the at bat differently with a runner on 2nd and 3rd instead of 1st and 2nd.
  2. Entering the game: Jenkins' OPS: 647 Lee's OPS: 1188 Toby, I think the point is the fickleness that people have been displaying in the early going of the season. 3 for 5 today with the double and homer raises Jenks OPS to what?
  3. Nobodies mentioning that if Hardy gets teh job done on the bunt, that the Mets likely would have walked Jenkins to set up the DP.
  4. I'm not going to say that bunting with Hardy at the plate was a good idea, but in the situation, Hardy needs to get down a better bunt than that. I agree 100% with both of those sentiments. 3 chances for a single to drive in a run, and you have just made it 2 chances arbitrarily.
  5. 2-3-4 hitters not only don't knock in guy from 1st and 2nd, they don't even move them a base.
  6. Bunt with one of the hotter hitters on the team.......and it fails miserably.
  7. Jenkins should not bat against lefties, he suxors. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  8. 3-2 Basehit might score 2. I don't think even with a 4 second head start Damian Miller's gonna score from first on a single.
  9. Not his fault he's too fast for the catcher to even bother to throw! So no, that's a SB.
  10. I've followed a string of locked threads and whatnot to this point, so I feel like here's where I should comment. The main page on the MLB forum has 4 locked threads. One, about a major league pitcher, is locked, and directing people to the minor league forum, where I know a lot of people don't read on a regular basis. Anything at all game related has pretty much been locked down, and I gotta say, I'm in the same boat as MassBrew. With Brewerfan's burgeoning popularity, the game threads are savagely unwieldy. Anything said in game thread with any substance is going to be missed, and asking someone to post something game related in a game thread 14 hours after the game ends is akin to asking them to shout into an empty room. Those game threads are HUGE. If I don't read them as they happen, I'm not going to bother. 14 pages of "Whoohoo!" surrounded by a 1 in 10 chance to see an insightful post, which are being buried by asking people to make sure they don't post ANYTHING game related at all outside a game thread. I understand the need to keep page views and thread counts down, but if there's a handful of people that want to discuss Yost's recent managerial blunders or whatever, directing folks to a game thread is pretty much making it a dead issue. I don't mean to step on toes, it just seems like there's an awful lot of locked threads lately, and people that are voicing their opinions that they don't feel like they can even try to bring up a topic if they think a mod might lock it down. I'm not insinuating that "freedom of speech" exists in a privately owned forum, but it certainly seems that topics that could lead to decent discussion have been shot down or directed to "game threads" that aren't going to get a lot of action after the fact. My 2 cents.
  11. Given our non-existant revenue streams, I don't see that being a possibility... unless 13 of us want to streak across the field with each character of "brewerfan.net" painted on one of us. Ah....no. It'd be all kinds of publicity, no doubt, but millions of viewers would be scarred for life.
  12. I mentioned it in the thread, but BREWERFAN.NET was just mentioned on ESPNews! Specifically the Santana thread from the trade rumors forum.
  13. Wow, that wasn't a good call at all, JJ's foot pushed the bag up, he obviously hit it.
  14. I don't like the IBB to load the bases. Davis walks too many guys for this to be a comfortable situation.
  15. I'm betting this is Davis' last inning, whether he gets out of it or not.
  16. To get through 7, he'll have to have 10 pitch innings the next few.
  17. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Prince is going to be no worse of a defensive 1B than Overbay.
  18. That was a pretty ugly swing by Jenks on strike three. Ah well, this was almost expected against the lefty.
  19. We rented King Kong this past weekend. When I watch a movie, I don't care if it's anything like the original. I'm a firm believer in letting each storyteller tell his/her version of the story. With that said, I thought it was a good show. Yeah, it did take a little while to get going, but it's not like the story before the "stars" came out to play was what I'd call boring. There's at least a couple scenes where I caught myself holding my breath for a second or two, which is always cool. And Jack Black was excellent in this movie, in my opinion. The three hour deal isn't much of an issue when you're in your own home, so that should stop being an issue now.
  20. I don't know why people get MAD when other people like a player they don't. And even then, it's entirely possible to just say, "I don't like that player, this is why, blah blah blah" without having to be a condescending jerk to those who disagree. It's the nature of message boards that discussions can and do get heated, and I think that's all fine and well, until people start throwing out "you're all delusional" and comments of the like.
  21. Well I know my brother definately wants to play. He would have signed up already, but did not have internet access until today, and he's working til 9. I can guarantee that he'll sign up tonight if you expand. I could probably have another guy sign up tonight if I make a phone call.
  22. If there's still interest, would it be possible to expand to 12?
  23. I talked to my brother, he said he'd sign up tonight if the spot was still open.
  24. You could say that, but J.J. himself said he wasn't being aggresive at the plate, and just wasn't hitting the ball hard at all. Luck very well MAY have played a part in his terrible average, but for Schroeder to say that "contact" was the reason of his turnaround, that just can't be said to be true. He was making a lot LESS contact in the 2nd half, yet his OBP, SLG and BA all took significant jumps.
