  1. I can almost look at it and say it was "a good hard play", but the continuation was completely unnecessary, and him standing over by the bench area laughing about it just makes me wish someone like Jokic or Cousins would punch him in his smug douchey face. His lack of awareness of who he is and where he's been as a basketball player is appalling.
  2. I was at the Kohl Center when they were beating some 4th tier school from rural Texas by 40, and the crowd was super raucous and rowdy. Was there for a Northwestern game and crowd was pretty rowdy.
  3. Whaaaaaaaaat? Grayson Allen ejected for a blatant flagrant 2????? NO WAY
  4. Relief pitchers/closers just don't have as much trade value as other positions, especially in the offseason. That's probably the main reason Hader hasn't been traded yet when his name's been floated around for a couple of seasons. Right now, he may be more valuable to the Brewers than he is in the trade market. I think the bolded part is what I would key on. With what we have for starters, I'm loathe to give up (as others have pointed out) the best closer in the game for any package that doesn't include at least one bona fide star or AAA prospect. If we're going to compete again in '22, having a lockdown closer is going to be key if we're playing close games.
  5. Can't make free throws to close this one out.
  6. I hate that we're 8-11 on threes (which is absolutely nuts) and only up by 7.
  7. All of Northwestern's games have been close. Their record isn't great, but they have been in every game to the end. This is gonna be tight.
  8. Smith played almost full time last year and hit .240 with a .668 OPS. He's got over 1100 PA's now, and is a .750-ish OPS guy. Yeah yeah yeah, "CITI Field"....... He *might* blossom, but I'm not trading Josh Hader for a guy who's had 1100 at bats at the big league level and hasn't put up 1.0 WAR yet, a 30 year old utility guy, and a middle of the order starter (we have a couple of those....Houser and Lauer)
  9. That's pretty harsh to say "in retrospect". They were 8-2, cruising along... hit some road bumps, played some tough teams, and still finished with 11 wins. They were an up and coming team with a good offense, a hot shot QB, putting together a defense that needed some pieces. They started 6-0, and looked headed somewhere. Rasul Douglas stole their Juju. Only one team can win the super bowl.
  10. Badgers up to #8 in the AP.
  11. McCarthy is the king of never being accountable. I'm so glad that dude is gone. If we hadn't won the Super Bowl in 2010 (don't get me wrong, I'm glad we did), he might have been fired after like 2012, and we probably win 2-3 in the ensuing decade.
  12. Yes, the Rodgers play at the end of the niners game was the better way you do that and I think there is also a difference between getting yards for a FG and what the Cowboys were facing yesterday. You are giving up 2, maybe even 3 shots at the end zone from the 40 for the maybe 50/50 shot you can even get to that one play from the 25 which is what, maybe a 20% conversion rate at best? To many things have to go perfect to pull off that draw, including the refs which you can't control. I don't think McCarthy relies on analytics a whole lot. I think he's more of a "go by my gut" type guy.
  13. What's funny to me..... maybe interesting to me, or just a conversational point.... I don't know how to word it... but here I go... when people talk about bad coaches, firing coaches...... And I find it interesting that a guy like McCarthy, as long as he's been in the game, as much as he's tied to football, and as much as he (presumably) studies the game, and is around the game, and just.... football is such a huge part of his life, it's amazing to me that he's so, so, so bad at understanding situational football. You could nab a guy off of a message board who'd understand the situationals 5 times better than Big Mike. I don't even think that's hyperbole. I'm not saying this hypothetical person would be better at designing plays, motivating players, running an offense, and all the other football "stuff", but... as far as understanding situations and time management, it's just something McCarthy has never grasped, and it's a big enough deal that it should, and probably will cost him his job.
  14. Gotta get after Jimmy G, force a couple mistakes, hopefully build an early lead. Don't let off the gas like they did against the Browns.
  15. If you watch the overhead angle of the play, both the back judge and whatever the other dude is called are running (actually running) forward before the play ended. The ref who was supposed to spot the ball was in position when there was 4 seconds on the clock but he had to get through the cowboys line. He then had to take it from the center, spot it with the side judge, and place it. If ANYONE on the Cowboys knew that the ref had to spot, touch and place the ball, they'd have had 2-3 seconds to run another play.
  16. Shocker. McCarthy said the refs messed up on the final play, when clearly they did not.
  17. Mahomes has 6 more completeions than Rothlisberger for 236 more yards.
  18. Normally, no. It's Ben Rothlisberger, so yes.
  19. KC has scored 35 points in the last 11:46 of game time.
  20. This escalated quickly
  21. In most seasons, playing a team like Philly or Pitt is going to be a minor speed bump for a 2 seed on the way to the divisional round. Yes, getting an injury to a key guy would definitely suck if it would occur, I'm not discounting that. Barring that, these games have sucked, and there's nothing on that wasn't exceedingly predictable as far as philly and pitt getting curb stomped. ETA : I feel like the HFA throughout was already a pretty good prize for grabbing the #1 seed. The format was solid as it was. We have had, what..... one sub-500 team make the playoffs in the 6 team era? With this format we're grinding closer and closer to rewarding some junk team for an 8-9 season (Philly was 9-8 lol) just so they can squeak into the playoffs and get heel-stomped by a 2 seed for no reason other than a network pocket ad money and someone gets a home game. It's dumb, boring, and stupidly unnecessary.
  22. The funny thing is we talked all season about "how important" it was now to get the 1 seed and not the 2, and get that bye..... but honestly playing a team in the WC round that has no business being in the playoffs is pretty much a bye. The only downside is missing the week of rest, and the potentiality of getting guys hurt playing that extra game.
