    To call it fan appreciation, it's almost better to do nothing than to give out "one free medium soda" to people who are routinely spending 300 - 400 or more per game on tickets, parking, food, merchandise, and etc.

    The syrup bag for the sodas for the whole stadium for the year probably cost about as much as one season ticket. I was curious, so I googled it haha. You can get about 200 20 ounce sodas from a 5 gallon syrup bag. Those run about 80 bucks. So if every single person in MetLife gets a free soda today, they'd need about 400 bags of soda, so about 33K worth of syrup. That's a lot of syrup. However, given the insane markup they put on the sodas and drinks and stuff in general at stadiums, it's still nowhere near a net loss. What a cheap stunt.

    That's almost all probably true. The Brewers do still however have Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta and Hader locked in for 2022. If we have Yelich, and we suppose he's going to bounce back somewhat to form (not PlayStation Yelich, but Marlins Yelich), the best chance to compete for a division title and further *this year* probably isn't the likely 75 games of Luke Voit and Hicks, but Yelich. Even if in your scenario, that I admit I agree with, in the waning years of his contract Yelich is a decent OBP, low power 750's OPS guy who plays 100 - 120 games a year, I feel like there's still value in that if the manager we have doesn't insist on slotting him into the 3 spot. If we can ditch him for NOTHING (which won't happen), that's a better deal than getting back two guys who are both average and injury prone. If we don't take any salary back, that money can be used to replace the production. Getting back Voit and Hicks doesn't let the Brewers do that, and it's the main reason I don't like the move specifically for 2022, when the Brewers have the pitching poised to have a repeat of 2021.

    I can imagine the reactionary takes if we pull this trade off and yelich hits .290 with 28 homers next year and voit plays 70 games and puts up a .750 ops. honestly, that's probably one of the most likely scenarios.

    29/170 and a TD today. Nice game. For the season he's at 270/1508 and 17 TD's. I think the thing holding him back from really, really serious MVP consideration is the Colts 8 - 6 record. If they win out, he might sneak in there. He's having a monster season, for sure. Also, not a big fan of that workload. He's not going to have a lengthy career at this level toting the rock this much.

    He wouldn't be starting over Young, but in a hypothetical where he was the starter, he'd be putting up numbers.

    Sure, but that's not the argument. People keep saying it's a "below average" offense. It's very clearly, objectively, an average offense. Could it be better? Yes. Would they be better positioned for post season success if the offense were better than average? Absolutely! But it's an average offense. It's not a below average offense, which is what a lot of people continue to try to insist.

    How sad is it that Bevell is considered a Badger great? At least as quarterbacks go. I mean, in 1993, he lead the big 10 in td passes PER, completion %, he was 2nd in yards passing... If you look at his stats compared to guys now who routinely throw for 7000 yards and 60 TD per year he doesn't look like much but in 1993 it was a substantially different game.

    How in the bloody blue blazes does a 20-year-old who is presumably in excellent physical shape just pass away? car accident? any of a number of ways. I think it's good for any of us to withhold judgement or not jump to conclusions until we know more. "has passed away" is pretty common to say when COD is not known.

    Voit has never put up a WAR over 2 (understandable, since he's never played a full season), so we're going to essentially pay Hicks 40 million for the next four years to get the rights to an average-ish first baseman, while not having to pay Cain for one year@ 18 million. Let's not forget Voit is entering his age 31 season. His 162 game average WAR is 2.2. He's average. I'm not against going after Voit. I'm not against trading Cain, I just can't fathom paying Hicks for four years to be mediocre to really bad, be injured 65% of the time, right after we had the good fortune to get out from under JBJ's contract, and get a decent player in the deal.

    We literally just celebrated getting out from under ONE year of JBJ's contract. Taking on Hick's contract, just to get rid of Cain, and add Voit makes no sense. Cain is still semi-useful when he's on the field. A move like this feels like the proverbial shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic. Pay Cain his 18 mil this year, hope he can play 80 to 100 games, hope he's still a 2.0 WAR or so guy for those 80-ish games, and move on.

    for all the good gute has done.... he has to adjust the paradigm with ST. can't just keep promoting assistants that run the same hot trash. gute or lafleur. someone. someone has to account for the supreme suckitude of the ST play and make a change.

    I'd also imagine there's a better way to ask it. Based on what I perused from Twitter, he's kind of a blowhard and a stirstick. Asking players (not the management) questions like that isn't a great way to maintain a good working relationship.

    He wanted so bad to just come out and say the special teams was horrific and the only reason this wasn't a total blowout. That wry grin when he referred to the last 2 minutes as "a fiasco"....

    Just don’t ask if they were embarrassed like that Bills reporter did after the Patriots only passed 3 times. That’s apparently unprofessional. That guy got shredded on Twitter for that, FWIW. He's apparently about as well liked as Haudricourt.

    I don't know how much value the metrics puts on timeouts, but I can't imagine 25 yards is much harder to hit than 20 yards, but it is Crosby we're talking about.
