  1. That Jeff Mayer kid that messed up the Orioles World Series hopes?
  2. I really, really hope that Hart's comments were taken out of context somehow. Because I have lost some serious respect for the man if the "not going to sit there and walk" comments were said the way I think they were said. If so, I would not mind to see him traded if that is the way he plays the game.
  3. I shaved my face this morning. It'll hopefully be the last shave of the month because it's playoff beard time. If the Crew starts stumbling out of the gate, I may alter it into a playoff mustache. When telling her of my plans, the girlfriend informed me that I'll be taking an unwanted playoff vow of celibacy as well. Anyone else starting their playoff beards? If it helps the Brewers win it all it will be worth all the itching, humiliation, sexual frustration, etc.
  4. I am happy that I had the opportunity to give Paul Newman a high-five once. Not only was he a great actor, but he was also a really impressive driver. When you consider that he didn't start racing until his late 40's, he really accomplished a lot. He took podiums for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, 12 Hours of Sebring & the 24 Hours of Daytona. He was still driving competitively into his 80's! He also scored many countless wins and championships as a Champ Car owner. When you add up all those accomplishments and the millions of dollars given to charity, it's easy to see that he lived a complete life. What a human being.
  5. Maybe they just fired him because he sucks. I mean just look at him.
  6. Sec 131, Row 26, Seats 1 & 2. Pretty decent score considering my 9 Pack was in Sec 420.
  7. Wes Helms has finally earned that contract Melvin gave him years ago.
  8. I had no issues at all either. It was nice. They must be getting into their playoff mode where they actually start caring about what's going on the field and not about offending as many opposing fans as they can.
  9. I agree with you CheezeWiz, but I know there are many here that seriously disagree.
  10. Moving Braun back to 3B seems insane to me. He was historically bad at 3B in 2007. What makes anyone think that he'll be serviceable there? Especially when he hasn't played there in over a year. I don't think we could have asked Braun to do anymore in LF than he has done this year. Last time I checked, he still hasn't had an error. He is in no way a gold glover yet. But he is not a liability out there. Leave him where he is. I'm just not sold on Gamel being the long term or short term solution at 3B either. I have yet to see the man play the position. But his numbers and others' opinions seem to make the case that he is a below average fielder. Maybe not Braun bad, but still bad. Is that what the Brewers really need? Our infield defense has been atrocious the past couple years. Why would we plug in another bad defensive 3B in there? Gamel's bat is gonna give him his shot. I'd just rather the Brewers end the 3B experiment and move him to a position (OF, 1B) where he won't be a liability. The only in-house option that makes any sense to me is moving Hardy to 3B. He should be average to above average with the glove. What worries me is will his production with the bat be sufficient enough for a 3B? It will probably be a bit below average when compared to the rest of the league. But when you consider the enormous black hole that 3B has been production-wise this year for the Brewers, his bat will be a welcome addition. The only other options would be to ride out Hall's contract and hope he figures it out. But that seems like suicide to me. Lamb is another option but it really doesn't make me salivate at all thinking about it. And I guess that Weeks could be moved to 3B too, but I am really reaching here. The only other options are to sign a FA (which nobody available seems like a perfect fit) or acquire somebody in a trade. And who knows who is available and obtainable on the trade market. Only the front office knows those answers. Just my opinions. But it will make for an interesting offseason.
  11. I think Appleton would be the choice spot for rehab starts. Didn't Ben Sheets make a couple starts for Beloit back in the day?
  12. Just ordered my season tickets right next to the T-Rats dugout entrance! Can't wait to get some Brewerfan.net tailgate parties going up in Appleton. Press Conference starts at 11:00. Click that Post Crescent link and it should lead you to a live feed when the time comes.
  13. Not the Brewers
  14. I want to die.
  15. I think JJ at the very least is just fine out there both offensively and defensively.I do too. But I really think he's gonna have to be moved to make room for Escobar and to replace one of the black holes at 2B or 3B. Someone should start an infield thread if there isn't one already. Ideas would really fly there.
  16. Vent thread dude. Have you even noticed the Brewers struggles against nobody tomato-can pitchers the last couple years? Some guy with a 0-0 record should spell doom for the crew. The Pirates do not mean 3 easy wins either. Weren't the Padres and Reds supposed to be considered easy wins too? This team has slumped this bad before many times. And some have lasted longer than a month. Fielder has been in a month long slump. Weeks has been in a year long slump. Hall has been in a two year slump. Optimism leads to hopes being met or disappointment. Pessimism leads to expectations being met or happy surprises.
  17. Why did I burn up a tank of gas and lose precious hours of sleep to witness last nights game? I'm heading for Walt Disney World for 5 days. It is just what I need after putting so much money and time into this franchise. It is the perfect fantasy land to isolate myself from the goings on of the outside world. I will not turn on my computer or turn on the TV at the resort to get baseball updates. I will be back relaxed and refreshed for the start of the Cubs series. I pray that the Brewers get things turned around during that time.
  18. The outfield is the absolute least of the Brewers problems. I would not change it at all for 2009. The bench players can be debated, but I would not change a thing with the starting outfield. It is the infield that needs the overhaul. They have been a liability at the plate and with the glove. I truly feel that the every position in the infield needs to be replaced either in house or with outside help.
  19. This September seems like the "Squeeze Play" version of the 2007 collapse. Absolutely gut wrenching. You all know that we'll be in it only to lose it all in that last Cubs series at home. That's how the Brewers roll. There is nobody in the bullpen that can be counted on. I was normally against it, but I am in panic mode and I would not protest getting YoGa into the pen. Anything to help stop the bleeding. This season could be our only realistic shot at the playoffs for a long long time. I have tickets for tonight's game and have no desire to go. It almost feels like getting up on Monday morning and knowing you have to go to a job you hate. Yea Team!
  20. I was able to miss the Brewer debacle last night due to my commute back home from watching the Packer game.
  21. I really hope that Gagne gets his release before the postseason starts (if we even make it). God knows what creative things Yost will do with Gagne as an option in the pen during the playoffs.
  22. Any third grader rocking the Zombies is officially the coolest kid to ever live.
  23. The Brewers would normally be my preference. But it's been so frustrating watching this team play so poorly this September that it'll be nice to take a break from them for a night and focus on the Packer game.
  24. My trip to AT&T in San Francisco was a breath of fresh air when it came the fan experience. The ushers there were amazing. Right before the game a family started walking down to their seats. One of the children had a big yellow sign made up that she was hoping would get shown on TV. An usher took the girl aside before she took her seat and very politely explained to her when she could hold up the sign and when it was not allowed. And she also explained in way that the little girl could understand, that holding up a sign will block the view of the people behind her. I complimented the usher after seeing her be so polite about the situation. The ushers there also will not allow fans to return to their seats until there is a stoppage in play. I think this rule has rubbed off on the fans there because I didn't notice many fans getting up and leaving their seats until the end of innings. The ushers are also quick to sit down the idiots who stand up and wave while talking on their cell phones during the middle of the game. It's be really nice to see Miller Park start following this type of example, because it really made all the difference in the world when it came to enjoyment of the games. I know it would probably cause some uproar if these changes were made, but I think everyone would be able to settle into the rules over time. The ushers will also have to learn to be polite but firm. I've seen some ushers take an almost personal vendetta against some fans who really didn't deserve it. Although they have to deal with much more drunken bafoons than they do in SF.
