  1. Looks like my tickets won't sell on stubhub so I'm gonna cut out of work and head down to the game. It's gonna feel like heading to the gallows but I am gonna do my best to cheer on the Brewers. The crowd really needs to do their part to turn this thing around. The team does feed off of it. I'm gonna snort a ton of coke and down half a case of Sun Drop. Let's do this. It's go time.
  2. I'm actually more bummed than I ever thought I would be about Steve's passing. Not since the passing of George Harrison have I felt so blue. Maybe it's the Brewers tank job in game 4 thats helping things. Thinking about it I realize that I've been using Apple products almost on a daily basis since 1987 when I first played Oregon Trail on an Apple II when I was in the 4th grade. My first career and education was working in printing and computer graphics exclusively on Macs. I did that for 10 years. My first email and exposure to the internet was on a Mac. I've owned 6 computers in the past 20 years, all Macs. I'm typing this post on my 5 year old Macbook that just won't die. Back in the shop my technicians are being entertained with my 160GB iPod that I've had for over 4 years now. I have my entire CD collection on it (over 20,000 songs) and there is 60GB left for more. I'm on my second iPhone now and it's great because it does everything my laptop does and more. Whenever I travel I don't need to bring along a laptop, camera, map, notes, CDs, etc. Looking at it now, I am stunned at the impact Apple's products have had on people's lives without them probably fully realizing it. Especially in the last 10 years. I know very little about Steve Jobs personally and what his true roles were with Apple and their innovations. But he was the face of the company that have changed and affected lives of millions of people for better or for worse. A very important figure of our time is gone. RIP
  3. I don't hate Sweet Caroline. I just hate what it has become.
  4. I'm gone for two days and this thread is still going strong? Pathetic.
  5. Brewers performed below my expectations. I'm completely disappointed. DFA Melvin.
  6. So what is the magical majik number for home field? We still have work to do.
  7. Just trying to sell off the parking passes I have for the games I won't be attending. For sure Game 1 of the NLDS will be available. Game 2 will be as well if the crew can manage home field advantage. Depending how far we go in the playoffs, I will have a few more passes available. The Brewers have stated that parking passes must be purchased in advance. I really don't know if they're gonna enforce that rule or not. But if any of you attending the game needs an extra pass or if any of you just wanna tailgate during the game, let me know. I'm selling the passes at face value ($15). PM me. UPDATE: Both games 1 & 2 are gone. I will update if the Brewers advance to the next round. UPDATE 10/6/2011: I can't go to Game 5. Parking pass is available. I'm in the Fox Valley. PM me if you want it.
  8. Has anyone received their tickets yet? I sent my order in immediately when I got it but my account has not been charged yet except for parking. I'm hoping that nothing got overlooked.
  9. Personally I am a bit glad we are in a bit of a slump. This team has always been really streaky for as long as I can remember. There was no way we could keep up our August pace. We built up a really nice cushion of a division lead before we went in the tank. I'm hoping it will be perfect timing before we get hot again with huge momentum going into October. The last thing I would have wanted was for us to lock it up right away and finish September cooling off and losing a ton of games.
  10. I manage an auto repair shop. My advice to not spend another dime on that car. It is not worth it. Consider yourself fortunate that you were able to accumulate 190K on a Stratus. Head gaskets are tricky to determine because they typically leak internally. But that car is gonna turn into a money pit either way if it hasn't already. If you do decide to not take our advice and get the repairs done, make sure you have the water pump replaced whether or not it is bad. If you decide to do just the timing belt and skip the water pump, you will have to pay for all of that labor again when the water pump does decide to go bad in another 15K or so. Just do them both at the same time and save on the labor.
  11. I've had many different phones on different networks that dropped calls more frequently than my iPhones. Where's the venom for Kyocera, Nokia, etc.?
  12. Raspberries - Side 3 I suggest you listen to it over and over again as well.
  13. Woah man. I turned off the game early because I am not a "true" fan. Then I woke up this morning convinced that I heard the brewers scored 7 runs in the 9th to win the game. Turns out it was just a dream when I heard the score on the radio. What are these Brewers doing to me?
  14. Yeah I'd really think about going to a six man rotation the rest of September as soon as we clinch the division. Although that probably won't happen till mid-late September, I wonder if that would really even be worth it. But I would at least get our starters out a wee bit early. No more 120 pitch games the rest of the way. And I would also give our bench/role players a bit more at bats so they can hopefully be locked in come October. Although if the Phillies are within reach after we clinch the division, I say you gotta put the pedal to the floor. I think it's gonna be that important to have home field advantage if we go against Philly in the NLCS.
  15. Woah! What!? This year is just unbelievable. Whenever I think we go back to being the "same ol' Brewers" they pull off something like this.
  16. If he wants to come try to take over Rock's spot in the booth, I don't have a problem with that. But signing a re-retread pitcher just because he was great with us 4 years ago? I think we are beyond that as a team now.
  17. I'm wondering if Mr. Braun received any "benefits" during his time at the University of Miami. Doesn't bug me either way. I'm just wondering.
  18. • Kimi Räikkönen - He burst on the Formula 1 scene with little experience behind the wheel of a race car but he was already scoring points in a mid-level Sauber. When he moved to McLaren he was the fastest man in F1. He would have won 2 or 3 championships with them if the cars didn't break down constantly. In his first year in a Ferrari he finally got his World Championship beating out two others who had faster cars. He has never been a fan favorite because his quiet personality. He's a typical Finn. After his championship he got sick of dealing with the press and the fans. All he wants to do is go fast. Nothing else matters. Now that he has more money than god he's doing whatever he wants to do whether it's rallying in WRC, drinking vodka, snowmobiling or giving Nascar a try. When he was motivated, nobody could touch his speed. He loved and dominated "drivers tracks" like Spa and Suzuka. • Pavel Bure - He was the most electrifying player I have ever seen on the ice. Never have I seen anyone skate so fast. His career crumbled with constant injuries after he was traded away by the Canucks. • Rickie Weeks - I've been following his career since he was drafted. Even when he was playing with Beloit you knew he was gonna be a stud. It took a little later than I expected for him to shine in the majors but it is no doubt he is the catalyst for the team. He's a quiet guy and always seems focused and never lets anything get him down. Wish he would get rid of those dreads though. They are slowing him down on the basepaths. • Sterling Sharpe - This is the man who made Brett Favre's career. Sterling caught anything remotely thrown his way no matter how inaccurate his QB was. Dude was great gaining yards after the catch. And he always had a great smile on his face. He would have been up there with Jerry Rice had he stayed healthy. • Max Papis - He's had a decent career as a driver. He was a failure in F1. He only had a couple victories in Champ Car. But I will never forget the most determined drive I have ever seen. In the last hour of the 1996 24 hours of Daytona, Max took over a Ferrari that was currently running 2 laps down from the leading car. This Ferrari was damaged and worn from racing through the night. Everyone was just limping their cars along hoping to make it to the finish. But not Max. Mad Max gave the drive of his life that morning putting in one fastest lap after another, reeling in that lead car. He would have won the race if he had another 15 minutes but instead he finished 2nd place but on the same lap as the winner. Nobody remembers who won that race, but most sports car fans remember the legendary drive by Mad Max Papis. Nowadays he's playing around in Nascar trucks and some endurance races.
  19. Here's some pics of Milton taking in a game. http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa455/teatoe993/Milton%20Franklin%20Skog/IMG_0080.jpg http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa455/teatoe993/Milton%20Franklin%20Skog/Picture002.jpg Obsessed....Who was the breeder of Ruby? Milton's breeder "Everafter" was from Beaver Dam when I git him but they packed and moved to Florida a few years back. It'd be crazy if they had the same breeder. You can PM me.
  20. I totally didn't see your post till today. I have a 5 year old Iggy named Milton. If you ever need advice on the breed or what kind of training worked, just let me know. Backupcatchers has met and played with Milton a few times and he can probably vouch that he's a really well behaved dog. If you live or visit the Fox Valley we should introduce the two. Milton can show your pup the ropes.
  21. The Brewers game was before the Packers game. What WTMJ decided was that the pre-game show for a Packers pre-season game was more important than the Brewers game. Sorry, I'd rather listen to Uke instead of 3 hours of a pre-game show for a pre-season football game. Really WTMJ?
  22. Didn't we get Cruz for Ginter? De La Rosa put together a solid year in Colorado about three years after we gave up on him. Can't remember who came over from the Royals for him. Graffanino?
  23. Am I the only one who thinks it's ridiculous that Saito warms up to Bad To The Bone?
