  1. One other trivia item: Suter's 5.36 K/BB ratio is fourth among all starting pitchers. The only three above him: Jon Perrin (7.71), Victor Diaz (7.00), and David Burkhalter (5.75).
  2. Davies is only 23, and probably will improve. It's just his first full season in MLB.
  3. Clancy, they announced several hours ago that he's starting in Seattle tomorrow Sorry, the last week or so has been kinda rough on the RL front.
  4. When I saw he'd missed his start in Colorado Springs, I was wondering what happened. It will be interesting to see how Suter does.
  5. Suter not on the mound... what's up with that??
  6. Suter definitely needs to be added. The Brewers got lucky last year when they didn't put him on the 40-man roster.
  7. I think Counsell will be the guy for the long haul. Much like Yost, they see him as being able to develop the young players. I sometimes wonder what would have been if Yost hadn't been fired. Would the team have done better?
  8. Positive Results = Potential + Positive Performance Negative Results = Potential + Negative Performance or Negative Results = No Potential + Negative Performance Potential = Potential Suter falls into the first category. He may not have gobs of potential, but he does have stellar performance. He has a 3.5 era in Colorado Springs. Name any other starter other than Davies that can say that. Suter deserves a September call up and at least a shot at being a MLB LOOGY next year. I will take performance over potential 7 out of 10 times. I view performance as one of the best indicators of potential.
  9. Rough outing for Brent Suter today. 5 IP, 12 hits 7 ER, 2 gopher balls.
  10. I wonder if leaning towards potential as opposed to results isn't a mistake. It's why I did not have Kirby or Meideiros on my list at all (just not seeing the results), and it's why I have Suter at the top. Suter's results over the last two years, particularly at Colorado Springs, just speak louder than the potential of some players.
  11. My six? RHP Woodruff LHP Suter LHP Wang OF Phillips 3B Erceg OF Brinson
  12. I'd look at this a different way: Players to HAVE to be added LHP Josh Hader LHP Wei-Chung Wang LHP Brent Suter OF Brett Phillips OF Lewis Brinson C Josmil Pinto 1B Garrett Cooper Players to add if possible OF Victor Roache OF Kyle Wren RHP Jorge Ortega UT Nate Orf OF Johnny Davis
  13. Dallas Keuchel may be a "dream" comparison as he struck out even less hitters in the minors, but unfortunately Suter doesn't quite have the same extreme ground ball profile. He must be doing something to limit hard contact to have that HR rate in Colorado Springs though. The key stat is K/BB ratio and for Suter it's a fine 3.1/1. Kyle Hendricks is 2nd in the NL right now in ERA, and he's striking out a relatively modest 7.6 per 9 innings. His minor league rates nearly mirror Suter's too. Suter obviously keeps hitters off balance, and that's the most important thing to pitching successfully. With all the hard throwers out there in the game right now, the dart throwers and changeup artists are starting to flourish as they aren't all that common. The change-up artists and dart-throwers are undervalued in the current market. Maybe that is the next "Moneyball" path to success.
  14. I have to agree, based on the very small sample size.
  15. He's inducing a lot of ground balls. A good thing for Miller Park, IMO.
  16. My question: Does Brent Suter post a sub-3.00 ERA for the season at Colorado Springs? After this start, it's at 3.07 for the season.
  17. You have jumped the Jorge Ortega ship? He ranked highly for you previously if I remember? What happened to him do you think? Something's gone very wrong in Biloxi - the gopher balls and BB9 have just skyrocketed compared to 2015. That's part of it. If it had been at Colorado Springs, I'd have him higher, but that was at Biloxi, not a real hitter's park. So was 2015 a flash in the pan? Is he pitching through something? I just don't know what's wrong. but something's off. Perrin and Wang, though, have gone up based on their performance this year.
  18. I would like to see that, as well. Get long-term deals, make the arrangements. Heck, be able to build parks similar to Miller Park - at least in dimensions. That could be very helpful in assessing prospects.
  19. My "six most overlooked" are: LHP Brent Suter RHP Jon Perrin LHP Wei-Chung Wang OF/1B Garrett Cooper OF Michael Reed OF Troy Stokes Suter's my obvious pick - the numbers the last two years are simply undeniable. If he is not on the Brewers' 40-man for 2017, he'll be on someone else's. Wang, I think is overlooked as a former Rule V pick, but he's emerged as a superb pitching prospect the last two years. Both are pitchers I could easily see getting snapped up in the Rule V draft. Perrin's racking up loads of strikeouts and few walks. Cooper, Reed, and Stokes are very similar hitters: Good OBP skills, lots of doubles. They get overlooked because they aren't flashy power hitters or middle infielders.
  20. I was thinking more along the lines of Brewers closer Doug Jones, myself.
  21. Number 9 is about 20 spots too high. Number 29 can go up one slot.
  22. I consider all options open at this point. If Villar really develops 20 HR power to go with his other skills at the level he's performing at in 2016, then the Brewers deal him for a hefty return. The alternative, the Brewers could keep Villar at short, and see what Arcia can net in a trade (say for a prospect or two where the Brewers are thin... like at first base or third base).
  23. There is always the option to sell high with Perez, Villar, or other players.
  24. Soft tossing, lefty, with good command.... Harvard brain. Solid #5 if needed in back end of rotation.... Probably will forever be most famous for the Harvard Call Me Maybe viral vide he was in. If you ask the right people on here like you did, you will learn all about how he is our #1 prospect & future Ace/ Cy Young winner.... Kershaw, Sale, Madbum have real competition for top Lefty in baseball.... For today though.... Segura & Lucroy Trade look nice, as does our 2016 draft! Phillips on other hand is simply lost at plate Suter's numbers prior to today's game: 3.56 ERA, 1.3 BB9, 3 HR, 5.00 K/BB ratio in 91 IP Pitcher A's numbers: 6.05 ERA, 5.4 BB9, 3 HR, 2.13 KBB ratio in 38.2 IP Pitcher B's numbers: 6.81 ERA, 6.2 BB9, 12 HR, 1.20 K/BB ratio in 78.2 IP Pitchers A and B were highly-touted in the pre-season - making the top 5 in the pre-season poll. Pitcher A is Josh Hader. Pitcher B is Jorge Lopez, who is back in AA.
