  1. He already did it. Nyjer Morgan - T Dot @TheRealTPlush Plush just got done skating with San Jose Sharks!!! Thanks for a wonderful time!!! Big Joe is the Man!!!
  2. Here's a good article on Prince's offense in Comerica; Prince Fielder's power numbers translate just fine to Comerica Park I think this press conference is a little surprising. Maybe the media is tougher in Detroit, but it seems like the media there isn't fully sold on what they have in Fielder. One guy sounded a bit miffed that Cabrera was going to move to 3B and flat said it was a "real possibility" that it would cause problems for the team and asked Fielder if he would move to DH to not cause problems. Another guy prefaced that his question was completely serious and wanted to know about Prince being husky and if the contract had anything in it about Prince's weight. Another guy referred to Prince as a YouTube sensation for his on-field issues, seeming to play into the notion that Prince is a hothead. Hopefully it's not indicative of the relationship he'll have there.
  3. I was in Miller Park for Prince's first career homerun, was there to see him hit 50, was there when Reed Johnson robbed him of the grand slam, was in the left field bleachers when he hit the walk-off against the Pirates in the final week of 2008, his last Brewers at-bat and so many others. I've known for three years this day was coming, but still sad to see an era end. Best of luck in Detroit for Prince. Here's to eclipsing everything his father did.
  4. With some great PR spin, I suppose that can work. But, it depends on the details of the case, because it sure looks like Braun's team is challenging a flaw of the system, which removes credibility from the system. And by that same token, Braun getting suspended for 50 games doesn't mean the game hasn't been cleaned up, they very easily could use Braun as an outlier who got caught by their system.
  5. Ya, I agree, really seems like Boras trying to create leverage to get what he wants. It really feels like it's just down to the Nationals, but the Rangers have always made sense to me, and I think they have to be in on some level. I'd be surprised if he ended up anywhere besides Washington or Texas.
  6. From Jon Heyman on Twitter @JonHeymanCBS Ryan braun ruling is expected to take time, perhaps even weeks. #crew
  7. I found this tweet from Haudricourt funny; Tom @Haudricourt @JonHeymanCBS says Fielder down to Final Four of sorts. My educated guess of Final 4 would be Nats, Rangers, O's and Mariners (maybe Jays). So basically down to all the same teams it's always been, sans the Cubs.
  8. Milwaukee would be easier for me, but I could do Madison too. And I'm sold on the AJ Bombers hosting!
  9. The cost is surely prohibitive, especially if you do the wine pairings, and it was higher for NYE as well, but it has always been worth it, because like you said, it's as much about the experience as the food itself. The first time I went there was probably still the best because I so anticipated it, I literally was giggling after the first few courses. There is good food in Milwaukee, but certainly nothing approaching the level of Alinea.
  10. This thread has certainly turned into a lame-off, and I can't reverse course on it much. We actually didn't have plans, but got an unexpected free night, as Grandpa offered to keep the boys an extra night by his place. We got an early dinner downtown and caught a movie, had a drink together at midnight at home. It was a good night by our standards! Pre-kids we did the fancypants dinner at Alinea in Chicago with two of our good friends for a few years. We can't really justify the cost since the boys though and haven't done that in 3 years now, but it is sorely missed by us both each year.
  11. I got Arkham City as an early Christmas present for myself as Amazon had it for only $30 one day. I've hardly played anything since. I loved Arkham Asylum, and it's one of the few games I have 100% completion on for achievements. I'd like to get 100% in this one too, but I don't know if I will, there is just so much more this time. I'm somewhere around 65% right now and still so many riddler trophies to collect. Also, for two of the challenges I'm in top 500 people. The story in this one was far superior to Asylum I think, and as with the first, it's a simple joy to play.
  12. This is Rollins' quote from McCalvy's write up;
  13. I hope Ramirez does a better job buttoning his jersey in the future.
  14. But from the article, she didn't specifically complain about the money, but she did complain about the 5 years. It sounds to me that the issue was they wanted a contract that would cover the rest of Albert's career, nothing there about the dollar figure being insulting.
  15. The being "mad at God" line because they didn't get the mega offer they wanted out of the gate is pretty disgusting, I will grant that. You could bend that line on them so badly. Fair enough point, however, everyone paying attention to the reports for the last year knew what they were looking for. Now, that's not necessarily market value, but I can (on some level) understand the frustration with a team telling you they want you to be with them for life, and then submit an offer for half of what you're looking for.
  16. Isn't she also saying however, that the 10/210M offer wasn't actually on the table like it's being reported?
  17. I had seen it reported that he didn't want to be a part of a rebuilding process that is assumed to happen in Chicago.
  18. I took it to mean that 6M of the 3rd year is deferred to a future year.
  19. Contract details from Ken Rosenthal:
  20. I have a glimmer of hope that he can prove his innocence and I want more than anything right now that he can do that. But that doesn't override the shock and disappointment in this moment. It has almost been a third of my life since I've been this heartbroken in sports. 1990 the Braves traded Dale Murphy, and I grew up a huge Braves fan. I was 12 and I cried reading the news in the paper.
  21. McCalvy says it's official, K-Rod accepted arby.
