  1. For the record, there is nothing wrong with your thread vannzee52, and the response by turborickey and miggs721 was uncalled for.
  2. A bunch more pics of the sign being hung today; http://brewersbeat.mlblogs.com/archives/2011/01/miller_park_scoreboard_progres.html
  3. For anyone not currently following Axford on twitter, he's about 160 followers away from 5,000. When he gets to 5,000 he's going to ask some trivia questions and give away game worn items and autographs.
  4. Must be using stadium food pricing.* I'm only half joking.
  5. I'm not sure how much money would have been saved. Prince made 11mm last season, and even in an off year, he'd still get a raise in arbitration. I don't see this as a move to try to appease Prince for resigning in the least really.
  6. I wouldn't look past the value Boras is likely finding with all the media promoting the Teixeira comparison, as Boras' has already compared his expectations for Fielder's next contract against what Teixeira received.
  7. I voted twice now and placed on Facebook. John Axford also shared the link on Facebook and twitter yesterday.
  8. McCalvy helped confirm Axford's account when he created it, and had a tweet that he was the only Brewer on twitter. Axford has been very engaging with it so far. He also tends to promo Hunter Pence a lot.
  9. In theory that makes sense to me, however, the AL East has taken the AL Wildcard 4 years straight, and 12 of 16 overall. Granted this division doesn't stack up to the AL East, but still, we've had several years of great teams in that division who have to play each other a ton and they're still grabbing the wild card.
  10. This seems like a wasted move in my opinion. It seemed like general knowledge that they were basically throwing away this season and waiting to get some money off their books. With their age, I don't see them being one #2/#3 type guy away from being in the run for the division. Does it make them a better team, sure. But, in my eyes, all this move did was move them from possibly 5th in the division this year, to likely 4th. The NSBB guys are a mix on the trade, some love, some hate. However, this does look like a good trade on Tampa's end.
  11. Another update today; http://twitpic.com/3nby6f
  12. Thanks for the reply. Of course the tax credit just ended last week, which I knew, but had no real choice but to chance it. However, it had to be installed by then, so from the time I found out about the possibility of needing a new furnace, my odds of getting all of that done was probably about impossible anyway. My neighbor got new windows to cash in on the tax credit and it took them almost two months to be able to get to her they were so backed up.
  13. Good luck with your new decision. Frankly, I love what I do for work, but somedays I think my wife has the best job. I could understand making that decision.
  14. Just under a month ago, we needed some service on our furnace and the man who worked on it warned me this would probably be the last winter it would survive, and maybe not even through the winter. I didn't have much choice but to hope for the best for the winter, but I think I just ran out of that hope. I noticed early this morning the furnace came on 3 times in less than 30 minutes. The second time I felt the air and it wasn't very warm, but the third time it was. After work I noticed the same thing, but as the night has gone on tonight the temperature in the house is slowly going down, even as the furnace kicks on. This is the first time I've ever had to replace something like a furnace. Any suggestions? What should I be looking for? Companies? Odds I can get this financed with crappy credit?
  15. Agreed. A lot of people act like Prince is John Kruk or something, but I think he's a beast of a man, more-so than a sack of a man.
  16. I didn't get to listen to much of that segment, but I was amused that following that, Haudricourt tried to compare him to Hardy defensively, and then "an older version of Escobar, except with power."
  17. Some tweets from Kevin Goldstein for what it's worth; This seems to reminiscent of the Badger Blogger episode for me to get to excited about it right now.
  18. As a father myself, I can't even begin to imagine. My deepest sympathies.
  19. For the record, I saw a report last week that quoted a source as saying the Brewers were one of the teams who had checked in on Harden.
  20. I fully agree, I'm really excited to see a player go where he wants and realize $100 million is still insane. I just wish he loved Texas more.
  21. I have an HTC Desire, which I partially got because I didn't want to move to AT&T. I would say that the experience of the iPhone is cleaner than Android based phones, but I still enjoy my HTC. Apple is notorious for how strict they are about what appears in their market and phone, versus the open development for Android, but the difference is very noticeable in the products. There is a lot of junk out there for the Android, and it can cause performance issues on the phone sometimes. Many apps are flooded with reviews of crashing the various phones that Android is used on. If you really think you would like to game on it, I would say iPhone. Currently the Android market doesn't have many great games, and no great exclusives that I'm aware of. The two I've downloaded and enjoyed the most, are originally iPhone games. However, the other deciding factor for me was several of my friends who have the iPhone 4 told me that it is a great device and an awful phone. For them, they didn't really call as much they found anyway because they were so much more connected with it, but they said if I needed to make a lot of calls with it, I may get frustrated. To me that was a big deal too.
  22. Surely we all remember this gem, but it deserves to be here with that gem.
  23. This conversation moved to the political forum some time ago. Probably best to keep it there. http://brewerfanpoliticalscene.yuku.com?topic=754
  24. To go along with TooLiveBrew, TH just posted; ESPNChicago is reporting that Brewers are still in on Garza but I was told that the talks with Tampa did not move forward.
