  3. I posted this in the Netflix thread recently, so sorry for the repeat, but the issue with Netflix's streaming is that the studios didn't want any part of it, so Netflix worked out a deal with the Starz channel to stream the content it had access too. They backdoored their way in, intent to get the studios to realize this was a viable method they needed to work with. The studios were supposedly going to punish Netflix and Starz for this, but as with the Warner Bros announcement yesterday, it appears Netflix's gamble is starting to pay off. So hopefully their catalog can grow quite a bit, but it won't be without limits for awhile as studios and content providers try to protect their existing models of PPV and DVD sales.
  4. We do cloth diapers as well, trust me, there are still plenty of things to spend money on. I'm with you in that I typically hate giving gift cards because of the impersonal aspect, but man all of those Target gift cards we got where a godsend.
  5. The XBOX 360 also can stream Netflix, without a disc. The PS3 does or did at least require a disc to use Netflix at first. This was going to be fixed in a patch, but I don't know if that patch is out yet. The 360 also has a marketplace where you can rent and/or buy television shows and movies. I agree this is the inevitable future, but I don't think it's rounded out enough yet for me to switch fully. I use the streaming Netflix far more than I do the disc service now, and if my DVR misses a show I've paid a few dollars to get it on the 360 and watch it on my large television versus watching it free on hulu sometimes as well. The problems are two fold as far as I'm concerned. 1 - Bandwidth would become an issue if everyone started getting HD content delivery in these fashions. 2 - The movie and television companies are making several of the same stubborn mistakes the RIAA made over 10 years ago, in clinging to their existing business models and fighting against the future of their industry.
  6. If it's their first kid, they have enough going on at the hospital already, that you don't really have to worry about a gift like that at the moment. As for the gift, not only do you get far to many clothes, they probably already have far to many if they had any baby showers. Figure out a gift, and take it there after they get home. Target gift cards were awesome for us to go stock up on supplies. Otherwise they probably had a registry somewhere as well, possibly at Target or Babies'r'Us, which you could check and see what they still need.
  7. My wife and I went today. Very glad we still got a chance to go see it before it left. I noticed the Attanasio name on the entrance, I hadn't heard that before. That's pretty cool that they helped that happen.
  8. Netflix's streaming resembles something like HBO because they backdoored their way into being able to do it. The movie studios wouldn't agree to let Netflix do this, so they made a deal with the Starz channel instead to stream the content they have access to. This means that some movies eventually can't be streamed anymore right now, when Starz loses rights to broadcast, so to does Netflix. Word is that the studios are very upset with Starz and Netflix, but Netflix is hoping to prove to the studios that this is a viable option for them. You would think these companies would have learned the lesson that the culture has changed and the way media is delivered has changed and is changing. Yet, here again, they try to cling to their outdated methods in fear that they'll lose revenue, instead of working to find the new revenue streams.
  9. The game they played with you about jacking your rate up and lowering your credit line to just above what you had on there, and using the debt-credit ratio excuse, is being played by countless credit card companies right now in response to new government regulations that take effect in February. We have three credit cards and all three have done that and one was an American Express that we literally have never used for a purchase. You should have also gotten a notice with the rate increase allowing you to opt out of the rate increase, but in doing so you would also be closing your account with them. Per law they have to make that offer to you 45 days in advance now. Edit: Didn't have jschris' response when I opened this thread. Sorry to echo some of what was just said.
  10. Full Article Glad to see he's not a Cub or Cardinal. Added transaction icon --cc
  11. It's been an strange off season for the Braves. Doing lots of reaching and dumping a lot of salary. The Mets aren't moving so far, and the Phillies are starting to lock up the East already.

  14. My driveway is slush. I'd much rather prefer real snow. The slush is the worst.
  15. I really feel bad for DeFelice. I really liked his story and was happy to see him finding success finally.
  16. Walking Tour It's a bit different for a baseball stadium and might not appeal to all, but I like it personally.
  17. The difference being in what they revealed and why I suppose. Why's Agassi coming clean? To make money on a book and interview circuit it would seem to me. Plus his revelations don't alter what he did/accomplished on the court.
  18. Agreed, I try to make myself feel better about it by thinking of it this way.
  19. On the radio broadcast, Morgan and Miller are discussing who should be MVP. Morgan was saying Petite because he won 2 games (assuming a win tonight). Miller made a case for Matsui and it was clear Morgan never supported that idea. He justified it with saying he couldn't vote for someone who didn't play in ever game, minutes after saying it should be Petite for playing in 2. Oh Joe Morgan.
  20. How did Joe Buck think that ARod homer was debatable? He acts like the camera stuck out 5 feet from the wall.
  21. I'm not sure about your situation, and I'm no expert, but just to give you some hope, my friend had his identity stolen and lost tens of thousands of dollars from his accounts, and he got it all back. It took some time, but the bank repaid everything that was taken. Best of luck man.
  22. Suppan's place is called Soup's Sports Grill and he's actually very involved in the day to day of it.
  23. I think it's actually very possible that Kazmir was paid off. I paid off Matt Holliday.
  24. Caught up on some DVRed shows this weekend, including several episodes of Modern Family. Very good show, not quite great, but certainly better than most comedies out there right now.
