  1. Kotsay ZiPS (RoS) .258/.315/.356 Hart ZiPS (RoS) .268/.323/.466
  2. Boggs is likely below average, Kotsay should be limited to 1B.
  3. Buried in Haudricort's notes column Roenicke mentioned playing Kotsay in CF one of these days. Is he really that blind to Kotsay's many limitations? Doesn't he realize Boggs is on the team and can actually play defense and projects as well as Kotsay offensively? Yes Kotsay has a .362 OBP but take away the 3 IBB and it drops down to .333 and projects at .315 going forward. The offending quotes: "Roenicke has been patient with Gomez, and with Nyjer [/b]Morgan [/b]hurt so often the options have been limited, but for the first time he floated the idea of 35-year-old Mark [/b]Kotsay [/b]seeing some action in center field."He'll wind up in center field one of these days," said Roenicke. "He came and talked to me a couple of days ago about it. Physically, he's feeling really well. "I wouldn't do it too much. But to spell 'Gomey' once in a while, I may do it."" http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/121449109.html
  4. The thing is that Morgan is almost as good defensively and is far superior offensively so Gomez really should still be behind him.
  5. Of course the Brewers didn't have a losing record at the end of April.
  6. Comparing Gomez to Bush sells Gomez short. Gomez's defense alone makes about an average starter. His UZR/150 is 15.1 over his career. The problem is that people see Rickey Henderson when he's not that guy. He's a fine #8 hitter. Teams just keep giving him an extra 150 PAs a year that he just shouldn't get.
  7. Of course you could also lift McGehee for Betancourt so you have a guy with some speed on the bases
  8. Another scoreless game means that its time to fire the hitting coach! I think that Sveum has 2 games to hope the Brewers come around or his return to Milwaukee will be to pack his stuff.
  9. His one brother was there on the Small Council. They haven't really dealt with Greyjoy yet or gotten to the Tullys or Freys. You can sort of tell how much they are going to deal with right now given their casting you can see in the viewer guide. Stannis Baratheon hasn't been cast yet for example. (I do think they have cast some of the roles but not for this season since I think Lord Frey has been cast) The pdf also has one of the better maps http://i.cdn.hbo.com/asse...viewers-guide-150-lo.pdf
  10. Of course part of the problem is that the bench doesn't have enough players on it so you can't PH in a tie game.
  11. I'll chill out on that if I'm beginning to sound like a broken record player. It is not just UZR, it is all defensive stats that I find very arbitrary at best and honestly pretty useless as opposed to common sense scouting. For instance, what is the stat for ground ball that the average Single A player gets to easily that Fielder or Betancourt let through the infield? What is the stat that describes the range of Mark Kotsay in the outfield? etc etc yadda yadda Its called UZR. Look at the breakdowns on fangraphs.
  12. Don't forget Lucroy. Though again him hitting 8th has been some what of a waste.
  13. Because the bench wasn't quite thin enough.
  14. This is the second traditional DHer the Brewers have played this year! That has to be some sort of record for the past decade!
  15. Kemp has been the better Dodger OFer. But there are a bunch of good NL choices (Braun, Votto, Holliday (.510 OBP!), Berkman). Of course in the AL its a no brainer.
