  1. Fields can't really play 3B. Neither player is good though Fields can provide a bit of power.
  2. There are few players at SS that couldn't improve on Betancourt, Wilson is one of them.
  3. Don't understand the DS, is Loe pitching the 9th? He would if it was tied?
  4. I would've, but Roenicke seems to refuse to use him for more than one inning like Macha did.The fact Axford could go more than one inning was one of the reasons he was so valuable last year. A WAR of 2.0 from a reliever is big especially given how they calculate replacement level
  5. Almonte could be put to the 60 as well or if healthy DFA'd
  6. And he has to play a better OF than Kotsay. Can any of the stat heads confirm? Its mostly scouting reports from the minors but everything I've seen says he's average which makes him much better than Kotsay.
  7. Greinke at about 100 pitches in a 1 run game hitting for himself in the 7th? The Brewer bench isn't that bad.
  8. After Kotsay's impressive 0-4 yesterday how could you sit him?
  9. iTunes is terrible. Apple just doesn't really care. The worst part is that even when its just in the background it still have 4 processes running. I don't care if they aren't major drains, background programs shouldn't have that many processes because that's just asking to create a memory leak.
  10. I think people don't understand just how bad Betancourt is. Betancourt's UZR/150 for his career is -8.2. Ryan's is 8.1. Betancourt's ZiPS®: .265/.292/.399; Ryan's ZiPS®: .245/.302/.323. That doesn't make up for the huge defensive difference. I don't care for Ryan particularly but Betancourt just should be replaced. If they just played Counsell more it would help
  11. And a minority of owners can basically block anything. On anything major you need 25 owners to agree to it. I think people need to understand that the CBA really doesn't matter because the big issues are owner vs owner. The last CBA allowed for a worldwide draft and more draft changes if the owners could agree to them, they couldn't.
  12. Then why are we playing a terrible glove that get's out 70%+ of the time?
  13. Kotsay isn't as good defensively and he isn't any better offensively. The ZiPS® wOBAs: Kotsay .300Gomez .299Boggs .303 Kotsay just shouldn't ever play the field, he's isn't now nor has he ever been the best option.
  14. If they are dime a dozen why don't the Brewers have a single one?
  15. Not really. Ramos blocked the plate great, Boggs lead with his arms and pushed Ramos over. Ramos prevented him from even attempting a slide.
  16. Another game of Kotsay in CF. Roenicke wants to miss the playoffs doesn't he?
  17. That's just not true. He had a bad 2009 and then people wrote him off. He hit .270/.370/.529 last year and is hitting .299/.373/.530 this year. Now I wouldn't want him to try to field and his splits vs LHers are to be more pronounced as he ages but the talk of him being through was highly premature.
  18. Well yes and no. Because sometimes people forget stolen bases and its hard to just do the calculations so it can be hard to see some things like how Carlos Gomes and Mark Kotsay have been basically the same offensively this year, wOBA of.298 vs wOBA of .303.
  19. Isn't the reason to carry 3 catcher is so Nieves never hits past the 5th inning in a close game?
  20. The reason I used wOBA here is because Punto and Betancourt have such different skill sets that looking at slash lines say very little. Punto gets on base at an OK rate but has no power. Betancourt doesn't get on base but has decent power. To get any balance you have to look at some weighted numbers. The whole point is that the offensive difference between Punto and Betnacourt is squat. Neitehr is good but Punto is a great defender while if he could hit at asll Betancourt wouldn't be at short. Fans rate Punto at 4 out of 5 with Betancourt getting a 2.5.
  21. The question is more is he healthy enough to come off the DL or are they going to have to move him to the 60 Day (and continue to pay him) if they need another 40 man spot.
  22. He strikes out because he works deep into counts not because he swings at junk. His O-swing% is the lowest among regulars on the team.
  23. Actually it wouldn't. Well the difference between the two is minimal. Kotsay has 450K in roster bonuses based on being on the team past the All Star break and on PAs.
  24. On one hand we have scouts saying he's great and stats showing him 18.4 runs saved per 150 games over the average player. On the other? Some Twins fans upset because Gardenhire played him out of position?
