  1. Well a 25% HR/FB rate is unlikely to continue.so his slugging will likely come down.
  2. How about the fact that Loe isn't very good? A 4.59 FIP in AAA with a 5.25 K/9 doesn't scream make a move for me.
  3. He had a finger injury in 2007 which had him only pitch 35 innings. You'd think that wouldn't be big, but his K rate never seemed to recover so i wonder if somethign else was involved.
  4. Hart is 9th in OPS among NL OFers. Good job Brewers leaving him off the ballot...
  5. I knew the Astros were bad offensively but to look at their lineup just drives it home. They have 3 of 8 position players with an OBP above .300
  6. Eveland has never recovered from his injury- he went from striking everyone out to striking no one out.
  7. Lawrie is an option for RF he's just liekly 2 years away still. I just don't see teh value of trading Fielder until the offseason. There just aren't that many teams out there right now who need a 1B but come the offseason there will be. For example both Chicago teams are set at 1B right now but will have an opening come November.
  8. The A's and Braves could both use a corner OFer. And the Padre's could use a whole new outfield.
  9. I bet he tells his clients the sure way to loose money is to panic and make moves just because.
  10. Almost certainly deals with his marital issues. And his defense during his time in Milwaukee has been poor.
  11. "I got a lease rate of 12%! That's one of the highest you can get!" "Ha! Reverse psychiatry!"
  12. People forget how good the ptiching was in 2006. That's only 4 seasons ago-Bush and Capuano were both mid 20s guys who one could expect to still be pitching at a similar level in 2010.
  13. Fielder is the only one with a real shot at the HOF.
  14. Keep in mind Randy Johnson didn't become "Randy Johnson" until he was 29. Now he wasn't terrible before that, but lefties with the stuff Parra has are rare. As for Crawford, it doesn't seem he wants to paly anywhere but left field and the Rays look to be giving it one final push this year so he is unlikely to be available.
  15. The Giants really don't have anything the Brewers would love outside of Baumgartner who isn't being moved and Posey who is unlikely to be moved and the Brewers would then need to move a catcher. Zack Wheeler is a 2009 HS pick with a 95 mph fastball but command issues and no 3rd pitch and is years away (though already 20 despite being a 2009 pick out of HS). The Giants gave him $3.3m so who knows if they would trade him even. The Giants also have bunch of OF prospects that could be included but most of them are seriously struggling in AA right now.
  16. Its not like there are a bunch of guys who are ready to pitch right now. Estrada and Parra should get a bunch of innings but Butler is still hurt, Lofgren isn't close to being ready, Loe can't get LHers out and the guys in AA need time.
  17. Because of three big reasons: 1) NBA players get the most money by resigning and are so willing to do so 2) Players traded in the middle of a contract in baseball can demand another trade of become a FA at season's end if they have enough service time 3) Players signed as FA cannot be traded until June 15th of the following season. Occasionally you'll get an Arroyo who gave Boston a discount before FA and got shipped off to Cincy, but that's rare.
  18. Suppan was predictable, Looper was not. Looper was a consistent below average arm who fell off the map last season.
  19. The great Willie Davis had a leadoff hitter with a sub .300 OBP for an entire season. So no, he isn't an improvement.
  20. Why would Texas trade Smoak? Baltimore might sign Fielder in FA but they are so far buried in the AL East right now it makes no sense to trade for him. The Braves really don't have a pale to play Fielder right now. You're basically left with the Giants and maybe teh Dodgers at this point. Maybe the A's if they get on a run.
  21. Davis isn't giving up a bunch of line drives. If he was, yeah his pitches are too easy to hit. He has a GB% above his career norm. The fact that the Brewers aren't turning them into outs is account of bad defense and luck. Davis is "pitching to contact" and see what that gets you with the Brewers? Hoffman is an entirely different story.
  22. "Davis outpitched his peripherals forever, it shouldn't be surprising that it's finally caught up to him for an extended amount of time." That makes no sense. That's like saying because you got heads 10 times in a row your going to get a string of tails. It doesn't work that way.
  23. Is there any player this team has put out there that isnt terrible at the position they play? Gomez. And Weeks and Zaun/Kottaras are about average. Hopefully Escobar's defense hasn't been over sold by highlight reel plays and he actually does become good.
