  1. Ike Davis: .296/.409/.537 and taking the Mets out of the Fielder sweepstakes.
  2. Oswalt might force the receiving team to pick up his option to waive his no trade clause. Same with Berkman.
  3. AAA is better than AA. Yes there are more prospects in AA buts thats for two reasons. 1)They fail at AA and thats the end. 2)Veterans and injury replacements will find themselves on AAA rosters. But the level of play in AAA is higher than AA.
  4. Oakland also took the gamble because they needed a big land to give them a shot at the AL West. Yeah its an expensive gamble but if you wanted an potential impact pitcher on a one year deal Sheets was about it.
  5. Yes Bill, Kottaras is doing the little things like crushing the ball. An ISO of .321
  6. Wolf isn't getting the corners. Add in some bad control and this could be bad.
  7. Gerut is better. Though given that right now Edmonds can't throw Gerut in RF maybe the correct call.
  8. Want to hear something funny? Hawkins WAR last year was 0.3, its 0.2 for the Brewers right now. Things like that happen when your K rate nearly doubles.
  9. There is no data. All we have is Brian and Bill never talking about it anymore.
  10. Hawkings' FIP is 3.42 and xFIP is 3.59. That's not great but good for a reliever. Small sample, more bad defense by the Brewers, plus Macha letting him go too long against the Cubs has inflated his ERA. That said he isn't some great relief ace (I hate the deal being 2 years) and should be treated no differently than any other reliever (ie no reason to let him "work out of trouble")
  11. Brian Anderson obviously got the TBS job by thinking every single fly ball is a home run
  12. Given the Brewers are now not scheduled to face a lefty starter until after the Braves series it may not matter that much since for the next week the person shouldn't see the field and hardly hit. But I'd much rather Cain be out there 2 times a week vs LHP than Hopper or Edmonds.
  13. Related to this, I know that Macha never liked to shift as much as Yost but it seems that the Brewers infield has basically stopped doing any shifting this year. Is Escobar's range fooling them into thinking that the positioning won't matter anymore?
  14. Norris Hopper stinks. Macha brought up Cain's name for a reason I would think. Must mean he's ready to come back.
  15. Milwaukee's DER this year has been 0.658, last in the majors by a decent amount. Any feeling as to why? Now the Brewers likely only have 2 above average defenders in Escobar and Gomez and poor defenders at 3B, LF and 1B this still seems really weird. Just luck so far?
  16. For some perspective on luck at this point, Doug Davis' xFIP is 4.00, Zito's is 4.05.
  17. If Katin is still hurt I could see that(and he'd need to be put on the 40 man). Witrado likely picked him out since he's a RHer who can play CF on the 40 man. The other option would be Heether.
  18. Hey after Kottaras of the .250/.410/.571 line was moved down to 8th you can never be too sure
