  1. There has been talk of defensive peak being around 24. So Braun could very well be getting worse.
  2. For teams stuff, BP's DER says a lot: http://www.baseballprospe...able/index.php?cid=69267
  3. Does the Pac 10 go after UNLV? Yeah its not a great program but it brings in another major city without having to deal with Utah.
  4. No one said you can't get decent relief arms. But relief arms aren't a big deal.
  5. A contact pitcher with a 37.5% GB rate isn't a good pitcher.
  6. Fielder was 2nd in WPA last year to Pujols. So no.
  7. The owner has said he was cutting the team to the bone after this year. Basically shelling up until he gets a new stadium.
  8. Same for Gomez. I wish we would get Gomez and Escobar almost every day no matter the results as both are probably a big part of the near future of this team. Lucroy as well now that I think about it. I disagree. Gomez could easily be gone by the end of 2011 if not sooner. Depends on where they move Lawrie and how fast Gomez's salary rises.
  9. Yep the SEC is terrible academically. There are some good schools, some decent schools and then Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and LSU. The Pac-10 has Standford, Cal and UCLA while the Big 10 may not be as top heavy as the Pac 10 its worst school is now Nebraska and each of its member schools aside from maybe Penn State and Nebraska have top of the line areas. If teams keep getting pouched I could see the Big East offering a slot to Memphis to replace a Syracuse or Pitt.
  10. You'll get it down to 1-10 over and lose half the points most likely. Most places in Wisconsin the fine will stay same but you won;t see a big premium increase.
  11. Did Weeks really attempt a straight steal of 3b or did the catcher recover a bobble or something? Because you may not know this but Hart has been hitting with power lately....
  12. Or they could give up a lot less and get Konerko.
  13. Kennedy's FIP is 4.79. We have a bunch of pitchers like that. For example Doug Davis.
  14. Hart in LF is fine, he probably could be a plus defensive LFer.
  15. As mostly a reliever. Make him a starter and he's the same as he was last year, below replacement level.
  16. You're not getting any top flight major league pitcher with little service time for Fielder.
  17. BP has the Sox projected at 90 wins, the Rays and Yankees at 97. That's a huge difference. They still are given about a 30% playoff shot but the more injuries that pile up the harder it is to just keep applying cover ups. Its hard to just give up though since they are like the 3rd best team in baseball.
  18. On Homer's show they had a source(someone with Madison most likely, they are actually in Madison today) saying Missouri is not on the table
  19. Costco has this TV on sale : http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?whse=BC&topnav=&prodid=11523644&ec=BC-EC877-CatHome&pos=9&lang=en-US I've been looking to get a combo TV/Monitor for a while and was wondering if anyone has any familiarity with this as a monitor. I think 1920x1080 might be pushing it at 25" and its contrast ratio isn't great but it does have a really fast response time.
  20. Prince will cost money and prospects, Dunn only money. I'm not saying signing Dunn long term is smart, only that looks to be where the Nats are headed. I agree that the market for 1B at the deadline is slim. Oakland doesn't have the money, while Loney has turned back into Loney the Dodgers may not have the money either, the Giants could bring up Posey and actually play him, Smoak has started to hit in Texas, and Tampa likely doesn't have the money. I think waiting until the offseason when the Red Sox, likely the Dodgers and both Chicago teams will be shopping will be a better choice if Fielder is traded.
  21. Some think Axford can't get lefties over a long period out making him very iffy as a closer long term. That said most relievers don't to the majors until their late 20s since most are failed starters who still have somathing but not enough for 3 pitches of more than an inning at a time.
  22. The Nats have been talking about extending Dunn and Dunn at best is a 1B.
  23. But people are always demanding the Brewer sell high. If you want the Brewers to sell high you should be demanding that Braun and Gallardo be moved.
  24. The Cubs suck as much as the Brewers but for twice the price!
  25. The Red Sox and both Chicago teams could have 1B openings in the offseason. i really only see a big opportunity if Smoak continues to struggle in Texas(of course he's hitting .421 for June so he may start pushing his numbers up) or Atlanta decides to make one last big push for Chipper and Cox.
