I wouldn't. Placement really doesn't mean who is better than who. If anything this spring it looked like the Brewers are higher on Lucroy than Salome. But Salome's 2009 and his development point to him being at AAA in addition to the hit his value would take if demoted.
At this point the Red Sox might be buried by May so adding Fielder won't do squat. And why would the Brewers take back Loney from the Dodgers? At this point he's a non-tender candidate.
Keep in mind that say if Cliff Lee is moved this summer he'll be replacing a guy who is likely barely a major league player. Fielder would likely be repalcing a decent hitter. Now add the fact that the drop off from Lee to the next available guy can be huge while Fielder to Derrek Lee or Adam Dunn or Lance Berkman isn't.
It was close, if Escobar brought the glove down to the bag and forced McCutcheon to slide into the glove he would have been out but he tagged him on the leg.
But the only reason MLB is talking realingment is because of competitive balance due to the Yankees. Yes its ass-backwards but hey what did you expect?
Wow that's foolish. Zambrano hasn't been an ace in years but he's still an above average starter. Why not bring up John Gaub for example if you want a bullpen change?
Salome's stock has fallen among analysts which likely means among some scouts as well. His mediocre year last year combined with his injury history has pushed his value down.
No you can't. Fielder is likely to come in under his true value. That doesn't mean the Brewers can match the years (but I don't think he'll get 8years/$200m from anyone), but at $20m a year Fielder is arguably slightly underpaid.
How about the fact he doesn't play? He only got in 82 games last year and only 68 in 2007. Salome is at catcher or DH. Lucroy could possibly play 1B but he doesn't project that well there. Either are better off traded than trying to shoehorn them somewhere else.
