  1. Like I think its bad year to trade Fielder because the number of sluggers in FA its a go year to trade Cameron because the number of decent CFers out there is approximately zero. Getting a Keith Ginter type from the Yankees isn't a good return.
  2. Sabathia will spend as nearly as much time in Florida for Spring Training as he will in New York.
  3. If Melvin takes on Igawa at full salary its really questionable if he or Kenny Williams was the more swindled by Cashman this offseason.
  4. No this is the year to do that since salaries have been actually below trend this offseason. Mark A has never taken a chance. Baseball team ownership is a rigged game where everyone makes money, just how much is up in the air. Attanasio has made more with the Brewers due to operations than the Seligs ever did.
  5. The pick from last year is protected. The Yankees get one first round pick no matter what.
  6. No that $4m won't be cheap. That's more than what Vargas cost and he was cut because of it.
  7. Well Hardy is likely to start 145-150 games. That's a few more that you might wish for Hall to start, but backup SS tend to stink. Vizquel might come cheap enough
  8. Well the Jays could use a MI and if they are sick of Rolen's injuries they might take it for the difference in money,
  9. McClung is already on the roster at minimum. Unless its the only way to get Kennedy (a pitcher the Yankees should be trading anyway) Igawa is just negative weight.
  10. A Rolen for Hall swap seems more likely.
  11. Hall can back up 2B/SS. The tropical breeze can cover 2B/CF if need be
  12. His UZR/150 was -12.8, -4.3 the last 2 seasons. The problem is that he only really played 3B full time in 2003-2004. He was -14.2 and -4.3 those seasons. He isn't good. Then again Mike Lamb was-17.2 last season so its not like the guy getting most of the playing time right now is good.
  13. Not, its the Yankees using up the amount of FAs they can sign while still wanting to get a hitter.
  14. There is a salary cap-the Yankees just don't care. The luxury tax is a salary cap. It has reigned in the Red Sox a bit but the Yankees don't care.
  15. I wonder if this means they are gearing up to trade Howard in a year. Ibanez for three years at that price is just a bad deal.
  16. If the Brewers didn't offer Sheets arby you'd think that Sheets must be seriously injured right? Well the Dodgers didn't pick up Penny's option despite having to pay $2m to buy him out on an $8m contract. A healthy Penny at a marginal cost of $6m is a great deal. The fact the Dodgers said no, if even to just trade Penny, means that Penny's health is highly questionable.
  17. The problem with the Suppan signing wasn't the 4 year deal to a pitcher, it's that it's a 4 year deal to a bad pitcher.
  18. Ohh and Ibanez costs a draft pick to sign. If Ibanez is a $10m player Cameron is a bargain.
  19. Not sure why being in New York made Pavano blow out his arm
  20. A deal built around Escobar would blow away anything the Cubs have been offering up.
  21. They have the Mariners giving up 4.5 wins this year but getting back 4 wins this year plus lower costs now and going forward.
  22. No, its Bud Selig more worried about making sure tax payers built every single team a new stadium instead of keeping cable rights in the hands of the league.
  23. Basically the deal works out even for next season and a big win going forward. Keep in mind Putz is owed $8.6m next season. Thats an expensive set up guy for the Mets.
  24. Given that Cameron is a better player than all but Dunn and won't be an anchor in 3 years, not there is no box and The Yankees are the ones who need to get a CFer.
  25. How does acquiring Cano make any sense? He isn't the worst player in the world but he's paid like a top flight player. He's owed $27m over the next three years
