  1. Nelson and Matt Stairs are having a contest to see who looks least like a major league ball player
  2. What is Sveum saving Durham for if not that?
  3. If it wasn't Hardy at 3B I'd squeeze
  4. Hart hasn't hit for 3 months and niether Cousnel or Kerndall can hit it out of teh infield-not a bad call
  5. Is Durham hurt again? Not bringing him for Weeks and then not DS him when Villanueva came in?
  6. Corey caught that but Werth should never have gotten a fastball AS to the grass, it dies easily in cold weather, Braun slipped once tonight on the ground rule double
  7. The grass stinks at Miller Park, its a real story
  8. Counsell instead of Durham? Again? Really?
  9. Who knew that all you needed to do to make the strike zone expand was send the pitching coach out for a lengthy meeting?
  10. He's vastly overpaid. He has a VORP of 3.6 this season. Paying a guy $12.5 m and hope he doesn't suck is not a playoff plan.
  11. Baseballreference has that in their pay section, you can find the lowest as Mike Tresh (min 3000 PAs) 1938-1949 with a ISO of .034 but then you have a big hole until position 134. From 1980 until now its Otis Nixon with a ISO of .044. From 1995 its Rey Sanchez at .060.
  12. Yep the Sheets signing was a good idea and the Jeff "Hammonds" Suppan signing was a horrible idea
  13. Yes, but his BABIP in AA was .375 and that is too high to believe it can be maintained. While you might expect Escobar to be above the normal .300, .375 is astronomically high. You move that down to a more believable .340 (still fairly high) and Escobar's numbers become .293/.327/.399.
  14. There were many games in September this year (Cubs 4 run blow up anyone? Having Shouse walk Howard to pitch to Burrell?) and too too many last year that these games wouldn't even make the top 50 of the Yost-Sveum era.
  15. This is what I started off the post with-Hart is being much more aggressive this year. And I don't know if it was coaching or himself but my guess a combination due to him having to"protect" Fielder, being a "RBI guy" so Fielder sees pitches.
  16. Rosenthal has also stated that Fielder would be traded. And pretty sure had Sheets traded by the deadline. And had Paul Coffey on the post season roster.
  17. If the Royals trade DeJesus its because they don't expect to compete over the remainder of his contract. In which case Hart doesn't do anything. DeJesus is on a cheap contract and is solid if unspectacular. Now should the Royals trade him? Probably but it has to be for players who can help them.
  18. The difference is is that the Brewers fell short of projections, the White Sox matched them.
  19. Escobar isn't ready to go. Right now he'd be Neifi Perez. And why do the Royals trade two players to get one player they can only control for two years? It would have to be a 3 team deal.
  20. Most likely they'll sign a contract but won't be making an arby offer to him. The big question is if its a major league deal or not.
  21. Yes you have minor league numbers, and in those minor league numbers you have an ISO of .079. Counsell's ISO is .089 this year. Kendall's is .078. In the major leagues. Brantley is young and has time, but he's not ready and doesn't look to be ready until 2010 at the earliest. Its hard to hit .300 with a good OBP with no power in the major leagues. Castillo has done it and Ichirio has done it. But more often than not you're looking at a Juan Pierre. And that fact that everybody hit at Hunstville this year makes me question a few things. As it is Hunstville this year had a park effect of .98 with a HR effect of 1.10 which is an increase from .96 and 1.03 last year
  22. TBS's producers did what FSN producers don't, shut up Anderson. Anderson's biggest problem is his constant talking. I still feel thats a FSN decision and that its a bad one.
  23. Is Durham that hurt? Gwynn hitting just shouldn't happen
