  1. Unless this is to dump Suppan, no thanks.
  2. If the Brewers don't feel like paying Hall $3 m to play somewhere else next year, he's the utility guy. Bringing back Counsell at his salary and paying Hall just doesn't work. If Counsell would resign at about $1m you might see him back.
  3. Actually, because of the unbalanced schedule, it likely would have been enough. No way the Indians who looked terrible in July could think that the Tigers would burn out along with the Sox and Twins not getting hot and putting the division away.
  4. Who are these pretty good healthy pitchers? Brad Penny? AJ Burnett? Jon Smoltz? Pedro Martinez? Andy Pettite? Randy Wolf? Tom Glavine? Mike Hampton? Brewers fans tend to be really myopic when it comes to pitcher injuries.
  5. 5th? Nope, I'd put him behind Villaneua, McClung, Parra, and DiFelice though you could argue about DiFelice.
  6. Wes Helms has now done more the Brewers than he ever did here

  8. The season on the line and you allow Hart and Kendall ABs with the bases loaded in the 7th inning. Pinella is trying to give you the game and you don't do the little things to help yourself

  10. How can you let Hart bat there? Nelson is sitting there, of they bring in a lefty go with Rivera. Its just foolish at this point not to.
  11. No it didn't start happening last year. All players have bad months, Hart had a bad July but even then his OBP was 60 points higher than his BA. He then went on to play August and September. In August he hit .313/.337/.542 and in September he hit .330/.381/.641. Again his approach changed, he's walking and striking out at a lower rate while hitting fewer fly balls.
  12. You might think that, but the numbers don't reflect it. Batting 1st: .284/.341/.547 Batting 5th: .319/.385/.605 He was basically the same hitter, just had a higher BA hitting 5th which doesn't say much to his approach.
  13. Edmonds is going to be 39 and is likely to miss at least 60 games. His defense is gone.
  14. No, Hart was not good in the first half either. A .325 OBP when hitting ,290 stinks no matter what and its still a regression from 2007.
  15. Sure some of his BABIP is sustainable, but not at a .375 level. A very good .340 means a 70 point loss in OPS before converting it to the major leagues. Lamb is bad defensively, but unless Branyan can go its likely the best alternative as long as Sveum realizes that Hall is a defensive upgrade and is treated in game as such.
  16. Or How much money has Hart cost himself this past few months? Why has Hart gotten so much worse than last year and even worse than his first real action in 2006. If you look at the numbers, it seems either he has taken it upon himself or has been told to be more aggressive at the plate. In 2007 his BB% 6.7%, now its 4.3%, it was never great but thats a distinct drop off. The reason I think its because he's trying to be aggressive is that his K% has also fallen off, from 19.6% to 17.5%, which means he isn't getting into many deep counts. And as expected by doing this his GB% has gone up while his FB% has decreased causing him to lose power. Thoughts?
  17. Escobar's equivalents are almost certainly too high since his AA line was due to a BABIP of .375. That's just unsustainable. Counsell and Escobar have about the same level of power. Put Lamb or Branyan at 3B.
  18. And he hit for no power. You already have Weeks and everybody hates him.
  19. Because he makes them money and they won't get anything good for him considering his contract anyway. He turns 35 in a month, wasn't good this year and is still owed $17m a year over the next 4! years.
  20. It's the fact that the Mariners treat Japanese players differently due to marketing concerns. See Kenji Johjima's contract extension. Ichiro isn't going anywhere.
  21. Wow, that is ballsy! You were calling that the least clutch player on the team would succeed in the highest pressure moment of the season arguably. Weeks is 4th on the team in WPA so he is pretty much the definition of clutch given his mediocre numbers.
  22. More often than not all players make outs therefore they all should always bunt! The worst thing a manger can do is "make something happen!" That's how you get men thrown out at home by 20 feet.
