  1. Russ--Not only are they not threatened by it, a former player (Aikmen) is on the forefront of it (ok his money is) Actually the reason for the resistance is because there has been resistance from many in baseball and fans get their knowledge from former players (see how many people repeat Rock's calls for "consistency" and "manufacturing runs"). Baseball is much more guild like than football. You'll have football coaches who have very little playing experience even at the college where a baseball manager without major league playing experience is almost unheard of. And so stats were seen as breaking down the guild.
  2. Given the numbers its obvious that Rivera should start at 1B Actually given that Prince will likely be hit 2 more times today....
  3. Lilly was the Cubs best pitcher last year and Hill has very good stuff. Now either may easily regress this year (I'd expect it from Lilly to some degree) but to pretend that the Cubs rotation 1-3 (Hill being the real "#3" instead of Dempster) is good. 4 and 5 on the other hand are very questionable.
  4. My brother works at Harley-which means anything with a Harley insignia on it may get a discount.
  5. A guy I went to school with has a sister who was an assistant to Gwyenth Paltrow, so that pretty much puts me 6 degrees to anyone famous.
  6. Riske was the only other guy warming up. If this wasn't April in Chicago it might make more sense to hurry and warm up another pitcher, but it is April in Chicago
  7. If Yost continues to replace Braun every day I'm going to scream
  8. 5-20=.250 BA not sure what people really expect.
  9. And just like Wuertz, thats the Solomon Torres I remember (albeit from 2-3 years ago)
  10. Suppan was back because his spot was up first in the 8th Seriously
  11. Am I the only one who thinks the Brewers have been really lucky today and that Suppan has been missing his targets almost the entire game?
  12. This is the Wuertz I remember seeing. Aside from the high fastball that Hall should have laid off of, neither Hall nor Hart really had a chance.
  13. If Fielder fields that cleanly it looks like Theriot was out.
  14. My sound isn't working. What did he say? Rock was talking about how well the Brewers were manufacturing runs today (!?!)and Skaalen comes back with "Yeah, Weeks did a good job of manufacturing with that first pitch there"
  15. Skaalen telling Rock to shut up about manufacturing runs-best bit ever!
  16. Soup's "fastball" is being clocked in the mid 80s for that inning.
  17. Thank you Lou for that hit and run
  18. It is not small ball to hit the crap out of the ball
  19. Same rule thought as throwing to an empty base I believe
  20. Braun doesn't come close to that ball
  21. I'm really hoping Kapler isn't betting 2nd. I really don't see the need to platoon Gwynn to begin with and I really don't see the need to take away more PAs from Hall, Hart and Hardy against lefties and give them to Kapler.
  22. Gange has yet to realize that Milwaukee media isn't Boston or LA or even Dallas.
  23. Kenny Lofton has loads more power than Gwynn. Gwynn at best will become Willy Taveras.
  24. And there it is. I always thought that some people thought they'd be better making the decisions than the Brewers front office, I'd just never seen anyone come so close to actually coming out and saying it. It's amazing that people are better than one of the best teams in baseball in terms of scouting and player development right here in our midst. Its amazing that some people can't see that sometimes that front office makes mistakes, that sometimes they just say things that aren't true.
  25. Olney was saying the Twins would miss Hunter more than Santana because Hunter is an everyday player. Pretty much tells you that he really is in the wrong line of work.
