  1. No its because he isn't that good. Micheal Young (Age 30) career stats: .301/.346/.448/.794 Bill Hall (Age 27) career stats: .266/.322/.472/.794 So Micheal Young is great but Bill Hall is overrated...
  2. Micheal Young belongs no where near a discussion of Jose Reyes and Derek Jeter.
  3. Arizona is one of the greatest hitters park in the league. This year its at 1.075 vs .949 for Miller. Last year it was at 1.149 versus 1.004 for Miller. Miller is the epitome of a neutral park.
  4. Obviously its that they have Jeff Cirillo in the bullpen.
  5. Eric Byrnes took a discount to get $10 million a year over 4 years. Byrnes over 4 vs Dye over two is a toss up. My problem with the Dye signing is that the White Sox really aren't able to compete over the next two years. But to pretend that there would some cheap solution out there that can give you an 800 OPS without a large injury risk is just not true. Sure they coudl bring in Milton Bradley at $6 million, but there is a reason for that.
  6. Bill thinks the Byrnes' contract is a great decision!
  7. I blame Bill Castro. Talk about a having the aura of losing on you!
  8. Yes it would be so much better if the Brewers didn't have Sheets then there would be no hope and all would be well!
  9. Of course Nixon was that cheap because he is likely to miss huge amounts of time. Delucci is a pure platoon player as well. Not sure where this cheap player is coming from Al. And yes if you pick the right 28 year old AAA player having a career year you can get Luke Scott. Of course you could also get Nelson Cruz.
  10. In general all players hit better with men on 1B. so anytime you have a 1st and 3rd situation you'd expect an uptick in hitting. Second BA is a bad measure because how it treats Sac flies.
  11. Hall isn't a guess hitter. His eye is decent. He's just a low average hitter. He'll hit .260-.270 and get on base at around .330-.340. Not great, but hardly shows he guesses.
  12. Since Gwynn likely can't do that, what's the point? And even at his current level of play Hall's contract is fine.
  13. No the offense is not league average. They've scored 588 to a league average 570. They are 10th in ERA, every team below them has a losing record. Offense is carrying the club.
  14. Walks aren't that big of a problem. Its the fact that anything hit on the infield leads to a single. Can anyone find out if the Brewers lead the elague in infield singles allowed? % of ground balls they allow for hits?
  15. For the next few years. This all comes back to the decision to move the one average defender in Hall to make room for two far below average defenders in Weeks and Braun.
  16. Gross is a fine defender. People just assume he isn't based off of one play.
  17. No it wasn't. Yost started him most of April and May.
  18. Right now Sheets is 32nd in VORP among pitchers even though he's missed time. It isn't potential when you're doing it
  19. Hardy showing that he deserves to bat 2nd again
  20. The point is they are out of replacement options for Spurling come September. In two weeks it wouldn't have mattered. In 6 days they could have optioned down Villy and by the rules brought him back right away without losing an option year. At this point they worsen their September team without doing much of anything to improve the bad ptiching right now.
  21. I would have understood staying with Villy to an extent if Prince wasn't already ejected meaning you had to make a position move anyway. And by not double switching you in essence allowed to position player to be burned since the pitcher's spot was up the next inning.
  22. 2007 Berkman as LHB : .256 .375 .469 Berkman as RHB: .279 .366 .413 2004-2006: Berkman as LHB: .320 .439 .625 Berkman as RHB: .277 .396 .425 Berkman's power side has always been from the left.
  23. Or do we have another case where a guy just stops being in Yost's relief rotation for some unknown reason? Shouse last pitched August 8th. And its not like there haven't been opportunites, say for example against the switch hitting Berkman to lead of an inning after your 1B was ejected and your current pitcher hasn't pitched well in over a month.
