  1. The idea that Redd isn't a max value player is laughable. Yes he isn't as good as Duncan. But so what? The NBA salary cap makes sure that great players don't get their value.
  2. The problem with this is that numbers for all players jump around. Corey Hart's numbers will show an even wider discrepency between hitting in front of Hardy and not hitting 1st.
  3. The Yankees are done. Trading Hughes would be one of the more foolish things they could do.
  4. Seattle is actually on a tear and is like 1.5 games out of the Wild Card. By July 31 that could of course change, but they won't be selling soon.
  5. Griffey will want his 2009 option picked up--thats $17 million. so it would also definitely cost Sheets and Capuano to get Griffey. And then he's likely to miss 70 games.
  6. No way do the Marlins get their full infield in. I also expect Smoltz ro not go and make that known, so replace Ramirez with Renteria.
  7. How would Vargas and Jenkins get someone better than Jenkins? Sure the Reds would love to dump Griffey, but the Brewers can't afford that.
  8. Vargas isn't a Wes Obermueller or a Victor Santos. He's a decent major league starter with inning issues. He's not something that will bring you the next great thing, but the Brewers gave up a decent pitching prospect to get him don't forget.
  9. Actually Lee played the ball really well (especially for Lee).
  10. Russ- Spurling was up because Bush's spot in the order was two away (Miller, Weeks, Bush). There was only one out, so that spot could have come up with 2 outs and bases loaded.
  11. I'm not saying Braun didn't have the better month, I'm saying Hart leads in those counting categories that determine the award.
  12. Hart is 5th in OPS behind Braun, Soriano, Utley, and Bonds. Given that baseball would rather fold up then give anything to Bonds, he's out. Braun has a 1.147 OPS but "only" 5 home runs, likely knocking him out. Utley only has 4 home runs, so he likely doesn't have a chance. So my guess its likely Hart vs Soriano: Hart: 340 BA, 9 HRs, 10 SBs 21 RBIs Soriano: .342 BA, 11 HRs, 2 SBs, 18 RBIs. Griffey had 10 HRs, but given the dismal state of the Reds and a BA of .309, he'll have a chore to make it.
  13. Not to go too off topic, but the idea that Vlad is a free swinger just really isn't true. Vlad doesn't walk at a Bond's rate, but he isn't an Estrada or a Soriano. His OBP for his career is about 60 points higher than his BA. Vlad is fairly selective, his hitting zone is just larger than anyone else's ever.
  14. Domed up, no. Artificial turf? Possibly.
  15. Hart is 12th in BA, 1st in SBs, 3rd in HRs, and 2nd in RBIs for the NL in June. He's also 3rd in OBP (1st is that washed up Bonds guy with a .535(!) OBP in June). I think we could see another Brewer player of the month.
  16. Bonds is in the Player's Association, he just opted out of the PA's collective liscensing agreement. Miller is barred from joining. I think he is the last scab in the big leagues (not really surprising)
  17. Great now I have images of Suppan playing beach volleyball in my head...
  18. Vargas will not walk. He's is under arby for another two seasons. It just makes little sense for the Brewers to pay him $3-5 million to be the Brewer's 7th or 8th best pitcher so he'll likely be traded.
  19. Its usually the league thats historically be slow to move on scheduling hearings. Now all this information is available on computer it shouldn't take more than a week to have a hearing.
  20. I cheer him because he jilted the Brewers. Don't tell Geno but: Hart: .318/.396/.530 $395K Lee: .291/.340/.510 $14 million
  21. Umm, you haven't been paying attention to how Yost manages have you? Take Corey Hart and his inability to get on the field last year.
  22. Vargas is what he is. He's 29. The chances that he'll suddenly become more than a pretty good 5th starter is close to nil.
  23. The Yankees have almast no shot at the Sox and little real shot at the Indians. They are below .500 and 3rd in the AL East.
  24. hoosten b|_|llpin is teh SUXXORS!!!11!!!!!!
  25. Which is why blocked guys are the ones usually offered up. Its why Gwynn, who has no real chance for a starting role on the Brewers until like 2011 comes up. Basically anyone in AAA right now save Parra would be traded away in an instant.
