  1. Or you can compare him to the deals signed by Oswalt and Buerhle and say, boy did they overpay for Suppan.
  2. Why is it so hard for people to understand that Gallardo has about 80 innings left to pitch this season. It doesn't matter the level, it doesn't matter if it happens all before September, he's got 80 until he's done. Those 80 might as well be at the major league level.
  3. Roberts pretty much put up his career numbers last year. 2006: .286/.347/.410 So no, I don't think using his career numbers is that bad of a projection.
  4. So Al an average reliever with major league success and on a minimum contract has no value?
  5. His 2005 was different. His BABIP was .343 that year so it was high, but mainly his ISP was .201 where his career has been .124. This year its at .122. He's also showing way more patience this year that before. Not saying Roberts is a bad idea, I just don't know the cost in acquiring a guy with three years left is worth it. when Loretta is out there with similar numbers at a lower cost.
  6. The point is Roberts only has an OPS above 800 due to his BABIP being so high. If he were to hit his career numbers going forward, they are: .281/.352/.409 Graffanino's career numbers: .268/.336/.381 Roberts is obviously a better player but he isn't that much better. Clearly not worth giving up a pre-arby starting pitcher for.
  7. If LaPorta doesn't spend most of next season in AA or above it will be a disappointment. He's going to 23 next January which means 24 in 2009 and he should be in Milwaukee by then for at least part of the season. Which means he should be pushed to AA as soon as possible.
  8. Not sure Roberts is that much of an upgrade. Sure he is having a nice season, but thats due to his BA being .322 versus a career average of .284. That 40 point difference is all due to a BABIP of .357 versus a career of .317. His power right now is right at his career average. So I'm not sure his BA is maintainable.
  9. And Jones isn't signed past this year. And he has been good defensively since 2003. His fielding runs above average for the past 4 seasons are:-1, -5, -3, 1. Jones is currently hitting :.202/.303/.404. He's 3 years older than Hall and likely will want $12 million a year.
  10. I think the Brewers would have a shot if not for the fact that both the Dodgers and the Padres will be looking for help. Eithier is putting up a .282/.348/.435 line for the Dodgers. The Padres have the following: Giles: .279/.371/.353 Sledge: .224/.321/.392 Cruz: .247/.325/.385 You can see why the Padres jumped to get Bradley even though he seems injured. Through in Ibanez in Seattle and Willits for the Angels and Griffey could have a choice of where to play.
  11. No, but it helps! Haven't seen the movie, but did catch part of the making off on HBO and saw Bay waste more money doing things in live action than in CGI. Bus ripped apart by CGI robot? Bus was real.
  12. Shrek isn't Disney though its now being shoveled out in a Disney manner. Disney did now kill off its DTV sequel factory (finally). Funny thing is that as feature length traditional animation has died in the US, TV animation is the best its ever been. From Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon you have stuff that rivals Golden Age WB animation. And its far, far better than the schlock that HB pumped out from the 1960s until the early 1990s. Of course none of the animation is actually animated in the US anymore.
  13. I'm not sure that they lost faith in Gross. RFK is one of the few stadiums that Gwynn's supposed defense is useful. If Gwynn continues to start after the break then there maybe issues.
  14. No room for him really. If Mench is dropped sure, but otherwise he doesn't have a spot. You need two middle infielders given Weeks injury and Hardy missing games constantly. Aquino would likely get it done.
  15. Hall will make 1/2 to 1/3 of Jones, is younger and has been good recently. Why would the Brewers do that?
  16. Suppan has a no trade clause for his first two years when he's cheap.
  17. Yes the past two season Suppan was better after the All Star Break. Of course in 2003 and 2004 he was worse after the break.
  18. Until Sheets is signed to an extensions you can't trade Capuano or Bush. And none of those pitchers listed will be available for a trade for what is being offered.
  19. If by medium difficulty you mean impossible, sure.
  20. I wish that some day that Jeff "Hammonds" Suppan pitches a decent major league game again.
  21. Right, but he has an option for 2009 that most likely will need to be picked up for him to waive his no trade clause. It this was Seattle maybe he'd just waive it, but this is Milwaukee.
  22. It probablistic, meaning it compares the amount of plays a person makes versus what the average player makes i that position given the innings played. It jumps around alot so one down year might not mean anything, but a pttern does.
  23. As soon as Griffey gets injured the Brewers are toast. And he has a no trade clause. It means that you'll not only pay him this year and his $12.5 million for next year but likely $18 million for 2009. Say goodbye to Sheets.
  24. In 2001 Hunter had 22 fielding runs above average. Since then: 2002 -12 2003 -1 2004 -3 2005 1 2006 1 2007 -2 His glove just isn't that good anymore.
  25. Time to make that Aquino for Dye trade! The Sox need the arm right now!
