  1. It was about 1/2 new and 1/2 old material. I loves the walrusman bit.
  2. Depends on the warranty. Did you pay with a credit card? Lots of credit card companies give you additional protection and may be able to get you a replacement right away.
  3. My high horse? You're the one who comes in and declares who fields of science not science by your definition. Then you say that if a model can't take into account all variables its worthless or if it doesn't predict things with certainty it has no purpose.
  4. Well if you think the outcome of a single game is random welcome to sabermetrics.
  5. Lincecum doesn't seem to have any control over his off speed stuff. His fastball still is very good and undercontrol.
  6. The biggest problem you have is acknowledging the law of large numbers has a pull over much of the universe. Yes all those things matter, but in general they are noise and as such are not useful in predicting the future. Its like taking in account my mass when determining how hard gravity pulls me down. Sure technically I'm pulling the earth towards me but in practice it can be safely ignored.
  7. Capunao is tradeable, just absolutely no reason to do it in season. If the Brewers have any hope of resigning Sheets though, Capuano has to be moved at some point.
  8. Until he gets injured and misses a season and half.
  9. He either leaves the rotation soon or he leaves it in July. Again, he only has so many innings to pitch.
  10. Except that there was variety of factors saying Yo should have been pulled. 1)His spot in the order was up. No reason to have him hit when you can't really expect to get a full inning out of him anyway (10 pitches seldom gets through an inning). 2)After he did walk, he had to wait through a Hart walk and a pitching change, making a nice 20 minute wait without being able to keep his arm warm. 3) He was at 93 pitches.
  11. The point is that it isn't that big of a salary dump and it doesn't help the Giants long term. Mench would be a possibility, but more than likely the Giants want to take back next to no salary.
  12. The biggest problem with piggy-backing starters is entirely artificial but its there. And thats the win stat. Piggy backing starters kills chances at Ws which means less money in arbitration. So Vargas would be rather upset at piggy backing and given how arbitrators rule, you can't lame him for not wanting to lose out on $1 million. For example, I thought Colorado should have tried something like that before the humidifier. I also thought they should look for decent hitting pitchers so they could carry less bench position players. My ideas are just as likely to work as what they have done so far.
  13. If San Fran is trading Bonds, they want salary relief, Jenkins won't be part of it. That said, Bonds isn't going to Milwaukee. Oakland is another matter.
  14. Ennder, be serious. Yost can't DH in Milwaukee!
  15. Not really, he just has to win his next three starts! This is one time that Sheets might have a chance since LaRussa will have a big part in choosing the pitching staff. That said, not sure the Brewers want him there.
  16. Renteria has a chance to be Atlanta's lone representative assuming LoDuca gets the vote and Martin is chosen knocking off McCann, then Jones and Smoltz both hint to not be chosen. The short stop most deserving and likely passed over is Ramirez.
  17. Well Yo might be making his debut today if this keeps up.
  18. Because Estrada is a contact hitter!
  19. Yes mets.forumup.us/about62585-0.html
  20. Hey its amazing that two of those happened in the same week at home plate against the Brewers. First Gwynn now Hall.
  21. Yes Al San Diego has a terrible offense. Here is the team batting line: .244/.316/.389/.705 That can only be considered significantly better than Washington and the White Sox.
  22. More home runs?! Why can't the Brewers play small ball?
  23. Murton is a very good bat. The fact that Cubs spent money on three aging outfielders while having Murton and Pie go back and forth to Iowa explains al ot.
  24. Castillo isn't better than Counsell/Graffanino. He gives you speed to some extent (though he isn't the player he was, he's on pace for less than 20 steals this year) but his defense has been bad since he went to Minnesota.
