  1. Not sure how forcing a guy not hitting in AAA to face major league pitching would have shown anything.
  2. Kintzler is just not right. I don't know if he was rushed back or what but he hasn't been near what he was previously for the Brewers.
  3. No other team has a guy with a 12.51 ERA in their bullpen. The only player who has been as bad as Wang is Paulino and the White Sox sent him down in April and he's now on a DL stint in AAA. Pelfrey for the Twin was bad as well but was coming off injury and now he's on the DL again . Wandy Rodriquez wasn't quite as bad and he got DFA's by the Pirates and underwent season ending knee surgery. Ever other player in the neighborhood of Wang was injured and not currently on their teams.
  4. He just hurt the team yesterday when they had to have Braun play CF and Reynolds in RF. The issue isn't that Wang is bad, its that he's so bad that he won't be used leading to having to have another man in the bullpen and a short bench. The Brewers are playing with a 24 man roster.
  5. De La Rosa should be available for his contract. Don't know why anyone who isn't desperate would want him. Morneau is difficult to judge mostly because his injury risk is still there and he hasn't hit like this since 2010. So it might be difficult for Colorado and other teams to come to agreement about his value.
  6. Napoli is an impact hitter (.274/.388/.447) and he's a decent 1B. He's on pace to be worth about 4 wins this year. The Sox are not going to dump him for salary reasons especially given the dearth of 1B out there. And they aren't going to dump Napoli for Mike Carp given that they signed Napoli even after Carp's big year. They know that Carp projects as a bench/platoon guy.
  7. Why is Weeks still in the game? I've been flipping between this and the World Cup. Why did Roenicke not remove Weeks when he brought in Gennett?
  8. Yep. Its based upon predicted records given run differential going forward by simulating the rest of the season. The other thing is that the 3rd and 4th place NL Central teams are decent as are the Cubs by run differential. So the Brewers have a slightly lower chance of winning the division while the NL West is a two team race. The fangraphs page: http://www.fangraphs.com/coolstandings.aspx?type=1&lg=div
  9. UZR has Weeks at -2.6 runs, Gennett at 1.5 but that is far above where he was last year. And keep in mind we aren't talking 162 games, we are talking 60 or so.
  10. Over a full season the difference in defense is likely 5-7 runs. Weeks has 7.9 runs created vs LHers so far compared to -0.4 for Gennett. So yes its worth it.
  11. Exactly. He's exceedingly mediocre, but all you hear is how absolutely terrible he is. His ERA is just over 3. His FIP is 4 1/2. He's certainly not good, but he's not 'terrible' either. He's below replacement level and has a K/BB rate of 1.63. That is terrible for a short inning reliever.
  12. Kinztler has been terrible, I don't understand why he is in Milwaukee right now
  13. Good thing Roenicke let Estrada hit at 88 pitches. Those two extra outs in the 6th were really worth it.
  14. Why? Brantley would almost certainly be in RF for the Brewers. And its questionable if he would be more than a #4 OFer until now. He hasn't had a great bat until this season and its hard to believe his power will stay going forward.
  15. Chances Roenicke realizes Estrada has thrown 88 pitches in 5 innings and should not come out for the 6th?
  16. His defense is not OK. He can't play CF and you can trip over a better bat for a corner position.
  17. Did you mean some other stat becasue from what I remember wOBA is usually a decimal type number with 3 digits. I meant wRC+. Wasn't thinking clearly. Anyway, they are both pretty far below average.
  18. Schafer had a wOBA of 65 in 2013. In 2014 it was 54. Bianchi had a wOBA of 53 in 2013. In 2014 it was -19. There really isn't much to hope for there.
  19. Chavez is a huge upgrade over Overbay. Chavez can actually hit.
  20. Send Kintzler back down or to the DL. He's been horrific, hard to think he's healthy.
  21. Why is Yo still pitching? What do you expect to get out of him?
  22. Still don't get the Segura leading off thing, but whatever...
  23. Yes. Strand rate is mostly luck, and any rate that high is unsustainable.
  24. Yep. Pretty ridiculous idea IMO. Except for the fact that Nelson has been absolutely dominant, not only in the minor leagues, but he's given up 7 hits and 1 ER in about 16 innings in the big leagues. Nelson looks like he'd be a clear upgrade over Estrada. If you can improve your rotation by adding in a pitcher who can throw in the mid 90's with a plus slider and is a big GB pitcher and is 25 vs a older pitcher who throws 88 and is giving up HR's at a ridiculous rate, why wouldn't you? I think the answer is Nelson's service time. Once there isn't any question that he'll get another year of arbitration, I think he gets his shot. Except that isn't true. Estrada still projects better than Nelson. Nelson has struggled in Milwaukee with his control and he has has a history of needing half a season to get his control worked out every time he goes up a level. The fact that he has a 93% strand rate is luck not talent.
