  1. It wasn't September that I have problems with, its August when JDLR came up. And why should he come up to show off for the trade? Isn't that the thing that Taylor was ridiculed for doing, pushing players up to prove he was doing something? Again thoug, there was talk of JDLR being up by All Star Break coming out of Spring Training. His injury was the only thing that put a damper on that. He has been treated different from everyone else for no real explainable reason except to smoothe Doug's ego.
  2. Well see JDLR is special. You know how players have to prove themselves to get promoted under Doug Melvin? It doesn't apply JDLR. After all, the guy had a 5+ ERA at AAA and there was constant talk of him coming to Milwaukee throughout the year. Hendrickson dominates AAA and get shuttled back and forth to work on "things".
  3. Hoffy missed the other great thing abut losing. The Brewers can say they need to keep payroll down to pay draft bonuses as they go towards the top of the draft.
  4. I'm sorry, but Tony Gwynn get paid very well to give color commentary on what, 50 games a year? He can do some actual research for games he is provding color on. It not just Tony's fault of course, there seems to be this belief that Yost is doing his bet to teach his young team how to play the game. But if it takes 20 secs to see that the young Brewers consist of Sheets, Bennett, and Hall, and that the Brewers are a bunch a stopgaps why can't people being paid to do that actually do that?
  5. See Tony, young hitters maybe crappy because they are young. However, the Brewers hitters are crappy because they are crappy.
  6. How many times must we hear "young Milwaukee hitters"? How hard is it to just look at a lineup to see there are no young hitters there?
  7. People keep saying that Bonds only gets his BA when pitchers "pitch" to him. That is incredibly bunk. Bonds has one of the best strike zone judgemnets ever seen, so even if you are "pitching" to him you can still walk him. Unless you think pitching to him means fastballs down the middle of the plate, in which case you are clearly wrong to think he'll get out 60% of the time. King Kaufman in Salon just ran numbers taking away 75 of Bonds IBB so he'd have close to what Thome has, and treated those 75 ABS like all of Bonds other ABs. Bonds then ends up with "only" a .542 OBP.
  8. JT Snow has been crushing the ball this year.
  9. The Brewers have better hitters than the Giants at the following positions: 1B That is all.,
  10. Am I the only one who was present during Clark's August?
  11. Obemueller has only value as poor imitation of Brooks. He can be a decent 25th man on an NL team, pitching mop up and a RH bench bat. That is about all.
  12. I avoided maintenance costs and depreciation to keep things simple. And I disagree about the Brewers needing a roof. Say the Brewers draw 2 million brining in about $40 million in stadium revenue. Now a third of that or so needs to go into revenue sharing. Lets go with 25 percent to keep it easy. What this means, is that to recoup just the cost for the roof, the Brewers need to add $10 million in total revenue. So the roof has to account for 25% of all stadium revenue. I'm sorry, but there is no way that is the case. If stadiums had to be funded as a business, movable roofs just wouldn't happen because they are a waste of money.
  13. So lets see.... At least $150 million for a moveable roof. Given that a stadium may have 20 year life now thats $7.5 million per year. For what? Maybe 10 games are now played that wouldn't have been before. So you really think they lose 750K per game versus a day-night doubleheadder? The only way a moveable roof makes sense is if you can sucker some one else, you know taxpayers, to pick it up.
  14. Pretty sure they are salaried. Keeps the overtime down when you get those extra inning games.
  15. If only the Pittsburgh paid $200 million more they could have kept a September game against the Brewers from being cancelled! Why didn't they make the investment?
  16. Another example of giving a promotion to those who proved they deserved it....
  17. Before we start another myth, Obemueller was as sucky last year as he was this year. He is not a major league pitcher.
  18. Magruder should be playing. He should be the 4th OFer next year. No reason to keep playing Clark however.
  19. If its just this game no problem. But if I see the phrase "the integrity of the playoff chase" mentioned as a reason for Kyrnzel not playng, I think I will scream.
  20. I'm sure Sheets facing the Cubs every other start means is really helping him. And Clark has an August OPS of 719. He isn't doing anything lately.
  21. The Brewers: Baseball's Only Sixth Place Team, Again!
  22. I believe that Magruder should take over the starts in right at this point. He should be the Brewers 4th outfielder next year and they might as well see if what he has been doing continues with regular playing time.
  23. We can thank Dusty for going with Remlinger instead of someone who could pitch well.
  24. Don't Worry! Jeff Bennett is on!
  25. Anyone not see that coming?
