    Betancourt hit for 6 weeks and then stopped. He ended up with a .646 OPS in August with a .256 OBP and .685 in September with a .278 OBP and his usual terrible defense.

    You know why? Because the manager has complete control. Greinke wasn't thinking "hey, I know, I won't get this guy out!" Roenicke did think Kotsay was a good idea.

    Macha actually replaced those players. How long was Loe left in ht e8th inning to face LHers? McGehee and Betancourt were never replaced.

    I still don't get the idea to move Hart to 1B for Gamel when Gamel hasn't really shown any ability to play RF. Hart isn't good but he's about average and still better in RF than Braun is in LF.

    Tulo is getting $16m in 2014 $20m per for 2015-2019. My guess is Reyes wants 5-6 years at 18-20m per and likely will get $18m per year. With the Mets and likely the Philies involved I just don't see him coming cheap.

    Yes. The two best teams this season didn't even make it to the LDS, the Yankees and Philies. The team with bar far the best pitching got bounced in the first round.

    Yep thw Brewers have pretty much rocked the Cards starters as well, TLR is just willing to take them out before the qualify for the all magical win.

    Loe is fine in certain circumstances, ie never facing a left handed hitter with any type of power.

    doesn't the ball fly pretty good with the roof closed? It's not coors or anything, but definitely a hitter's park. I could be wrong on that though. RR's stated he hasn't noticed a difference with the roof and panels open/closed. Attansio showed the broadcast team work showing that it launches with everything open, neutral or so everything closed and dead with just the panels open. That RR doesn't know that is left as an exercise for the reader

    No, it isn't measured that way. Stealing is entirely separate. Its all his bad moments on the bases, of course part of that is the manager's style.

    You can't compare Gomez's numbers this year to Kotsay's since Gomez faced mostly RH relievers biasing everything against him. Kotsay put up a wOBA of .300 this season and Gomez matched that with a wOBA of .307 vs RHers last season. There is very little difference in their offense, neither is very good.

    Since Kotsay isn't a better offensive player than Gomez there isn't anything to really discuss.
