  1. The Marlins make money hand over fist. They are the team other owners hate.
  2. Fiers is about to turn 27 next season. He's Estrada with no major league success. The guy who was free twice in the past 3 seasons. Now someone might think he can be late inning guy but he isn't a large piece of a major deal. Gindl is 23 next year, Schafer 25.
  3. Fiers has almost no value. Schafer is a C prospect. This would be more like Peralta/Gindl/One of the first round pitchers from last year and maybe the Jays would listen. Escobar is one of the best SS in the league.
  4. Apple's IP lawyers are vicious (again ironic since they are only still around do to people stealing music) http://www.techdirt.com/a...-small-german-cafe.shtml
  5. And the Cardinals if Pujols leaves.
  6. The Brewers have nowhere enough to pry Escobar from Toronto.
  7. A #4 starter makes as many starts as a #1 starter.
  8. Apple gave the Blackberry a touchscreen. Let's not get carried away here about how revolutionary the 1st iPhone was.
  9. Well milb has dropped the season splits to give us winterball and AFL splits. Yeah.
  10. Schafer isn't that good of a prospect.
  11. No he was terrible last season and his defense is spiraling downward given his constant injuries. Speaking of which Youkilis is coming off a down season and heading for surgery. No thanks.
  12. Basically the only sticking points would be HGH testing and a tobacco ban. Everything else is getting all or nearly all owners to agree to it (wild card expansion, slotting draft picks, world wide draft, more revenue sharing). For years the bigger issues have been owner vs owner in baseball.
  13. His salary last season was $11.5m
  14. Morgan on the Pirates wasn't a problem, he was traded because the Pirates had few assets worth squat and he was on the wrong side of 28. He had problems with the Nats but it was arguing with Werth that got him traded.
  15. Yes if we ignore all the other hits and doubles Fielder has we can make him look small.
  16. For free agents what they made in salary last year has a lower bearing on arby awards.
  17. Its not only the Mets, the Phillies have a hole and money to spend.
  18. He would have had to refused arby at that point.
  19. On what exactly? If you had three years remaining, sure. But he's off the books in 2013. The Brewers really shouldn't have salary issues next year with the money for Fielder, Yuni and Hawkins already coming off. And its not like $9m on a one year deal will really add much to teh Brewers who really don't have that many holes to fill (given 1B is a big hole but not one where $9m in 2012 will make a difference).
  20. Schafer hasn't had an ISP above .100 except for his time in the PCL. That's Counsell like. And not sure why you think 33 is old.
  21. No he's most likely a down grade defensively, and offensively. And power matters everywhere.
  22. And then when the Cards lose Pujols?
  23. In what universe is a 4 win player a stop gap? And I don't buy Schader's power at AAA from last season.
  24. Morgan was Dykstra, Hairston was Komatsu.
  25. If he goes to arbitration, he'll get a 1 year deal likely around $12m and the Brewers could still trade him.
