  1. Or its Boras being Boras and doing what he does.
  2. Super two has no effect on the free agency date, just when arbitration starts.
  3. Yes if Greinke and/or Marcum can't be extended you likely have to trade Hart. And then the dominoes start to fall. Morgan gets moved and likely Gomez. You think seriously about trading the 30 year old Weeks. And suddenly you're seriously rebuilding.
  4. The taxes won't be an issue. The fact one city is Miami and the other is Milwaukee would be a bigger issue.
  5. Yep, right before that it was said Miami was offering like a 3year/$60m deal which would seem highly unlikely to tempt Reyes.
  6. Since Kemp was in line to make maybe $15m next year I don't see Fielder getting much less.
  7. Yes, yes Yuni is able to be a terrible player every day
  8. The Walmart Black Friday (or really dark gray Thursday, they are opening at 10 pm Thanksgiving day) is out. The video game deals are insane. Yukuza 4 for $10, Dance Central 2 for $15, Batman Arkham City for $28, Battlefield 3 for $28, Forza 4 for $28, Madden 12 for $28, FIFA for $28, Gears of War 3 for $28. 9. The point is he isn't going to free up $10m unless you go with like a Morgan/Murton platoon which weakens CF and RF. All other options don't save any real money. Pardo is going to be paid like the decent 3B he is instead of a poor corner OFer. Cuddyear could easily end up getting more money than Hart given the terrible FA market. Trading Wolf is easier since there are a few in house options but it would decrease the Brewers pitching depth a ton. The Brewers have 8 starting options (Greinke, Gallardo, Marcum, Wolf, Narveson, Estrada, Fiers, and Peralta) and likely all 8 will start at some point. Its likely one of those 8 will miss significant time next year.
  10. But that won't save any money. Cuddyear is going to get at least $8m per and cost a draft pick. Say you get Hart for Prado with a third team involved sending prospects to the Braves. Prado will cost around $6m next season.
  11. Trading Hart to sign Reyes is treading water. You sign Reyes, you go for it and that means keeping intact you All Star level outfield.
  12. Of course the reason the Cardinals are world champions are due to players like Craig and Jay who are incredibly similar to Gamel.
  13. Before his big injury he was a plus defender. Now that he's both older and has suffered some injuries he was ranked about average last year so it could just be him getting back into playing or he could have gotten worse.
  14. Reyes is likely the best position player on the market because he'll sign below his true value, something neither Fielder nor Pujols likely will. Fielder's contract will have almost no way for him to outperform it and Pujols will likely out perform it for the first few seasons but then he'll fall off a bit and under perform at the end. Reyes was a 6 win player last year in 126 games, and a fully healthy Reyes is a 6 win player meaning even if he plays 130 games a year he brings great value but he'll like sign for less than $20m or for less than a 4 win player. So there is excess value to which team ends up signing him assuming the bidding doesn't get too crazy. Doesn't mean he fits great for the Brewers but it means that he's unlikely to provoke a winner's curse.
  15. Hard to say. Morrison's first full year was bad. Part of that was just him adjusting and BABIP related but it looks like he's being played out of position. Morrison has a higher ceiling but will he reach it?
  16. Pena was distinctly average last year for a 1B. A WAR of 2.6 in 606 PAs isn't anything to be that happy about. He's a guy you might sign for 1 year at $5m since while BA isn't important to production a declining BA is one of the signs that a player is losing his ability to hit. Right now it looks like Pena is a pure garbage hitter.
  17. That is pretty much how it is for every single relief pitcher
  18. 2 overrated players traded for one another, its the perfect match.
  19. Keep in m ind that you really can't compare WAR prior to this year since Barmes was mostly used at 2B over those periods and so he's actually being hampered by that since his bat plays much better at short.
  20. After all the Brewers never, ever have had success with reclamation projects under Melvin....
  21. They aren't equal. Barmes was a 3 win player last year, Barlett 1.8, Wilson 0 in part time play and Yuni was 0.5.
  22. No it is probably Rizzotti and Mayberry that they hate. I believe the Phillies are going to have Brown play RF and if they signed Cuddyer they would just have Cuddyer in LF to replace Ibanez. Either way Brown is going to be in LF or RF to start next season. If the Phillies do sign Cuddyer that could open up some trade possibilities. They still have Pence.
  23. Now who can I point to show I'm an amateur when people accuse me of spending too much time thinking about the Brewers? Thanks for everything you've done.
  24. Because the Phillies hate Brown? About the only reason I can see.
  25. Fangraphs on Jurrjens: http://www.fangraphs.com/...nt-worth-a-top-prospect/ Basically Jurrjens is either injured which is bad or his fastball is naturally declining which is bad.
