  1. So the Reds know the hit and run is on and you still try it? Its such a stupid play.
  2. The play was right at Gamel and the ball ate him up. McGehee would have made it. The point is Gamel is completely uncomfortable at 3B
  3. If I was an opposing team I would seriously consider constantly bunting to the 3B side with Gamel and Yuni there until Gamel is forced to come way in
  4. Gamel has also hinted as heavily as one in his position can that Green can play 3B and he can't
  5. Am I the only one who doesn't want Braun pinch hitting if he can play a full game? I just don't want him to try pinch hitting once tweak something or find out its still too sore and either lose time to backdate his DL or spend another few days shorthanded.
  6. Because it just maybe that being a baseball player isn't that good of training to be a manager. In the NFL is not uncommon for head coaches to not have even played significant college football much less in the NFL. In baseball its almost a requierment that a manager spent at least some time in the majors.
  7. Technically neither Gamel or Kotsay should be playing. Why must this team pound square pegs into round holes?
  8. Hernandez's career line vs the Brewers: .296 .410 .449 So yeah he tends to own the Brewers
  9. How dare the Reds have an actually capable hitter as a reserve OFer!
  10. He's saving him for spot that might not come and a situation where he'd have to face a lefty reliever.
  11. Not only that, MLB isn't the NFL where the six weeks a player could miss means he's jeopardizing a starting position on the team. For about 99% of players, starting in mid July versus mid August of their first year is near meaningless. They still have years before they reach the major leagues anyway.
  12. He's 1-1 with a 2b and a bb thoughWell maybe he can stay in and play 3B
  13. Narveson at 96 pitches and up 3rd, this should be it for him.
  14. Theriot of course is a bad defensive 2B playing SS
  15. No that isn't what defensive stats do at all. They track where a ball goes and then based on that compare how many of those balls in that area are converted into outs by the league and then look at the conversion rate for a given player.
  16. Most important series of the year? A sweep of the Reds coudl bury them and more importantly remove a potential SS suitor from the bidding.
  17. Send Gamel down and bring up a real OFer already. Or DFA Kotsay but I'll first say the thing that has a chance of happening.
  18. Or they could option him down and he wouldn't get an arby hearing.
  19. And when those triples turn back into doubles and his BABIP comes down from 400 he'll be the same crappy hitter he has always been.
  20. Well of course his terrible 09 is leagues better than what we can expect this year
  21. Good thing Roenicke goes out of his way to avoid giving McGehee pressure PAs.....
  22. Uh no. Yost lost his job due entirely his strategy. He was fired for having Shouse walk Howard to face Burrell. It was the 1st game of a DHer and if Attanasio was in Philly for that series its questionable if Yost would have been around for game 2.
