  1. Yuni's buyout has already been paid for by KC.
  2. All of last year? Otherwise, I would say if Axford starts to struggle, or if Axford has pitched three days in a row. I also think there are situations where putting in a LOOGY to close is putting out your best pitcher. It always depends on the situation. Saying there is only one best pitcher all the time and leaving it at that, in my opinion, doesn't give the team the best chance of winning. Not really. Rodriguez 2010: 2.63 FIP 3.16 xFIPAxford 2010: 2.13 FIP 2.79 xFIPSaito 2010 2.43 FIP 2.69xFIP The Brewers have two pitchers who were better than Rodriguez last year and a healthy Saito might still be better this year. I think people don't fully realize just how good Saito is.
  3. Axford actually has a high walk rate. WHIP just isn't that good because all pitchers will give up around 1 hit an inning on average. So what you really should look at is walk rate and K rate.
  4. Given that teams, on average, score more than zero runs per game I don't think that's true in the slightest. I think it's very difficult to not give up runs. The amount of runs you can score is unbounded, the amount you can save is bounded by zero. Hence scoring must be easier than saving runs.
  5. Think more along the lines of Farris, maybe Gindl. It will be someone not on the 40 man.
  6. I don't get this, you don't like the trade because there is another position that's equally/more pressing? How does this trade preclude the addition of a SS? Because it likely eats up all the salary room the Brewers have to work with.
  7. Its only if he finishes those games. He won't. But he has a buyout on his option of $3.5m so this is closer to $8-9m in salary minus what ever the Met sent.
  8. Davis has about 930 PAs in the majors, so about 2 years worth. His career line is .249/.306/.460. And that's with being shielded from left handed pitchers. For a 1B that isn't good. His BB% and K% look like a guy who doesn't have a good grasp of the strike zone.
  9. Except he has been. Furcal's UZR/150 on the year is -6.2. now it could just be the sample size or that along with his bat could point to lingering effects of his injury. OK that isn't Betancourt bad but its likely slightly worse than what Wilson would provide.
  10. The weird thing about that is that one of the Orioles top prospects in a SS. Now Machado's only 19 but he handled low A. And so while he likely won't be ready in 2012 many think he'll be ready sometime in 2013 or the beginning of 2014 and they gave him a huge bonus to sign.
  11. 50 games of a healthy Furcal and 25 games of Betnacourt is better than 75 games of Betancourt. The bigger issue is if Furcal is really healthy. He's been terrible so far this year.
  12. Kotsay's numbers fell off a cliff 6 years ago.
  13. Jon McGlocklin takes a vacation during the Bucks season every year. Yeah but he's older and watching the Bucks does require a sanity break
  14. Melvin should tell Yuni that he can either allow himself to be optioned down with the promise to be up by September at the latest or he'll be DFA'd
  15. And they wanted multiple innings and Scarpetta has been starting.
  16. Sean Berry might be the only real competition. Maybe Marques Grissom in his Operation Shutdown year of 2000.
  17. It is very difficult to throw the ball home well when your momentum is taking towards the fence. If he is playing regular depth and can come up on it would have been much better.Yeah but it was still Kottaras running. He sets himself and its an out.
  18. Counsell for Gomez? Why? One can beat out an infield ball.
  19. Hehe... spending 30 million on 3 years of Wolf (possibly 40 million over 4) is better than spending 30 million on 6 years of Chapman is it? its only that much if Chapman does squat in the majors. As soon as he becomes arby eligible he gets a bonus and goes into arbitration
  20. Fielder over the last 7 days has a line of .350/.440/.550, I think he's excelled.
  21. Roenicke is crazy. Gamel can't play 3B. Just because he's a guy you had with you at spring training doesn't mean he's the best option. Not sure why Gamel's Almonte impersonation in Milwaukee is so reassuring.
