Extreme example, but how about this: what if a guy had 100 AB each month April-July and got zero hits. Batted .000. He's still somehow in the lineup, though, and in August has another 100 AB and gets a hit every single time. Would you want to bench him for the playoff push in September even though he's only hitting .200?
