  1. Well, I watched the first couple of batters in the bottom of the first at home. Then I drove to the hardware store, talked to the guys there, bought something, and came back home. The inning ended as I shut off the car in my garage.
  2. monkeyman, your chart was more than readable to begin with, but I formatted it for you. Thanks for the information.

  4. Counsell says that Braun has a left knee strain and that they think they "dodged a bullet." Ryan's day to day.
  5. Just as BA noted that the Brewers have never been shut out in both ends of a doubleheader, Pérez homered.
  6. At least Ryan could walk. That doesn't mean that he'll be able to walk a couple of hours from now, though.
  7. Unless there's something I'm missing, I'd guess that it be at about the anniversary of his callup, which would be just before June of next season.
  8. His antics hurt both on the field (30ish UNforced outs) and off (arby contract in a couple years will be higher). Provided that the case is properly presented, if I'm an arbitrator looking at SB/CS, I'd look at the numbers, see that he's about 8[space][/space]SB above the "break even" point, and yawn. Of course, it's tough to yawn while watching the games. You're either happy that he made it or unhappy that he didn't. Just to clarify, you'd want to go beyond SB/CS and include pickoffs and successes/failures when trying to get another base out of a hit. I'm not in the position to provide that data, but an agent and the team rep would have it.

  10. My recollection is that the Braves have owned most of their farm clubs for like forever, but I can't find any evidence to prove it.
  11. It looks like the story has been corrected. It now says "assigned" to Colorado Springs rather than "optioned."
  12. Yeah, the song is inappropriate in and of itself. Once at Miller Park, they played [cite]Blister in the Sun[/cite] from start to finish. I'd assume that whoever played it never paid attention to the lyrics. Of course, the intro to the song is immensely popular in parks across the country, and that's fine.
  13. Some of them still do. I think the Braves own most of their farm clubs.
  14. The Cubs fired the DJ: Cubs Fire DJ for Playing ‘Smack My B—h Up’ During Exit of Closer Suspended for Domestic Incident
  15. Rose Marie "officially has the longest active career in entertainment — from 3 to 93." Happy Birthday to Star of Stage & Screen - Rose Marie!
  16. I just don't fuss with the details. After a prospects-for-veteran trade, someone mentioned that the Brewers traded draft picks. My gut wanted me to say that draft picks can't be traded. But in the broader sense, the prospects were draft picks at one point, so it worked. jerichoholicninja, I'd suggest talking about the baby. Everyone has an interest in him.
  17. Smack My Bit.ch Up The word that's quoted normally is filtered, and Fan Forum Etiquette doesn't allow circumvention of the cuss filter to get filtered words to display. But in this case, I edited the period into the post above so the song title would be clear.
  18. There was a time when most bullpen coaches were former catchers. The Brewers were ahead of the curve when they started putting former pitchers in that position. It's pretty clear what Johnson and Tunnell do during games, but it'd be a tough call to speculate on how each of them divide the workload outside of game action. Obviously, it'd be safe to assume that Johnson runs the show. But part of that would hopefully be using Lee's input and talents to everyone's best advantage. At this point, there've been both success and failures on the pitching staff, but I don't think we have the evidence to be able to pinpoint any credit or blame. So for now, I'm willing to spread that credit/blame among the pitching/bullpen coaches, Counsell, Stearns, and the pitchers themselves.
  19. The final year that Yost was here, our gurus said that he was at about -6 games, and they qualified that amount by saying that it was an exceptionally high number. As Logan said, there's a lot of similarity in how different people manage. In game situations, they tend to choose from among a handful of reasonable choices — or at least from options that don't surprise anyone. Nedly ventured into the bizarre on a fairly regular basis. I think that Craig's in-game decisions have been pretty reasonable overall. Like others, I'd like to see Keon start more. But I'd guess that he and Stearns are likely pretty much on the same page as far as player usage.

  21. Yeah, just to be clear, the Red Wings are in New York. Teams can re-up with current affiliates at any time. But new affiliations will happen during September. It's too early right now.
