Trader Joe's isn't close to Waukesha. The two Milwaukee area locations are at Bay Shore and in Brookfield (2 blocks out of Wauwatosa). And it isn't a one-stop shopping destination. There are major items that they don't carry. But the stores are small, which is nice. They tend to be crowded, but checkout lines are managed very well. I love the fact that the checkers empty the cart for you. Besides the convenience, that eliminates the possibility of someone ahead of you taking forever to empty the cart. Yesterday at Pick 'n Save, I was behind a woman who didn't empty her cart at all, even though the belt was completely clear, until the cashier was ready for her. I was bummed when the Sentry near my dad's house closed a few years ago. I preferred it to the Pick 'n Save across the street for the same reasons that Patrick mentioned. After that, I started driving a mile to get to Sendik's, which is a nicer all-around store. It's more crowded than a Sentry, but like Trader Joe's, the checkout lines are managed well. Unlike Trader Joe's, it carries just about everything that a Sentry would.
