  1. It turns out that the Brewers won, 10-5. Here's the Haudricourt blog entry for today's game. I'm sure that the lack of in-game coverage had to do with the opponent. The game isn't even listed in today's scores at USA Today.
  2. There was no thread posted on the day of the game, but for the sake of posterity, here's the box score for the Brewers' win against the Angels.
  3. Buckhunts, please reread the quote guidelines. Thanks.
  4. The Convert URLs feature has been hit and miss the past few days--mostly miss. Breaking entirely was a "side effect" of an attempt to fix a bug. This is allegedly fixed pending a push that should (hopefully) be occurring soon.
  5. Forget Edmonds, they would have to clear a roster spot for Duffy and/or Nixon regardless in the event Gwynn can't go. The point of the thread is understanding the transaction rules rather than the example used to illustrate the question. I don't see a rule in the CBA or on Cot's that says you can't put a guy on the DL in spring training. It gets done. Because of the 15-day rule, players can be placed on the disabled list and miss a lesser number of days at the beginning of the championship season. Players have been placed on the DL retroactively in spring training, too. For that purpose, if I understand the rule correctly, major league spring training games count the same as championship season games. A year or two ago, didn't the Brewers have a guy playing in minor league spring training games simply because of the possible need to DL him retroactively?
  6. Victor "The Vampire" De Los Santos Victor Santos ("The Vampire") Valerio de los Santos
  7. We try to help the environment but clearly the nazi technology companies do not want us to succeed. Isn't there a button that says, "Skip Bagging"?
  8. You might want to look through the links in this Google search. I quickly scanned through them without finding anything super-dependable--otherwise I would have posted something better. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif It does look like at least one receiver (HR20-700 0x1EA) will substitute an internet connection for a landline. However, it wasn't clear to me if this would work wirelessly or if it needed to be connected with an Ethernet cable.
  9. Maybe doing the switching triggered the system into working properly. By the way, when you switch avatars, it's best to keep the old avatar around in your storage so you aren't displaying "broken image" icons next to your older posts. Obviously, you've kept your old avatar.
  10. That's a good question. I see it in your profile and on your administrative control page. I can assure you that nothing was done intentionally. And I've checked for stuff that might have hidden it unintentionally (your administrative page and the site skin); nothing seems amiss in those spots. Could you try starting a thread in this forum? I'm curious to see if your avatar will display on a different board. Whether it displays over there or not, I think we may have to get Yuku staff to take a look at this.
  11. As football discussion belongs on LambeauLeap, please feel free to start a topic or post to an existing one over there. I'll make sure you have posting access.
  12. Brewerfan has historically tried to resist setting up too many forums. There comes a point where numerous forums become unmanageable; I'm talking from a member standpoint rather than a moderator standpoint. I know that won't necessarily please everyone. One former member was especially put out when Brian refused to set up an Anti-Statistical Analysis forum. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif One thing we're not concerned about is bringing traffic to the Trading Post. It's designed as a perk for members--that's the main reason it's hidden from non-members. In this case, bigger isn't necessarily better.
  13. One more note in case anyone runs into this: Even while logged out, you will see the Trading Post forum in the "Brewerfan.net Forum Jump" dropdown at the very top of the board pages (next to the Lambeauleap.net Forum Jump). However, if you try to access it via that dropdown while logged out, you'll get a "Sorry this forum was not found" page. Conversely, unless you're logged in, you will not see the Trading Post in the Forum Jump that's next to the New Topic and Add Reply buttons (and the page numbers when they exist). You also won't see the Trading Post in the Forum Jump at the bottom of the page unless you're logged in.

  15. Don't let her sneak up on you when you're trying to use your new urinal.
  16. A Yuku staff member has confirmed that the failure to load the WYSIWYG editor by Google Chrome and Safari 3/4 has been recorded as a bug and marked as "major." Hopefully, the "major" part of this means that there'll be some kind of action taken so we don't have to use the sloppy spoofing workaround on any kind of long-term basis.
  17. ...based on revenue, payroll as % of revenue, attendance (and likelihood of drop), regional economic problems, and recent earnings. Where did you get the figures for these areas, and how much did you weigh each?
  18. Thanks for the updates, bbaehman. The general recap format you're using (as suggested in the rules) is much more readable than "one play per post." If you're getting this directly from another web site, could you provide a link? That covers our butts as far as citing sources, and it directs others to that site if they'd like to go there. If you're grabbing the recaps on your own from the broadcast, please disregard the request. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. GH, you didn't "muck up" anything. The edit shows because I added the tags. I probably could have mentioned the fact that I did it, but because edits on IGT leads have always been pretty routine, I didn't bother. Speaking of tags, "brewerwin" or "brewerloss" can't be added until the game is over anyway, so there's going to be a lead edit at one point or another regardless. zzz, one of the mods received a PM in favor of the new rules, so I guess it's "to each his/her own." I think the key might be to provide some context to a post unless the context is already provided by other messages. On the mod end, we're still working our way through the new setup ourselves. Things will become clearer as time progresses.
  20. This is just a reminder to make sure to familiarize yourself with the new in-game thread rules. The previous two threads contain about a dozen hidden posts.
  21. I'm frankly disappointed this thread has gone to two pages. The fact that Cecil was given such a prominent chunk of a one-hour show made it likely that there'd be something of interest to talk about. The other area of relevance was that when the topic was posted, there would have been several opportunities to watch reruns of the show.
  22. If you go with a netbook, you can also probably afford to have a decent desktop system to use when you can. All notebooks suck ergonomically. As much as I love my MacBook Pro, it's nice to get back to my 22" monitor, full keyboard (at a nice typing level), and mouse. Of course, you can always use a notebook with a full-sized monitor, regular keyboard, and your favorite mouse when you're at home and have room for these things. If you choose a netbook, you might want to make sure that it's possible to easily do that. Another thing to consider is a netbook for moving around and an iMac for your home base. An iMac is super-easy to transport in its original box. It'd be no sweat to keep at school and take home for vacations, for instance. Transferring a few files wirelessly is a snap, so you won't run into issues when you switch machines. (If you're going to transfer large quantities of files, definitely plug in an Ethernet cable and go that route.)
  23. Better yet, you can grab your current Firefox user agent string from the "About Firefox" window. I think it's in the Help menu in Windows. Here's the one for Firefox 3.0.6 for OS X... it ought to be just as good as the Windows one: Here's what would be pasted into your Google Chrome Windows shortcut: Another option for getting your user agent string would be to go to "What's my User Agent?" When I load up that page with Safari's normal settings, it correctly reports that I'm using Safari 3.2.1. A simple user agent switch via the Develop menu makes that site happily tell me that I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.12.
  24. Just to note a technicality, this member wasn't actually banned. Banned profiles can't access the board, even to read. In this case, access privileges had been moved to read-only, meaning that one can still see the board and take advantage of its features while logged in.
