  1. Here's how you edit a quote in the WYSIWYG post editor. Start by placing your cursor where the red arrow is in the picture below. Drag upward. The key is to place the cursor outside the quote box that you're trying to eliminate. What's confusing is that your selection would look the same as it would have had you selected only the text inside the box. http://images.yuku.com/image/png/4b81545a41534b0a5f14a2ae5531b1c52276864.png You'll probably see a little extra white space at the top. Delete it. http://images.yuku.com/image/png/c7a1555b42554e08fb6c6b08bdce49ec9954a74.png Next, you'll want to edit to get the part of the quote you need. This time around, you'll want to place your cursor at the spot inside the quote box where you wish to start deleting. http://images.yuku.com/image/png/a2c15b544457480a62e8d3c6ff68ad2ad79b990.png Here's what it should look like when it's good to go. http://images.yuku.com/image/png/327259458a4235764da0252e332c5c8e6a0920d.png

  5. Two things: 1. Once again, please be aware of the board's quote guidelines. It's not like it was in the Sabathia transaction thread, but there've still been a few that have required mod cleanup (and some that should have been cleaned up, but bypassed). 2. If someone uses a cuss that gets filtered, please don't quote it. It makes us cranky. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  6. McGwire was traded at the deadline, well after the All Star game. McGwire transaction history
  7. I have Yahoo! Mail Plus, so I think I'll create a disposable address for voting. That way, I can filter any e-mails to that address into the trash and dump the address after Thursday. EDIT: I added a direct link to the 2008 All Star Game Final Vote Online Form to the lead post for those who don't feel like waiting for the brewers.com home page to load.
  8. Hey, everyone, I'm still finding the need to edit quotes that are nested or too long. If you haven't read them, once again, here are the quote guidelines. For future reference, they're on the top of most board pages. Note too, that not every problematic quote has necessarily been edited. On the other hand, there are a couple of "fixed code" notations. Mods don't mind giving a helping hand with the post editor causes goofiness. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. It's looking good in the browser whose cache I cleared, too. According to information at the Bugs forum, this issue was fixed around noon.
  10. The solution--if you have it available--would be to use another browser that happens to have Yuku stuff in its cache.
  11. No, it doesn't look like a rip-off. Numbers are different. However, I'd bet that when designing their system, coolstandings.com would have been aware of any public information about Baseball Prospectus' procedure. Baseball Prospectus explains what they do on each of their playoff odds pages: Playoff Odds Report Playoff Odds Report (ELO adjusted) Playoff Odds Report (PECOTA adjusted) The good news would be that at a glance, I don't see remarkable dissimilarities between the results reported on the two sites.

  13. A technician has been paged to address these issues. Menus hanging open: Scripts aren't loading, causing the menus and navigation bar to hang open. This happens after one has cleared his/her cache. Don't clear it! Also, don't do a hard refresh. Open menu bug report Avatars and posticons not loading: This doesn't seem to be happening here (yet http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif), but I see it on the support board, so I thought I'd mention it. Important: If your avatar isn't loading, don't go into your profile and delete it. Let the issue run its course. Avatar and posticon bug report
  14. I fixed your link. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I first looked at this last night because I was curious about the validity of ESPN's playoff odds. According to its FAQ, it's looked like these people have done their homework. One of our competent statheads could probably scrutinize it better than I can, of course. The only thing I noticed last night was there was a discrepancy between the odds listed on ESPN vs. coolstandings.com. They're the same this morning. I'd assume that ESPN simply updates the odds on their site later.

  16. I don't recall seeing anything in the thread that would have warranted a strike or official warning under Brewerfan's rules and moderating procedures. But there was oodles of stuff in there that the mods generally try to handle outside the discipline system. Ideally, for stuff like that, mods will do one or more of the following: editing posts, leaving a notation on the post itself, sending a friendly PM, or posting an in-thread message. Given the quantity of posts, in-thread reminders of a general nature were really the only viable alternative. There were several of those today from various mods, and people didn't seem to be seeing them. Locking down the thread for an hour assured that people who visited during that time saw at least one of those messages. The intent certainly wasn't to scare people from posting. However, when considering "what the site stands for," quality certainly beats quantity.
  17. Actually, both board and Supporter fees go to Yuku. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif It really depends on how you want to spend your money. Direct donations, of course, help foot the bill for those who don't donate, and that, of course, is important. Yuku Supporter covers your costs here and at other Yuku Gold boards, ensures an ad-free experience when viewing profiles or non-Gold boards, and offers a few perks. I have nine signatures to flip through if I want to use them, for instance. One thing I didn't note is that members do get some Yuku Supporter time simply for donating. The amount you get isn't going to be enough to carry you through the year, though, unless you donate a fairly substantial amount. Examples: a $1 donation gets you five days, $6 gets you a month; $30 gets you six months; $54 gets you twelve months; $275 gets you 67 months, 7 days. In-between amounts are pro-rated; larger donations get more Supporter per dollar donated. I purchased a year of Supporter when it first came out, figuring it'd help reduce LambeauLeap costs right away, would help Brewerfan eventually, and give me the extra toys. I've had time tacked on for donating at LambeauLeap and at Toby's board.
  18. Brewerfan is going to need to raise some funds later this summer. We currently have Gold (ad-free service) through September 11. Our last renewal was in February, 2007, for $933. Technically, that paid for six months. However, Brewerfan was given an extra six months for committing to an early Yuku migration, which happened on August 1, 2007. Additionally, Yuku didn't charge anything for any board until February, 2008. At that time, $59 left over in Brewerfan's ezBoard Community Chest was applied, buying twelve more days. The board has also gotten three days of credit for Yuku downtime. We've gotten a lot of mileage out of that six month renewal. Currently, Brewerfan is carried over on ezBoard's pricing system. In the winter of 2007, we would have been quoted the $933 renewal price based on past usage, then charged a flat rate for the six months (that really turned into nineteen months). In September, we'll be converted to Yuku's large board pricing system. That system will have us purchasing ad-free page views in advance, kind of like a prepaid phone card. If board usage remains similar or increases gradually, I think we'll probably need between 7.5 and 8 million ad-free page views to get us through a year. That's a rough guesstimate, though. A big usage spike could change that. However, Brewerfan's ad-free page views have been pretty consistent since the start of the season. My guess is that in comparison to ezBoard's flat rate, and based on the above estimated page views, Brewerfan should be paying no more than $3.50 to $4.15 per day. That compares to the $5 per day that we were technically charged by ezBoard for the 2007 six month renewal. (All the free months were a one-time thing, of course.) With all this talk about ad-free page views, I should define the term. Yuku serves ads only to thread pages. Those would be the views we're paying for. We're not charged for members viewing the main board page, thread lists in the forums, the Community Profile, Community Calendar, using search pages, writing posts, using the preview function, etc. It should also be noted that the ads members do see on the boards come from Brewerfan. We're talking about avoiding ads served by Yuku. LambeauLeap is also on Yuku's large board pricing system. Toby's board (not affiliated with Brewerfan/LambeauLeap) is on Yuku's small board pricing system: it's charged a flat rate of six dollars a month. The nice thing about LambeauLeap's situation is that during the past few months, while the board's been pretty quiet, it's been quite a bit cheaper than it would have been under the small board system. That board has cost $14 to run since January 29th, and current funds will probably hold it at least through the beginning of training camp. (There are 16,800 ad-free page views left. It's been so cheap that mods have covered the $14.) Of course, I think Peavey and those involved would be happy to see that board kick back into action and cost some money. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif One thing that will help Brewerfan starting in September and will help LambeauLeap right now would be if members purchased Yuku Supporter. Boards aren't charged for Yuku Supporters' page views. You have to remember to be logged in, of course, for Yuku to know not to charge us. In addition to boards not being charged for Yuku Supporter page views, members receive some benefits outlined in the link a couple sentences above.
  19. It's up to the seller to decide whether or not s/he wants to send items to an alternate address.
  20. Definitely try to do the reprint. As a gesture of good will, you might want to offer the guy a little bit of money back to accommodate his inconvenience. If he's changed plans and can't use the tickets, you can try offering them to the second highest bidder.
  21. Hey, gang, please take a look at the board quote guidelines. Thanks. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. I'd try perusing this link: Webroot spysweeper won't sweep Then I'd start with the easier suggestions, such as this one: Another simple suggestion is to run Norton Anti-Virus' Live Update if you happen to be using that program. If reasonable suggestions at the above link don't work, I guess I'd try digging through the customer support stuff at Webroot.
  23. This sounds like something that's coming from either your virus protection application or an anti-spyware application. Does the little window with the error message tell you which program is causing the issue? If so, try going to that program and running an update. Given the message, the update mechanism might be located in that particular program's Options panel. If I were unable to spot which program was causing the problem, I think I'd go into both the spyware and anti-virus stuff and run manual updates. Even if there's no reported problem, it's still a good thing to do once in a while as part of your general maintenance routine.
  24. The problem, of course, with using Yount's situation as a comparison is that there was no free agency and no arbitration at the time. The Brewers could simply decide that he was the best available option, that he could develop at the Major League level, and leave it at that.
