  1. Before transferring your old files back to your newly formatted drive, make doubly sure that they're not infected with anything.
  2. I live in an area where pizza delivery is non-existent, but when I have the chance to have it delivered, I guess I tip close to what I'd tip a server in the restaurant. I do try to have my payment pre-counted, so we don't have to fiddle with change. It'd be interesting to see what would happen to restaurant food prices if tips were eliminated and servers were paid the $18 or so per hour that they take home with tips. I wouldn't bet against Patrick425 being correct that it wouldn't make much of a difference. I believe the contents of tip jars are split among whoever is on a particular shift.
  3. My guess is that Coins of America probably came forward with the promotion offer, and that unless the Brewers were offered something like Jack Daniels samples in airline bottles (alcohol plus superb projectile potential), they'd be inclined to accept the offer. lcbj68c, nested quotes aren't expressly prohibited; they're to be handled with care. Ya done fine.
  4. The Illinois State Quarter Collection promotion ought to pad the season finale's attendence.
  5. To achieve that goal, first you have to secure a playoff berth so that's your focus until that is attained. Once attained your focus becomes winning the first playoff series... The "goal," of course, is to win the World Series. Robin Yount made that clear numerous times. I like the use of the term, "focus," though. That can be different than the "goal," depending on circumstances, and it probably would have been the preferable term for the thread title. I think bork makes an interesting point. With six of the final twelve games being against the Cubs, focusing on not losing out on the Wild Card slot and focusing on winning the division could turn out to be one in the same.
  6. I'm fine with Counsell spelling J.J. once a week or so. I don't want to see that shoulder injury flaring up. With Branyan out, a start or two per week at 3B might be justifiable, but not really desirable.
  7. Trenni's group was on camera during the game, and she interviewed a couple of them. I didn't pay a whole lot of attention, and I certainly didn't notice their garb, but I can definitely say her group wasn't in the bleachers.
  8. In a recent TV interview, Rick Schlesinger said it looked as if the Brewers would sell out the entire month of August; they seem to be on track to do that. I'm surprised there are still tickets for Wednesday. When we purchased tickets about three weeks ago, we opted out of Wednesday in favor of Tuesday because the only non-single Wednesday seats available were in the higher reaches of the Terrace.
  9. Messages discussing Haudricourt's recent blog comments have been moved to a new thread: Haudricourt condescension toward blog participants
  10. This all really deserves it's own topic. Agreed. You got it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. Some players have been inducted with a plain "generic" cap. I think that would be the most appropriate alternative for Sheffield.
  12. I hope that we're able to provide you with stuff that you find interesting to read. That's really the key, and it's one of the reasons for asking for the comprehensive applications. The flames, vents, and one-liners are simply not interesting. Members and guests shouldn't have to weed through that kind of stuff to get to the good posts.
  13. I don't know that the mods brag; it's kind of sad that applicants don't follow a simple set of directions. And it's also sad that current members' ability to do the same is the reason Brewerfan has become so tough on applicants. At any rate, I don't think there's anything else that can be added to this thread that's worth saying.
  14. Players must be on a team's 25-man roster as of August 31 to be eligible for post-season play. The only exception is that a player on the 60-day disabled list may be replaced by another player from the team's 40-man roster (as of August 31) who plays the same position. I agree with RyDogg66. The Wikipedia quote seems to jump from the obvious to the least obvious while missing the in-between. I think the proper language is something like "Players must be on a team's 25-man roster or disabled list..."
  15. In a span of 33 hours and 33 minutes, 71 messages were posted to this thread. 26 of them (37%) were posted by one member. Methinks this discussion has run its course.
  16. MJLiverock, what details do you have about FSN-WI eventually becoming full-time?
  17. Trenni isn't filling the Ann Carroll role. She's filling the role handled by Craig Coshun and Bob Brainerd over the past few years. Craig Coshun and Jeff Grayson (with occasional substitutes) would be the Ann Carroll replacements.
  18. The Indians' sellout streak ran for 455 games.
  19. Are you buying HD only, or will you be getting a regular package of channels, too? Generally, with all cable and satellite, you're entitled to the SD version of your local sports channel with that service's version of "extended basic."
  20. Other teams' games will be blacked out. You'll probably get their pre- and post-game shows, though. I'd assume that the standard feed for Brewers games will continue to show up. There'd be no good reason to block it.
  21. The problem with RISP is that it totally ignores any 'clutchness' involved in getting on base with the bases empty. I think that when JohnStumpyPepys ties the perception of lack of clutch hitting to OBP, he's on the right track. I have to qualify my statement by using the word, "perception," though. There's so much statistical noise that has to be weeded out that I wouldn't even know where to start in determining whether clutch hitting is an issue or not.
  22. If something like this happened in a public place or private home and the police were called, I'd guess that a disorderly conduct ticket might result. However, even outside the ballpark, I'd guess that the huge majority of the time, the police wouldn't be called, and the situation would be handled by whoever was present just like this one.
  23. There's a problem with using LOB as a measure of ineffective clutch hitting. The issue is that good hitting teams will likely have high LOB totals. If a team has a big inning, it still eventually has to end, and chances are that it'll end with runners on base.
  24. "That is an up surd comment." crosses the condescension line.
  25. casey = my late dog 1992 = the year he was born Around the web, I'm casey1992 more often than not. That combo was taken on ezBoard. In places where it's available, I'll simply be casey. T B0NE 10 Note, everyone, that if you're ever doing a member search for this guy, it's a zero in "B0NE." s stands for Sam brylski stands for Brylski sbrylski06 is too hard for me to spell. Therefore, I prefer to address him simply as "Sam."
