  1. The the text question during today's TV broadcast confirms what's been said in this thread. The cards are cheat sheets prepared by Ed Sedar.
  2. Additional references: How irrevocable waivers work Speaker Series: Brian O'Halloran (waiver rules, etc.)
  3. The way this offense is going right now, do you really have any confidence in them to score more than one run in that situation? Bases loaded, only one out, reliever struggling... Yeah, I think it would have been better to play for multiple runs. It would have been fair to hope that Kendall could have singled, walked, or lifted a sac fly.
  4. I don't think the squeeze call was egregious, but I'd have much rather tried to preserve the out and gone for more than one run. So I guess I do blame Ned a little, but this isn't something I'd use as part of a laundry list of significant complaints. As far as the play itself, I'd say that the breakdown came between Sveum and Kendall, and that I'd absolve Hall completely.
  5. I'm always afraid an Amish buggy will pop up out of nowhere at night. Of course, they involve both people and a horse. It's gotten better since they started using battery operated taillights. Before that, automobile drivers had to rely on a kerosene lantern inside the buggy and a reflective slow moving vehicle emblem to see them.
  6. I've heard, but can't confirm, that the team uses a private web site for this stuff.
  7. From large samples, it would be fair to glean that the Braun-Fielder thing really doesn't matter. With Prince being the only lefty starter, there really isn't a lot restricting Ned in making that choice. If it's a tie, there's no big reason not to go with player preference. Having said that, I do prefer Prince at cleanup, but it's not because I think these guys will hit better under the current arrangement. Rather, since the the cleanup hitter leads off more innings than anyone other than the leadoff hitter, I think Prince's superior ability to take a walk will come in handy.
  8. You mean road destruction.
  9. It doesn't cost more money to have more forums. Brewerfan is currently on a flat rate left over from ezBoard. After September 9th, it'll be charged under the Yuku large board pricing system: by the page view on thread pages only, with Yuku Supporter views not counting against that total. I tossed a fantasy tag onto the current thread. If people think it would help, we could provide a fantasy posticon in Off Topic to make these threads stand out.
  10. I'm concerned about the desk. Do you need any repair tips?
  11. Maybe we'd reopen the winter-long monstrosity. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif DougJones43 brings up a good question, though. What's the correct timing? The end of the season would have worked had it not been for the two votes of confidence. Given all that, I think Memorial Day is the soonest Ned could be fired without making ownership look like a rudderless ship.
  12. NDOGG44, TooLive is very good about being objective. If he sees an argument that doesn't hold water, he'll refute it, even if it temporarily makes him appear to be on the opposite side of the larger issue at hand. That's the way to go about it. I think Yost should go, too, but it has to be for the right reasons. Except maybe for current timing, I do think the right reasons exist, but I also think that some of the reasons people offer for firing him are poor.
  13. It depends on how you want to factor in the technicalities. The Brewers have had: Dave Bristol (previously managed Reds, but hired by Pilots in the offseason before the team came to Milwaukee) Rene Lachemann (previously managed Mariners) George Bamberger / 2nd tenure (previously managed Brewers and Mets) Jim Lefebvre / interim manager (previously managed Mariners and Cubs) The radio guy was probably referring to Lachemann, but I think it would have been remiss not to at least include Bamberger.
  14. I pretty much agree, Fear the Chorizo. We're coming up on the time of year (mid-May) where I usually think there's enough of a sample to do some lineup tinkering, but with so many players not hitting, where the heck would you go with it? Until some guys start to hit, the status quo would seem to be as good as any of the alternatives.
  15. I don't put a lot of stock in the hitting coach, but I think that Bill Hall in particular misses Wynegar.
  16. Forgive me if I question you objectivity when you throw around stupid numbers like that. Honestly, I don't agree with the numbers, either. But calling them "stupid" crosses the condescension line.
  17. Gopher74, I cut back the length of the quoted material in reply #52.
  18. The "Brian Roberts to the Brewers?" thread started here has been merged into the existing thread in the Transactions forum. Today's discussion starts here.
  19. You must have found the "Use My Settings" checkbox. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I show 40 threads per forum page and 30 posts per thread page. I'd go higher if I didn't have dial-up at home. If I remember correctly, Team Canada, Mass Haas, and brettac1 like very large numbers. The variable settings are the reason why you shouldn't post a board URL with a page number in it (like the one at the top of this page). Hit the URL button at the upper left of any post and use that instead. Also, you shouldn't say "such and such post on page X." Give the reply number instead. Or link to the reply. By the way, you can also set your own time zone if you need to. You're not bound to using Brewerfan's.
  20. I'm not sure what to suggest as fair compensation, but I think you should get something out of the deal.
  21. I'm still on page 1. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. Hey, everyone, I've done several edits in this thread: we don't need to keep quoting the picture.
  23. a low information Brewer fan Please avoid unnecessary condescension.
  24. I'm sorry bub... Please don't start a message that way. It's condescending.
