  1. You DO realize it's not the magical 6th inning yet, right? I reserve the right to fully assess his performance until he leaves the mound. I could say something, but it would put me into the position of having to moderate another Yost thread. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  2. TooLive, in your area, the Mariners will be the only team blacked out by Extra Innings. You're probably getting them already, anyway. Take a look at this map and this thread for additional information. You might also want to peruse what's under the radiotv tag on this board and the cablesatellite tag in Off Topic.
  3. What do D* and E* mean?
  4. I grade the professionally trained people on a different curve than those that aren't professionally trained. I want the professionally trained to be devoid of bad habits. As an example, Schroeder interjects "I mean" frequently. Since he isn't professionally trained, I'll cut him slack on that. I wouldn't cut the same slack when grading a Powell, Sutton, or Anderson. I think Ann Carroll is the only professionally trained person we've had recently that hasn't been good to excellent with the "professional stuff." On the other hand, I want everyone to be able to be interesting. Brainerd would be the guy who was severely lacking that way. Schroeder is spotty. Coshun is generally OK, Nelson is good, and Kusnierek is excellent. Also, I want everyone doing their homework. Schroeder drops the ball frequently, and Carroll was horrible. Powell, Vasgersian, Sutton, and Kusnierek demonstrate excellent preparation.
  5. The onmilwaukee.com article prompted some discussion here about the new radio contract. I've moved those messages over to the radio contract thread. Seems to be a better fit. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. Way back when many or most radios didn't have FM, it was important to put broadcasts on AM. That's not the case anymore. As a matter of fact, FM signal strength and sound quality give it an advantage over most AM stations.
  7. Care to expand?bullox, I think "genuine analysis," along with the blue text, says it all. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  8. I haven't heard anything, but until there's a roster move, this is as good a thread as any for your question. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. So Logan, even 3 YEARS worth of a sample isn't big enough? In many cases, that's longer than most dudes' entire careers! It's the number of occurrences within the sample rather than the time span of the sample. In this case, the largest sample we're seeing is 104 ABs. In a situation like this, the best choice is to examine other information. Yes, many careers are short. But we are likely to be looking at extreme stats, too. You don't need as large a sample to be able tell that an ERA of 10.00 sucks. Either that or there's information that can used to supplement the stat du jour, such as a scouting or coach's report saying that a guy's velocity or control just aren't cutting it.
  10. After two comments from moderators, it would have seemed logical to drop the Hardy thing. We get the point. Let's move on.
  11. I get the impression that Ennder was talking about a starting pitcher's sixth inning.
  12. According to onmilwaukee.com, Jeff's "first game will be on or around April 18."
  13. I'm sure we've seen complaints both ways. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I do know that before the 2007 season, Ned said he'd be having his team bunt less than in the past. I don't know offhand if things actually worked out that way, though.
  14. Yuku's servers will be down for maintenance on Monday, April 14th and Tuesday, April 15th around midnight CDT. Downtime could last up to three hours each night. According to a Yuku staff member, it shouldn't be considered a surprise if this started a bit earlier than the announced time. Scheduled Maintenance 4/14 and 4/15
  15. Locked. There's too much bickering about everything Nedly. That completely obscures discussion about Braun and Fielder. I've split that discussion into a new thread. Feel free to transfer any Braun-Fielder commentary to this thread: What are you more worried about: Prince with no homers or Braun with no walks? Respectful Yost discussion can go into the designated Yost thread.
  16. Trenni stands on her own as being good; the female part is irrelevant to me. The main thing is that she's a hugely positive addition with interesting stuff to offer. I like Davey, but as Trenni pointed out, last year he was stuck in a host role quite a bit when his strength is actually as an analyst. I think when brewerfan.netters have complained about Davey, a lot of these complaints would have been based on evaluating him in a host role or when he had to work with Ann Carroll.
  17. Have you watched any games? Don't go that route. It's condescending and adds nothing to make your point.
  18. Daron left for more money than the Brewers were willing to pay him.
  19. Geno sounds like Yost. Geez, end. You've been around here long enough to know how to address the message rather than attack the messenger. There's a way to make your point without including what amounts to an insult. Everyone who hangs around here a lot knows that Geno doesn't top the list of the Yost Supporters Brigade. Had you started a paragraph with something like, "It surprises me that you said that," and written an additional sentence or two explaining why, you would have made the same point without the condescension.
  20. Moved to Non-Brewer In-Game Thread, reply #19
  21. ...if no men are on base Turnbow is flat out dominant... I think it might even to be appropriate to narrow that statement down a bit and say, "if no men on base were put there by Turnbow." But still, I'd be on the safe side and have him start innings whenever possible.
  22. We've been there and done that. One of the Prince threads even got locked. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  23. I think what Kapler is doing is plenty to justify keeping him around over Gwynn. And really, since Tony has an option, you're keeping them both anyway.
  24. Russ, those baseballs would cost $500 apiece. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  25. Rickie's initial contract ended after the 2007 season. This year, he was re-signed at a pay cut: $1.057 million vs. $1.32 million last year. I would guess that if the Brewers had the desire to re-sign him long term, the situation wouldn't be a lot different than that of some of the other players with approximately the same amount of service time.
