  1. I believe Yuku views social as 'communities' rather than dating. Unfortunately, the word seems to red-flag blockers. Another biggie red flag is the use of the word 'profile'. That word was suggested as a possible reason for the 'women seeking women' ads in the profiles of members of a cross-stitch forum.
  2. T BONE 10, On the Yuku end, it's a constant work in progress. Things have improved tremendously and often over the past few months. On Brewerfan's end, it's definitely a work in progress. There'll be tweaks to the skin and functionality as we get into this over the next few days.
  3. Just keep trying, strawboss. If it doesn't work in one browser, try another. We haven't quite grasped the pattern of when, why, or how it breaks. (Sorry, Kristen, I know it'd be nice if you could see something more specific. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smile.gif) EDIT: Wow, RoCo; somebody else is complaining about fonts being too big. Methinks you might be in IE 6? It can't handle the code modern browsers do. If you're in there, try adjusting your default browser font size.
  4. davego, hit the Inbox link at the very top of the page near the right.
  5. Yeah, that's what I meant: stuff like Stylish and userContent.css in Mozilla browsers, site prefs in Opera, etc. I'll ask on one of the Yuku help forums. This won't be relevant for a little while-or maybe it's better to say that it's about eighth on my to-do list. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smile.gif
  6. Since it appears that this thread is probably going to go in the same direction, I think I'll lock this in favor of Message Board's impact on outcome of game.
  7. Yeah, I noticed that about the baseball graphic, too. Members should note that once Brian gets the skin settled in, we can feed some site-specific CSS to those who want to make personal changes to how they look at the site. Kristen, I know the ins and outs of adding site-specific CSS within Mozilla browsers and Opera. Can this be done with other browsers, especially IE 7? And by the way, in the locked thread, I welcomed you and ransom to the board. Since it's locked, I'll welcome you again. And thanks for all the help. :-)
  8. [faqborder][faqhead]BREWERFAN.NET Designated Threads List[/faqhead] Please use current threads or designated threads when they're available. Note that designated threads have been assigned as 'catch-all' homes for certain types of posts. [dl][dt]2016 Opening Day Lineup (and 2016 Batting Order Discussion)[/dt][dd]General lineup discussion. Any 'full-lineup' posts go here.[/dd][/dl][/faqborder]
  9. This looks like it's exactly the 800 px that was in the original header. I'm a fan of fluid widths myself, but I'm also a fan of making the header match the rest of the site. Interestingly, when people were posting pictures of their systems in Off Topic a few weeks back, nobody posted a picture that showed they were browsing full-screen. Also consider that narrow message widths are much more readable. And many users are using higher resolutions that the 1024 x 768 that's been common over the years. By the way, welcome ransom and Kristen, and thanks for the help.
  10. Good question, ryne100. This option might just be the difference between Rickie reaching or not reaching super-two status. We won't know for sure until MLB does its super-two bookkeeping after the season.
  11. These threads are always so interesting because people are always legitimately confused. I hope members report back tonight just so we can have our curiosity satisfied. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. Bruce Ciskie, I live in north central Wisconsin?exclusive Brewers territory, but well outside of the Milwaukee market?and I've never had an ESPN Brewers game blacked out. I know that there's occasionally confusion when regional games are involved. Sometimes, it's not actually a blackout situation, but instead, it's simply been that ESPN has offered a different game in that particular area. In other words, people 'feel' blacked out. That situation never applies to me, though, because I have all the alternate feeds. My gut says that this is going to be pretty straightforward because this is a national game with no alternates.
  13. I'm not sure what you're getting at, JJHardy7. Scott made it clear that he was thrilled to be joining the Brewers. If you're talking about the family issues, I'm sure he'd rather have seen this birth go more smoothly so he could have spent more time with his team.
  14. I think Dessens is the perfect choice for this situation. When it comes time to do a DFA in a couple days, he's the one least likely to be useful moving forward. JJHardy7, Dillon is primarily a corner infielder. But that's fine, though. He offers 3B backup while Counsell and Graffanino are otherwise occupied.
  15. Thanks to SeriesFinale for noting in the locked thread locked thread that the long lost Marshall Edwards will be in attendance. His name is in the article Jamie posted above. I'm surprised nobody noticed. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. I'm going to lock this in favor of the thread that was posted yesterday: August 14-16 Special price ticket offer. '82 ticket price It took your thread title, though, for me (or anyone else) to notice that Marshall Edwards was on the list. Thanks for the heads-up.
  17. you guys and lady ? If you check carefully, you'll find that there are two 'ladies' on the mod list. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif One lays pretty low, though. Funny that one of the excuses for tonight's thread lock was that "the mods needed a night off". I'd say they were busier tonight than in any game all year.? Actually, locking is very easy. We hit a checkbox, choose lock from a pulldown menu, hit submit, then hit a confirm button. It's a hell of a lot easier than trying to keep a thread open.

  19. I had my dog put to sleep yesterday, and I feel glad. I'm glad that he was able to be part of the family for five weeks short of fifteen years, which is phenomenal for a dog with German Shepherd in his blood. And I feel privileged that he lived with me for just over his last seven years. As always, on his last day, he placed his trust in me. Typically, he wasn't happy to be at the vet. As he lay on the table, he worked his way off the edge and into my arms. That's where he died. Today, every time I'd get out of my chair, I'd look over at his favorite spot, expecting him to be looking up at me. I'd do that out of habit because I'd generally tell him to 'stay'. In earlier times, that would be because it was unnecessary for him to be following me around the house. Lately, it'd be because I wanted to save the stress on his old bones. I can make the adjustment because I know I did what was right for him. Yesterday, I felt good once all was said and done. http://www.brewerfan.net/images/staffpix/casey_shepherd.jpg
  20. The message board absolutely affects the outcome of games. On Saturday, I had pics for the countdown thread all prepped and ready to post. Look at what's happened since.
  21. I'm a Stalinist who's particularly into the teachings of Chairman Mao. But that doesn't mean I can't appreciate the point of view of our Fan Forum Director, who's also known as Idi Admin.
  22. The way I interpreted that information was that you'd be fully in on the process. Things could have changed, though. If things go smoothly, there shouldn't be a problem. Yuku ought to be pretty good at this by now. On a side note, I'm impressed that you can spell 'queue'. I struggled with that one a while back. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. "If you dont think Vargas was moveable because of injuries your an idiot." crosses the condescension line. "Sorry to all the sensitive ladies we have here in the chat room" = major condescension. "If you're going to calll someone an idiot, don't use the wrong word in front of idiot." answers condescension with more condescension.
  24. Way back when, Yuku was saying that import time could be as little as seconds to a couple minutes, so hopefully, there shouldn't be an issue with too many posts. I believe, if there's something that could be touchy that would make the import a little longer, the site could optionally be shut down. That wouldn't last very long, though and probably wouldn't need to happen.
  25. You might, Brett. I don't know if you're officially migrated yet, though.
