  1. That alone has earned the rest of his contract. Honestly, Pitchers have no business celebrating catches like that, because they shouldn't give up bombs like that to where they need to be saved to begin with.
  2. Cubs need six more outs...but who do you trust to get them...Maddon, I promise you, if you shock the world and let Darvish finish the game, I will never say another bad word about you.
  3. I wonder...since he's mainly a fast ball guy(and that plays in Colorado), IF the Brewers win tonight, and the Cards lose, if MAYBE CC doesn't chance it and start Freddy tomorrow?? That would make sense to me in regards to the fact you don't have to use Woody or Houser and basically leaves your rotation in tact for a game 163 or the post season. I think that might be the route I go..It's risky, but I think it might be the right call in thinking about it.
  4. The Crew NEEDS to win this game...it's likely that if the Cards lose tonight, they will throw Flaherty tomorrow, which obviously would mean, in the event of a tie breaker game, the Brewers wouldn't have to face him, or Wainright who has been very good against them this year...but first things first..get some damn runs!
  5. Bob Nightengale @BNightengale · 23s Amazing: It has been 54 days, going back to Aug. 4, when the #Brewers and #STLCards have lost on the same day.
  6. Not terrible, but I'd feel MUCH MUCH better if they were tied after tonight. Then I really think the brewers would have had the advantage.
  7. On the plus side(maybe)...IF IF IF things go right tomorrow(Crew wins, Cards lose), the Cardinals have held Flaherty back for Sunday(if needed), under this scenario he would be needed for them. So, if they end up tied, he couldn't pitch the tiebreaker game against the Crew.
  8. This is what will anger me even more, if the Cubs give the Crew the help they needed, and the Brewers couldn't capitalize. That's a lot more maddening then if the Crew wins and the Cardinals win.
  9. Except Castellanos has been scratched with "groin tightness"
  10. Guaranteed, if this were said by Counsell or another Manager that the Cubs needed help from, Maddon would be crying about "the integrity of the game". As Tony Dungy said "you play to win the game".
  11. Thought this deserved it's own thread... Paul Sullivan @PWSullivan · 11m With Cubs out, Maddon isn't playing his "A" lineup in St. Louis, so @Brewers can start their ******** now: "Of course they're going to *****, and I get it, but quite frankly, there are certain things I really don't give a **** about, and that would be one of them."
  12. It's 2-1 in the top of the 3rd?? And of course as I was typing, Goldie homers to make it 4-1. I'm so PO'd that the Cubs couldn't win a single game in that series against the Cards...I REALLY envisioned the Crew being only a game(2 at most) back of the Cards starting tonight.
  13. May I ask why?? I'd rather see the Cubs win..and at least one more in this series, if not the remaining 3. If they do that, at WORST the Brewers are 1 game out(if not tied) of the division starting next week(that's of course assuming a sweep of the hapless Pirates).
  14. 100% disagree, the Crew sweeps the Pirates(which they should), and now the Cubs win the next three vs. Cards and guess what?? You have a tie for the division lead to start next week. Not unrealistic at all. Heck even a split between Cubs-Cards now...Cubs win two more, Cards win one more, and the Crew is 1 game back. Easy Peasey to make that up.
  15. I think the easiest and best thing to do is hope the Cards win tonight...so you get a game clear of the Cubs(now you have a bit of cushion)...and then have the Cubs win the next 3(of course I'm assuming a brewers sweep over the Pirates). So this way by Monday you are tied for the division lead and still a game up on the Cubs..This isn't an unrealistic/unreasonable scenario at ll I don't think. Now, being tied in the division, you can look at things on a game by game basis instead of doing the math. I feel like looking at it in shorter spots like this it doesn't seem nearly as daunting as saying the Crew needs to go 9-1 if the Cards go even 6-4 just to tie them. That does make it seem really difficult, but saying, the Cards win tonight and Cards lose the next three, doesn't make it sound nearly as bad to me, or unreasonable either.
  16. I see Rizzo is back already for the Cubs...I know a lot of people are talking about the math and how it gets tough etc. I tend to look at these things in a shorter view, because then it doesn't seem as daunting, and it really isn't if you break it down this way...This is what i think we should want..(I know it's what I want). Cards win tonight...that gives the Brewers a 1 game lead over the Cubs...Now you have a little bit of a cushion over them..Brewers sweep the Pirates(which they should do), Cubs then win the next 3 from the cards(after tonight), all of a sudden you are tied for the division lead heading into the final week, and still have the one game cushion on the Cubs. That's a perfect scenario and not unrealistic at all, if you look at it that way.
  17. It doesn't help that Grisham is just terrible...No idea why in that situation he didn't PH Braun.
  18. Well, I think this game today REALLY put a damper on the Crew's hopes of winning the division now. Yes, it's only one game, I get that but it was against Scherzer. I was assuming this was a Cardinals loss without question. In fact, with who the Nats were throwing in the series, I was thinking the Cards chances of even winning one game were about .0001%. So needless to say the fact they won 2 of 3, REALLY torques me off. No way did I see that happening, at all. My "vision" before the week started were that come Friday the Brewers would have swept all 4 from the Padres, the Cardinals were going to get swept, and the Cubs were going to win 1 of 3(still could happen). That would have put the Crew in 1st place in the division heading into the weekend, had that happened, they would have REALLY been sitting pretty. Still being 2 out now, is NOT at all what I thought was going to happen and put them in a very tough spot IMO. It is IMPERATIVE(IMO anyway), that they take the lead on the Cubs tonight. I just feel like once they get the lead, they are in a much better position because then it actually gives you a 1 game cushion where as if you are ahead by a game, if you lose one then, no big deal, the worst that happens is the Cubs tie you again on any given night. If they can get the lead on the Cubs after tonight, then 100% as much as it makes me throw up, I'm rooting for a 3-1 series win(minimum) for the Cubs..assuming the crew sweeps the Pirates, you'd stay ahead of the Cubbies and would then be (at minimum)tied for the division lead heading into the last week. That's what I feel MUST happen for them to have any shot. Again, I think this Nationals series REALLY hurt the crew as far as the division goes. It also REALLY PO's me that the Cardinals are even in this spot, they shouldn't be. They just had the great fortune of getting to beat up on the Pirates most of the second half and won 11 games against them since the ASB(I think). That's just ridiculous.
