  1. Look, I hope like heck the kid comes up and rakes like Hiura, that will only help the Brewers down the stretch...I'd be as happy as anyone of that happens, but some of you seem like you are ready to sink or swim with him the rest of the year. I won't go that far...he's a rookie, getting his first big league experience...if he doesn't produce, you HAVE to have a short leash with him...they are in the middle of a pennant race here(it seems like some of you just want to punt on that, and look towards next year), it's an awful lot to ask of a rookie to come in and make a HUGE difference for them, you can't afford to throw away games looking at a kid that if struggling, isn't helping you any right now.
  2. Believe me that annoys me to only being able to embed three quotes...how do you get around that?? I don't know how to do it.
  3. I will tell you what a needle mover is...To me it's a player or players that you acquire, that almost EVERYONE in baseball or associated with baseball in anyway can clearly see by acquiring that player you made your team better for a pennant race, or into the postseason. They are a proven commodity, very consistent in what they do and will make an impact down the stretch...some examples of this...when the Brewers acquired CC Sabathia=HUGE needle mover...do they make the playoffs without him?? Absolutely NOT. When they acquired Zach Greinke=HUGE needle mover. When those two took the mound every night, you felt like you had a legitimate chance to win every night they pitched. You knew they were VERY unlikely to get shelled(it happens to everyone). Examples this year...Greinke to the Stros...that pretty much locks them in as the clear American league favorites to at least get to the World Series, and now with that rotation can go head to head with the Dodgers, easily. Shane Greene to the Braves...model of consistency, night in night out when he closes. he comes in, almost always he will finish it out...=Needle movers. What the Brewers did today are NOT needle moving moves...they can be I guess, but..you hope/wish/cross your fingers that it can. Not enough of an impact for it to be a CLEAR upgrade for anything. especially the rotation. so REALISTICALLY, what did you want the Brewers to do today? While I was initially disappointed in this trade (and I still don't necessarily love it), it has become crystal clear that the prices on pitching was astronomical and this was about the extent of what the Brewers could do with their system. Did you see what the Astros gave up for Greinke? And they are STILL having to pay him a significant amount of his contract. Short of dealing Hiura, the Brewers simply weren't going to be able to acquire that top end pitcher. Like I have said previously, I blame the click-baiting of Robert Murray that got all of our hopes up by saying Dubon was being traded in a "significant" deal. I think any one of us would assume a writer calling a "significant" deal for players of Pomeranz, Black and Dubon is the epitome of bad journalism. This one tweet alone got me emotionally twisted for this deal as I automatically assumed the deal would include actual significant pieces like Bumgarner or Smith, as well as actual significant pieces (Ray, Turang, Grisham, etc...) being included on the Brewers end. EXACTLY....that's what really set me off the rest of the day...to say "significant" and then for it to be this?? Bad, bad, bad, HORRIBLY bad journalism.
  4. We all were expecting one decent starting pitcher, right? That didn't happen. This...all of this. As much as I wanted a "big" move, I would have been perfectly happy with a couple of Tanner Roark type acquisitions for the rotation. Instead they want to be taken seriously in a pennant race, when the only acquisition they make to their starting rotation is Jordan Lyles?? Really?? Sure, I get prices were high on the big fish, but it didn't cost Oakland much to get Roark. You couldn't have found two steady arms(at a lower cost) to put in the rotation now to at least give you a somewhat decent rotation until Woody gets back?? Yeah Chacin comes back...big deal, he's been AWFUL. Davies has been getting shelled..No, you realistically can't cover all of that, but if you go get two Tanner Roark types, you can at least likely "cover" up some of that. Which may be all that was necessary. To not come away with at least ONE reliable starter, if anyone says they are fine with that they are full of you know what.. You don't buy when you are under performing. That is what stupid teams do. That is what you want? MKE to do what stupid teams do? Enough already... no one was walking in the door and saving this season and making it a WS team. Why don't you get that. The price to add anything as big as you wanted would have obliterated the farm completely. That's not what smart teams do. Didn't I just say I would have been happy with a couple of Tanner Roark type upgrades for the rotation?? That would not have even come close to "oblterating" the farm. I really wanted two, would have been satisfied with one...instead we got none.
  5. Right now, there rotation this weekend against the Cubs is Davies, Gio, Houser...is that supposed to be taken seriously?? That's what you are trotting out there for a series against your division rivals in the middle of a playoff chase?? Lovely..

  7. Boy, this has not been a good deadline day for you. You know no one is expecting Grisham to duplicate his AAA numbers in MLB, right? Idk about that, they must be expecting HUGE things, no one wanted to deal him, and now they want him to start at least three times a week, you'd think he's the next Ken Griffey Jr right?? Everyone is basing how good he is off how well he is hitting in AAA...that is a FACT. But then say you can't use AAA #'s for guys like Saladino etc. Double standard. If he starts off like saladino did I can hear the excuses already "the kid doesn't play enough", or this or that or anything else they can think of. If he's as bad as Saladino there will NOT be a single person on these boards trying to run him back to AAA immediately like they are with Saladino, not one. It will be Counsell's fault for not playing him enough, or not hitting him in the order where he should..I'm grabbing my popcorn for this one, for sure.
  8. With the way everyone here slobbers all over him, I sure as hell hope there are ZERO excuses if he doesn't take off instantly the way Hiura has. I've followed him as much as everyone else, with his numbers(which so many are slobbering all over in AAA yet, saying you can't use AAA #'s as a gauge of anything for other Brewers) I'm expecting Ken Griffey Jr. No less, that's the way so many here talk about him so...

  10. Probably not the best time to bash Houser starting coming off a terrific outing against a very good lineup. You are grasping at straws now. Take a deep breath and relax. 1 good start...1... how were his other ones earlier?? Note the difference between his bullpen/starter ERA. This is the same Adrian Houser that everyone here wanted moved back to the pen.
  11. Okay fine...but you still couldn't have done ANY better than Jordan Lyles for nearly any cost?? Tanner Roark?? Anyone?? And now it looks like Houser moves into the rotation...that didn't go well the first time he was thrust into being a starter.
  12. Let me ask you, are you satisfied with the rotation right now?? Is it division winning quality to you?? I'll hang up and listen to your answer The rotational piece you want means trading Hiura. There really isn't anything else in the system worth enough. I do not want to trade Hiura. Basically you are asking for something that isn't possible. I disagree 100%...No way any of those guys available should cost Hiura. Grisham?? Sure, totally fine with that plus other pieces. That's what I thought they would pull off, using him in a deal for one.
  13. This...1000%. Don't use the term "significant" for a deal like this. "have an agreement" or anything resembling that is fine, but "significant" is reserved for players like Will Smith or Madison Baumgarner. Can't believe he said that.
  14. That horse is still twitching. You keep on beating that thing until it's a pulp! Let me ask you, are you satisfied with the rotation right now?? Is it division winning quality to you?? I'll hang up and listen to your answer
  15. So I guess the rotation "upgrades" are Jordan Lyles and Adrian Houser...Damn what a rotation..Houser, Lyles, Gio, Davies, Chase! That'll strike fear into all of their opponents, for sure! Hang the banner now!
  16. Shame on Robert Murray tweeting out they were in agreement on a SIGNIFICANT trade. That got everyone in a frenzy, and with that wording, rightly so.
  17. Are you suggesting Tanner Roark was the solution? He really isn't very good either. No absolutely not, I just added that on to my post...but getting NO rotation help is an absolute Joke.
  18. LOL Sorry, but this deadline for the Crew has been a joke..no rotation help. Tanner Roark just went to the A's.
  19. Pomeranz and Ray Black...that's not significant...at all Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal 1m Pomeranz and Ray Black to #Brewers for Dubon, source tells The Athletic. On it: @ByRobertMurray.
  20. Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal 55s Pomeranz goes from #SFGiants to #Brewers, source tells The Athletic.
  21. Drew Pomeranz...really?? That's significant??
  22. Jon Heyman @JonHeyman 1m The Brewers significant trade does not involve MadBum I am told Jon Morosi @jonmorosi 29s Will Smith is not going to the Brewers in the reported trade agreement between Milwaukee and San Francisco, either.
  23. Depends on who it's for..I'd prefer it be Bumgarner, but BP help would be okay too.
  24. What move would you make that would guarantee wins this year since that is what you want from the Brewers' front office? There are NO guarantees, BUT I would definitely be willing to bet that Robbie Ray would help them(substantially) this year, so would Greinke...and guess what?? The beauty of that is, they are also under control NEXT year too. Not just rentals
  25. Here's what's yucky...now stop and think about this for a minute...IF this is all they do today..a team that is right in the thick of things for a playoff spot this year needs pitching...So, let's just assume Faria is with the MLB and goes into the rotation for the Brewers...they have filled their MAJOR pitching needs with...wait for it..Jordan Lyles and Jacob Faria?? Hang the NL Central banner now! They are in the thick of it without those two additions. By adding two small pieces we just helped the pitching in an admittedly small way but we added to an already contending team. There is no reason to think adding those two will do anything but help. We added them without hurting our future to boot. In fact we helped it. It seems like you are one of those who would go all in every year the team is in contention. Which is fine if you plan on only being in contention for two out of every twelve years. For myself I'll take this type of move knowing this team has a better chance to contend of a consistent basis. Better chance..maybe, guaranteed?? Not by any stretch of the imagination. I'm a win now kind of guy...when you get close, you should really try to do whatever is possible to do to win now. I know that's what Mark A wants, he always has. You never know when these chances will come around again. Good move for the future?? Sure, potentially, and I applaud him for that. But we are still in 2019, with a season to finish, and right in the middle of it...that should be the concern as of this moment.
