  1. Thanks Adrian...The brewers really want NO part of taking the lead or control of this division, do they??
  2. Stearns values the Organizational depth too much, so probably won’t be seeing Freitas anytime soon. This team needs an offensive shake-up, Freitas, Dubon, Grisham, take your pick. None of those guys are going to make that much of a difference. You want an offensive shake up?? Go get a bat in a trade..a BIG bat.
  3. The Cubs are trying to hand the Brewers the division, and they just don't want to take it, do they??
  4. I mean don't get me wrong, I like Keston as much as the next guy, but some of you here act like he's Babe Ruth reincarnated, and he alone is what has been ailing this ball club. I'd rather have seen Jesus go then Shaw, but either way it's the right move. That being said, unless DS gets some pitching...STAT, it's going to be like this for the rest of the season, regardless of whether or not Keston is here or in the minors.
  5. Not that i disagree with sending Shaw down or DFA'ng Perez, but does Jesus have pictures on Stearns or something?? Ridiculous that he is still on this team.
  6. Per Counsell's remarks about if they don't start producing, changes will be made...Ummm Craig and David...they haven't produced all year. How much longer are you going to let it go on?? Changes should have been made awhile ago already.
  7. I honestly wasn't excited about it...I had a feeling trying them as starters was not going to be successful. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. So many people try to though, and it almost always fails.
  8. I think DS got too smart for his own good in thinking that we'd could have a rotation of SPs who only go 4-5 innings and then ride our BP every night like we did in Sept of last year. There is some wisdom in taking out pitchers too early rather than too late, but ideally pitchers should be capable of going 7 innings. We really don't have anyone other than Woodruff who I trust can do that. His problem was going into the season thinking the kids would carry the rotation. That was a huge mistake, and I thought it was pretty obvious before the season started it wasn't going to work. You can't rely on that many young arms and think they will lead you to the promise land. How often does that happen in sports?? 1 of them, maybe. But when 3/5ths of your rotation was young arms(2 of which were absolute $$) in the bullpen last year, that was a recipe for disaster from the get go. That's the kind of thing a non contending club does to get a look at their young arms all year. Not a team that considers themselves legit WS contenders.
  9. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=mileywa01&t=p&year=2019. No prospects, only $4.5 mil at the beginning of the season. Yup, huge miss by Stearns there.
  10. I mean look what CC and Greinke did for the Crew...Their rotations were nothing special, but all of a sudden those two come in, and it boosts the whole club in each of those years.
  11. What he meant was I can't trade for 4 starters........ If that's what he meant, then okay, I understand that, but he also said "you can supplement". So do it! How much longer are you going to wait?? What more do you need to see, to know they need help NOW.
  12. How many arms do you want to trade for? As many as possible. But really, all it takes sometimes is 1..but it better be a stud. That can sometimes shake an entire team out of a funk. We've seen it before.
  13. And yet Stearns comes out and says "the pitching improvements are going to have to come from inside the club". Okay DS, except, this is as good as it gets. Keep sitting around hoping and waiting for that improvement to happen instead of pulling off a deal now. He didn't really believe that statement he made, did he?? if he did, he's not nearly as smart as everyone makes him out to be.
  14. Better get the lead on him now, because after this inning he will undoubtedly settle in and look like Cy young the rest of the way.
  15. Bases loaded...no one out?? What could possibly go wrong?? Smells like a DP and a K coming up.
  16. Does DS just keep recycling the same old guys from AAA to the bigs?? Aaron Wilkerson is a nobody. Ist here anyone else down there that he could call up?? Oh, and his statement about the better pitching needing to come from in house..yeah okay DS. We have seen enough to know they arent capable of pitching better. Sounds to me like a GM that's afraid to make a move...a BIG move.
  17. Sure, Stearns HAS to say they will snap out of it, they are right on the precipice of breaking out etc etc. My biggest problem with DS has always been what seems like hesitancy to do something. He could have a team call, tell DS what it will take, and DS will take weeks/months to decide if he wants to do it or not. This team is struggling NOW..if he doesn't do something NOW, by the trade deadline, they could be too far out that it won't matter, and then he will/should have to answer some questions.
  18. Just wondering how you know he’s just sitting around. Inside knowledge? Are you in the meetings? Until a new acquisition has been made...he's just sitting around to me. Making phone calls, checking in etc. Going thru the motions, but that's it. Every GM does that. It's part of their job. Stearns seems like the kind of guy that takes FOREVER to decide to pull the trigger on something. Scared money don't make money. Target someone(s) you decide you want, and stay on the phone until the deal is done. Having meetings does nothing(with coffee and donuts talking about who you want to pursue, it's the same meeting every day)...activity and completed trades is action.
  19. And here Stearns sits...You want to shake this team out of it's funk?? Pull something off...NOW. If you wait until the deadline, it may be too late.
  20. If the Cubs win tonight(and they were up last time I looked), they will be a game and half up...and you just kind of get the feeling they will start to separate a bit.
