  1. I know I keep harping on it, but with every game that goes by i have to keep asking...is Stearns going to do ANYTHING to fix this team, that needed fixing a couple of weeks ago already?? or is he going to continue to sit idly by and watch it implode??
  2. I have no idea why Hader is still pitching..me personally I would have had someone warming up after Aguilar's bomb. It felt over to me at that point. If you pull him you could have possibly used him tomm and Sunday if necessary as well. At least one of the two.
  3. Davies is so maddening to watch...not only is he a soft tosser, but he is constantly trying to hit the corners like he's Greg Maddux/Tom Glavine, and he's just not very good at it. Nibble, nibble nibble. That's why he rarely goes deep, his pitch counts are always so high.
  4. It seems like you really know your stuff. I wonder if there is anyone who can get you in touch with Counsell and DS to share your insights and wisdom and thus fix the problems with this team right now. I don't know why you had to make such a condescending comment, but ok. You do you.
  5. I touched on this in another thread...but part of the problem with the LU right now(in my opinion) is exactly what you see in today's LU : Cain Yelich Grandal Moose Hiura Aguilar Saladino Arcia Davies This is the problem, he has the WORST bats all stacked together, you can't do that and expect to be successful. When I was Coaching an Amateur team a few years ago, I made the decision to try and "hide" my lessor bats between some of my better bats rather than stack them up 7-8-9 and basically give the opposing teams "free" 1-2-3 innings every time the bottom of my order came up..Tonights LU you can't really make it work the way I would like to see it optimally but against RHP's and with Thames and either Braun or Gamel in the Lineup it works much better, and I would lead Thames off. His other problem is, he worries too much about playing match ups and puts Aguilar in against LHP's(like tonight). Sometimes you have to ignore the splits and just run your best hitters out there regardless of match up. Aguilar should never be in the LU ahead of Thames even against a LHP. Thames is a better hitter...period. You're just giving up outs that way.
  6. You're right about Cain and until he can get healthy, Gamel might be a better option. I don't like Hiura at the leadoff because he Ks too much. Right now he's at 35% K rate. I'd rather see Grandal in an RBI spot so right now CC has little to choose from at the leadoff spot. I'd honestly lead off Thames. Good OBP. I also think Counsell needs to consider an option I always used when I was Coach of an Adult amateur team. Instead of basically punting the 7 and 8 spots in the order(Pitcher at 9 as well), I would "hide" my lessor hitters between two of my better hitters, to minimize the 7-8-9 spots in the order being automatic outs. I would "hide" Arcia/Saladino between Moose and Grandal for instance, and right now, I'd hide Cain between say Braun and Hiura. Now, I had the advantage of being able to utilize the DH, so it made it easier to do, but I still think it needs to be considered. I think if I'm CC right now, my LU would look something like this: 1. Thames 2. Yelich 3. Grandal 4. Moose 5. Hiura 6. Arcia 7. Braun 8. Pitcher 9. Cain Maybe moving Cain down to 9th, and Braun 7th POTENTIALLY gives you a little more chance for production down there. If Cain turns it around, then he's another leadoff guy at the bottom of the order. Yes, I have all of my lefties ta the top, in order, and all my RH bats at the bottom in order..but that doesn't matter to me. What's more important to me right now, is "hiding" the weaker hitters, which I think this lineup does. To me, this is a very good LU against RH pitchers...against LH Pitchers I'd switch it up.
  7. No offense to anyone here, but i'm not sure why this is being discussed even?? If Stearns gets off his ass and actually makes some trades to make this team better THIS year, then there is no reason they can't make the playoffs. And next year, I also see zero reason why Moose AND Grandal can't both be signed(they can be), so what have you lost?? That team could be competitive for several years yet as is(with the addition of a few key pieces for the next couple of years). Worry about the future when it's time to worry about it. The time for them to be competitive and be a "big boy" baseball team is now and the next few years.
  8. Is Stearns going to do something to shake this team up?? Or is he just going to sit idly by and let the titanic keep sinking?? By the time he actually wakes up and does something, the team will be out of first place and out of the playoff hunt. Irresponsible to have allowed this to go on this long without doing SOMETHING(and calling up Hiura doesn't count).
  9. That needs to be done regardless, and probably should have been done already
  10. They're 6-5 in their last 11. And 7-12 in their last 19, all of which have been against teams with losing records. Anyone who would have said before this stretch of games that the Brewers would go 10-9 would have been branded a hopeless pessimist. But just 10-9 would give them a 4 game lead over the Cubs and a nice cushion over the rest of the division. +1000, exactly my point.
  11. This is what frustrates me so badly...if the Brewers were playing even .500 ball lately, they would have a commanding lead in the division right now.
  12. And at the same time, the Cubs go up 5-4 on the 2nd HR of the game by...of course it's Victor Caritini. They get more big hits from nobodies like caritini and David Freaking Bote than any team I have ever seen. Talk about a horseshoe.
  13. Gee Craig...what did you think was going to happen going with Wilkerson in this situation?? I think if anyone needs a couple days off, it's Counsell. Just terrible managing the last couple days.
  14. So Counsell is going to let this game finish without a single AB from Yelich?? Is he high or something?? If not for Saladino or Pina, when??
  15. Iglesias has given up 7 runs in his last 4 innings... Garrett struck out 3 in 1 inning last night, and Iglesias pitched a clean inning...I'm not going to count on Iglesias to keep giving up runs like he has been. That would be like Hader going thru a stretch like that and thinking he's going to keep doing it...you know he isn't.
  16. I can't believe Counsell trotted this crap lineup out there. Yelich and Grandal need breaks, i get it, but both in the same game?? That's just dumb. They better get to Gray next inning, or it's Garrett and Iglesias and goodnight.
  17. You could insert Cain for Braun here. It doesn't look like Braun was too concerned when he was taken out of the game, but if he's out for an extended ampunt of time and with Cain struggling, what do you do with the outfield? Roster Grisham and play him, also call-up Tyrone Taylor. Play Grisham and Gamel in the OF, Taylor bench, Saladino could play of too vs lefty’s. No offense, but what is your infatuation with wanting to play rookies this year?? They aren't going to help the Brewers get to where they want to go this year.
  18. I'm sorry, but none of these guys are significantly better than what the crew already has in the rotation. There is ZERO point in trading any prospects or anything of value for a starter unless it's a MAJOR upgrade. If you're a legit contender, you don't let the fear of what prospects "might" become, scare you out of making a MAJOR deal. That's what contenders do. Either go big, or go home DS. For the record, I have absolutely ZERO issues including Peralta in a deal(for a controllable arm), I also have zero issues including Orlando Arcia in a deal..Including those two in a deal would be a way to acquire a big piece, without having to tap into your farm system and without it hurting the current team significantly.
